Colby does not award an OW at their meet.
It would have been a tough call to award this year. This meet featured the top ranked (as of 12/12/03 rankings) junior college wrestlers in seven of the ten weight classes - and would of had eight if Mark Dickman wouldn't have gotten dinged up and sat this one out.
One would have to consider the interpretation of OW to award it.
Is it the person who wins the toughest weight? If so, Seth Wright would have to take the award home. His weight featured each of the top four ranked kids in the nation and he won the 125 title. Although 141,149,165,174,197 and 157 all had three ranked wrestlers (157 actually had two but NW Wyoming's Jacob Wright knocked the #3 ranked Cort Peterson off the team for this meet, so I'd consider him ranked).
Or do you give the award to the most dominating performance? Galanakis at 133 (2 falls and a major), Abdurakhmanov (2 majors and a fall) or Dollaway (2 falls and a tech fall). They all appeared untouchable. Then there is Rhodes at heaveyweight, he just played with everyone and hardly worked up a sweat.
In all honesty the award could have gone to anyone of the 10 champions, because they were all outstanding!
