Geeze is Pennsylvania stacked or what? They won this last year too and here they are again with 2 teams in the championship...and another thing that boggles me...is shumate's weight tougher than nails or what...I mean this is a national runner-up from last year and I see him losing way more than I thought he would...

Well, we are done. We beat Iowa and then went on to hold Indiana until the last. We lost all of the matches from 160 on. This was a big switch for us but the boys were really worn out. They are off to the showers and on to the food. We'll be heading home in the am. We do have some injuries but nothing serious and don't want to go into it on the web. Thanks for all your support KS. The teams really did doyou proud.

Go Cadets! Another strong showing at the Cadet Duals. I coached this team for the first 4 years of the cadet Duals existance and this was the first year I did not attend. I sure did miss being there, but the coaches called me and kept me updated everyday.

Kansas once again proved that we are for sure one of the top Cadet Greco Roman teams in the country placing top 8 every year. Great job Kansas! Now onto Fargo to bring home the "STOP SIGNS" baby! Oh yeah!

Guys-

Great job!! You all impressed me

I do want to give one piece of advice though (I think this would have made the results even better):
Be confident in your technique and yourselves. In a few of the matches I did manage to catch I saw some opportunities that we should have risked (well, not really risked, more of seized). Remember guys, it's not folkstyle; you will not be penalized (points against) for risking the attack.

I know you all have the ability (or you wouldn't be on the team) and the technique (we have the best coaches) now use it to you fullest in Fargo and do what Coach Fergola said (he knows a little

Again, amazing job; you all should be proud: wrestlers for the job well done and their parents for being the parents of their well trained sons!!

Glad to be back in Kansas!

Your boys battled like true Southwind Warriors. We had some tough draws and still was able to place in Greco and come down to the wire with Missouri in Freestyle. We suffered in the Par Terre position with some of our wrestlers lacking in greco/freestyle experience. I was very proud of everyone and expect big things from all of the young men that participated. We had a few wrestlers that were just outstanding and some that took some lumps and just kept battling back. I was a little disappointed because I think we could have done better but I had and still have high expectations of this group they have some talent but have a hard time focussing on the task at hand. I think if they train hard for the next few weeks we will be bringing back more stop signs then a driver on his way to work would like to encounter. So train hard, do the work and enjoy the journey. For some will win and some will lose but becoming a Southwind Warrior will be deep in your soul Forever.

Congratulations gentlemen I am very, very proud of all of you.

Coach Peterman

I am very busy right now with paperwork from the duals and substituting teaching summer school but plan to put down all the thanks to those who helped this Kansas Team succeed in a later post. So get ready to see your name and the much appreciation and respect I have for you and plan to make public so others can appreciate and respect all you did for these young men and the state of Kansas.

Coach Peterman

Curious why Ely at 98 would not have been All-tournament? I cannot see from the results where he lost a match. I am not sure of the parameters, but it looks like he had a heck of a week.

Congrats to all the kids that competed!!!!

Twister:

Ely did have a good tournament. Clark (IL) had a better one.
Ely
3(Tech Falls), 3(Dec: 8-0, 7-1 & 5-1), 1 OT Win(5-4) & 1 FF
Clark
6(Tech Falls), 2(Dec: 10-3 & 5-1) & 2 FF
Even if you take out the FF (Forfiets), Clark's results are better than Ely's.

Under the rules of the cadet dual tournaments the All Star team is selected by adding up the classification points each wrestler earns during the tournament. The kid w/ the highest points at each weight is named the outstanding wrestler for that weight. You get 4 points for a pin, tech fall or forfeit. You get 3 points for a decision. The points you allow are not considered. If I added everything up then under this system Ely would have had 28 points while Clark had 30. It may have some flaws (ex: sitting out a match to allow the second stringer on your team wrestler someone will hurt you) but at least this system has a set criteria for picking the OW.
