Thank you for the results sir I appreciat it. Event though I wasnt pleased with the results at 197. I was one of James Williams high school coaches. Not sure if you were at the tourney personally or not, was curious if Williams was injured in that first round? He had dominated the Pima kid earlier in the week as well as the Minnesota West kid as well. No reason for him not to win this tourney handily... Labette was missing some key people I see.
Thanx again - Tim King

James appeared to struggle in a couple of bouts this weekend.
Padilla caught him early and was able to hold the lead. Padilla really didn't do much the rest of the tournament.
James came out fired up against Neosho and wrestled McGill like most have come to expect him to. Had a lot of fire in his belly and wrestled tough whistle to whistle.
Then this morning he wrestled poorly (blunt, but true) against an average (at best) Ed Jaramillo.
In the consolation semis Feltmann, like Williams, is a retunring All-American. It was a competitive bout between the two, but conditioning appeared to be the deciding factor once they got to overtime.
NW Wyo's Robert Roszkiewicz is a returning AA from two season's ago. And he has looked tough. Haven't been able to gauge Knoll yet as he has not wrestled anyone yet.

Thanx again -
He needs to get his head on straight, not near the confidence he had last year. He hasnt touched what he is capable of.
I appreciate the updates. I will be curious of the finals of 149. Ellsworth kid is super tough but was in terrible shape early in the year. As well as 125 finals. Definitely a great prelim to regionals next month.
Will look forward to final results..
Tim

Who was OW? I'd personally have a Colby guy on my ballot.

Colby does not award an OW at their meet.
It would have been a tough call to award this year. This meet featured the top ranked (as of 12/12/03 rankings) junior college wrestlers in seven of the ten weight classes - and would of had eight if Mark Dickman wouldn't have gotten dinged up and sat this one out.
One would have to consider the interpretation of OW to award it.
Is it the person who wins the toughest weight? If so, Seth Wright would have to take the award home. His weight featured each of the top four ranked kids in the nation and he won the 125 title. Although 141,149,165,174,197 and 157 all had three ranked wrestlers (157 actually had two but NW Wyoming's Jacob Wright knocked the #3 ranked Cort Peterson off the team for this meet, so I'd consider him ranked).
Or do you give the award to the most dominating performance? Galanakis at 133 (2 falls and a major), Abdurakhmanov (2 majors and a fall) or Dollaway (2 falls and a tech fall). They all appeared untouchable. Then there is Rhodes at heaveyweight, he just played with everyone and hardly worked up a sweat.
In all honesty the award could have gone to anyone of the 10 champions, because they were all outstanding!

The teams at the 2003 TOC accounted for 36 of the 80 wrestlers who eventually earned All-American honors; 13 of the 20 NJCAA finalists; and 6 of the ten national champions.
And that was without NW Wyoming and Western Wyoming who normally compete in the event. That would have added another 6 AAs including another national champ.
Based on the current rankings, this year's stats could be just as impressive!
