Hello Lady Wrestlers,
Well we went to Minnesota and made a name for ourselves and promoted Kansas proud. The Kansas Krusaders took 15 Girls to FILA Women's Cadet and Junior Nationals & University, High School and Girls National Championships. Out of the 15 girls, everyone placed and we had 4 All American Champions. There were girls from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii. We also had the pleasure of watching 2 of our own home grown girls wrestle in the competition,Brooke Bogren and Keli Hinton.
They also placed, I only know that Brooke took second. The West division had placers with Tayler Frederiksen-2nd,Regina Ward-3rd,Samantha Gonzales-4th. Central division had placers with Lauren Rivard-4th, Tina Karol-2nd, Maria Ponce-3rd, Tiffany Hansen-1st, Cherissa Elston-6th, Monica Klingsporn-1st, Hali Cornejo-3rd. The Northeast division had Mandy Bohnkenper-3rd, Kristie Self-1st, Dominique Grizzle-1st,Jenna Dickman 2 divisions-2nd & 3rd. The Southeast division had Danette O'hara-2nd. There is one thing I have to say about all these girls is that all these girls had only learned Freestyle over the last 3 weeks. Kristie Self learned freestyle that night during our team meeting, also by picking one of the coaches brains most of the night. As a coach I was very proud of them and hope to have an even bigger showing next year. We do have to admit that we were the largest team at the event.
