Brackets are up for the World Team Trials at http://www.themat.com/specialevents/2005/trials/
These are the challenge tournament brackets.

At 55 kg Akin has a tough 5 seed and will go up against Luke Eustice the #4 seed right off the bat. When he wins that he will go against the #1 seed Matt Azevedo. Jason Powell is the #2 seed in that bracket.

At 60 kg Zach Roberson goes up right off as the #3 seed against the #6 seed Josh Moore. When he wins that he will go up against the winner of Johnny Thompson, the #7 seed or Mike Zadick, the #2 seed.

Mary Kelly on the women's side at 51 kg is the #2 seed and goes up against Maika Watanabe the #3 seed. When she wins that she is in the finals of the challenge bracket.

Randi Miller is the #3 seed at 72 kg. She goes up against Heather Martin the #2 seed. After she wins that she goes to the finals of the challenge.

Akin beats Eustice 4-0, 7-0 He has also beaten Azevedo and is in the challenge finals against Simmons.

Yes ... and WOW ... the old guy is looking good! Eric completely dominated Eustice and handed a very thorough thrashing to Azevedo who was the number one seed. When he gets by Simmons, which will be tough, Sammie Henson is waiting in the wings. Of course Sammie was mat side when Eric beat Azevedo. After Eric's hand was raised, Sammie kind of nodded in acknowledgment and had a little grin on his face.

Unfortunately, Zach Roberson lost his second round match to Zadick.
