Don't forget, that tonight, #6 Neosho County will be hosting #5 Labette in a premiere junior college dual. Wrestling starts at 7:00 pm and will be held on the campus of Neosho County Community College in Chanute, KS. The dual will feature 8 nationally ranked individuals. Come out and see some great college wrestling action.

... and what a great dual it was. Labette wins, 24 to 23 over Neosho. A critical match in the Labette victory, was Emery McReynolds pin!

Labette 24 Neosho County 23

125- Ronnie Smith (NC) dec. Earl Jones (L) 1-0
133- Emery McReynolds (L) wbf over Mark Frey (NC)
141- Nick Johnson (NC) maj. dec. David Bossardet (L) 14-3
149- Jason Leavitt (NC) maj. dec. Mikel Delk (L) 10-2
157- Toby Waters (L) wbf over Aaron Ziadeh (NC)
165- Kenny Brown (NC) dec. Marshall VanNortwick 8-6
174- Joey Gorczynski (L) wbf over John Sponsel
184- Jasper Lockett (NC) dec. Luke Brummett (L) 7-5
197- James Williams (L) wbf over Cody Pappan (NC)
285- Jorge Herrera (NC) wbf over Shane Grant (L)

At 125, freshman Ronnie Smith (Newkirk, OK) pulled out a huge win over 3x Kansas State Champion, Earl Jones. Jones was undefeated for three years in high school.

Mark Frey (133), was showing his true self, building a 3-0 lead over NJCAA qualifier and former Kansas state champion, Emery McReynolds. Frey used a takedown and an escape to build the lead and then was in on another shot and got caught on his back and gave up a fall.

Neosho won six (6) of the ten (10) matches, however Labette's victories were all by fall.

Earl Jones really got a raw deal. Ronnie Newkirk backed up the whole first period, and never took a shot. Yet never once got even a warning for stalling. The only point Newkirk scored was a questionable escape call with short time on the clock. The ref really did a poor job on that one.

That was a good dissection of tonights contest, but should have never come down to that. The Cards should have legitimately won three of those six matches they lost period.

If you stayed home last night for whatever reason, you missed a great Dual. Good job Labette. "Mess with the bird u get the beak."

... and by the way. As a subnote, the atmosphere in the Neosho gym was absolutely ELECTRIC, if not at times, volatile!!!!! I haven't seen a crowd like that, for a dual, in a very long time. When is the rematch? If there is anyway possible, I'll be there!!!

Yeah, In January at Labette is sure to be intense. It is a heated rivalry that alot of people don't know about. Every match will be exciting.
