If you were watching the 197# NCAA DI Championships, you just watched one of the best REFEREES to come out of Kansas: Jimmy Ramirez (who, by the way, is the Vice-President of the KWOA)

Congrats on being selected to work the finals for the NCAAs!!!

Jimmy is a great guy...called one match that I remember very well in 2001 DII's. UNO wrestler got pinned in 18 seconds at 125 with no takedown...was in a funky scramble and BAM! The end!

Jimmy is a great guy and I'm glad you put his name up on this post, as he deserves just as much attention as our great athletes.

Also Kevin Klemm (Stanford) and Joe Seay (UTC) deserve mention as coaches.

I wasn't aware of that, but thanks for the info. I actually thought this post was going to be about kids that weren't FROM Kansas, but had Kansas ties. Like for instance transfered from a Kansas juco to DI out of state. Are there any this year?

I remember watching Orville Palmer become an all-american for Oklahoma in St. Louis back in '00. He used to pummel me pretty good in the practice room at Colby Community College.

Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov was a 2x juco champ for Colby and placed 3rd at this weekend's NCAAs.

C.B. Dollaway was a juco champ and 3rd place national medal winner for Colby. He placed 5th at the NCAAs.

Speaking of "Other Kansans", I noticed Zach Roberson sitting with the great Coach Bobby Douglas in Nate Gallick's corner during Nate's NCAA Championship Final with Teyon Ware.
