This dynamite clinic is approaching fast. Who's interested in attending?

If the dates were later in the summer, after I wasn't AS poor as I am now, I would go

Ditto. I'd like to go to, but need to wait for next opportunity.

If a bronze gets you in free, can I just take a test at FS/Greco State...just clue me in as to what is going on with some basics...then give me 30 minutes or so and I'll pay my dues.

I'm not sure I understand but will just ramble a bit and may accidentally answer your question!

Yes, the Bronze certificate does get you in the door at most State and National level events. In order to obtain your Bronze you must attend a 6 to 7 hours course, pay $60.00, and complete (satisfactorily) an open book test. The Bronze level is the one that USAW-Kansas Kids pushes real hard. Incidentally, Kansas leads the Nation in the number of Bronze certified coaches. Currently that number is right around 2,600, which is roughly 40% of the National total.

The courses are fairly easy to get to during the folkstyle season as Kansas hosts about 10 a year! This time of year, it is a bit rougher to get certified … not impossible … but rougher. However, no level of certification was a (walk in and test) scenario.

The Silver level requires first, that you are Bronze certified. To obtain this level it also requires attendance at a USAW Silver Coaches College, one that this thread is truly referring to. This Coaches College is about 40 hours of fairly intense training, 20 hours of classroom and 20 hours of technical (on the mat). After completing the College, which several Kansas coaches have done, the next phase requires a bit more work. Kansas only has about 8 Silver level coaches. The extra work amounts to either writing 8 papers or task performances, dealing specifically with wrestling.

The Gold level has more papers or tasks to complete. To be Gold you must have a total of 20.

I hope this answers your questions. If not, ask again!
