There are a couple of open dates for possible tourneys on the calendar before the State Tournament June 3rd. Does anyone hope to be able to run a tournament on one of these open dates of 5/20 and 5/27?
I was saddened to see that Ark City has cancelled their FS/GR tourney for this year and that WHY is unable to get their tournament up and running for this year! These were 2 tournaments that both myself and my son were looking forward to attending this year especially since last years tournaments went so smoothly and all.
I can't help but think that the rules changes in the styles may have helped contribute to the lack of available tournaments and/or having to cancel scheduled tournaments. (possibly for lack of able and willing officials that are qualified and understand all of the rules changes this year?)

I just noticed that SEK has also cancelled their tournament on 5/13. That leaves a complete month without a local tournament before the state tournament on 6/3.

Kansas doesn't have a tournament scheduled for 5/20 and 5/27 that I know of...bottom line, can someone fill one of these two weekends before state?

Scott and others...
The best option for the 20th of May is Park Hills FS duals. They have a pretty tough kids division and the duals are excellent. KS needs to put together a couple top teams and go butt heads with Park Hill, Oak Park, a couple teams from St. Louis, Illinois, etc. This is a top notch deal for our JR's. And good for the kids as well. The only kids that don't fit perfect are the younger cadets. Older stud cadets can wrestle up on one of the JR teams. Many of the MO kids do.
Just food for thought. Read above the posts by Jason Keck.

May 13 South East Kansas FS/GR May 20 May 27 June 3 KS State Freestyle/Greco Chmpshps As stated before, SEK FS/GR has cancelled their tourney on the 13th. Derby is working on a possible tournament for this date or the 27th. Not sure if everything is set in stone yet, but I do know that we are working on getting a venue to put on an event on one of those dates. More information will be available later today.

Crash, we are working on the 13th too, at WHY, soooooo, if you are, please tell me soon. We DO NOT want to go on the same weekend as you and compete for wrestlers. We are working on our building and will hear today but I will back out if you are going that day. We are just trying to get more tourneys on the schedule.
Thanks and let me know,
Ms. Jenni

24/7, Yeah I need to ask Gonz/Mike/Eric about our plans. I would like to go again to the Park Hills FS duals, and Garret mentioned it last week. I can't remember if the dual was only for Jr. Do you think Garret (younger cadet) could hold up with the Juniors?

Anyone interested in putting together a cadet/junior squad for the duals? I have in my house alone a 145, 152, 171, and 275 available to be part of a squad--

There will be a Greco/Freestyle tournament hosted by the Ellsworth Club at Ellsworth High School on May 13, 2006! Take advantage of the early sign-up special at the Manhattan Tournament this weekend. Ellsworth Greco - Freestyle Tournament May 13, 2006!

Ms. Jenni, I'm sorry that i didn't get back to you sooner, but i just found out myself that Derby is going to have the tournament on the 27th and not the 13th. I hope this hasn't deterred your plans for having a tourney on the 13th. Let me know if you are still planning on having a tournament on that date. Thanks!
