Has a computer draw, like that used to bracket High School State, ever been considered? How are the 2nd/3rd place seatings on the USAWKS State bracket actually determined?

It shouldn't really matter where you get seated in the state bracket. If you want to be the champion, you should be able to beat anyone in the bracket. Whoever wrestles the best in the tournament will win it all.

I thought that the high school state bracket was set up the same way - only you don't know which "letter" your district is until after regionals, vs. kids where district 1 vs. 4. If I'm wrong please educate me. :-)

The state hs wrestling tourney is set up the exact same way as kids club - with exceptions.
The kids state tourney is designed from one formula and all brackets fall the same way.
The high school brackets are still a formula, but instead of Region 1's #1 wrestling Region 4's #4, They mix it up. It could be Region #3's #1 wrestling Region 4#1, etc.
Fairly simple to do with just 14 weights. It would be a nightmare with kids and all the brackets.

I like the idea of the predetermined brackets - all you have to do is plug in the names once you have them. By predetermining there can be no complaints of unfairness or biasness (is that a word?), which I am sure is why it is done this way.

Gibby, I think I understand what you are saying. That is how the HS bracketing was explained to me from another source prior to my posting.
The bracket is set and never changes with the four #1's evenly distributed across the bracket. Same as USAW Kids...accept you do not know which quarter of the bracket you are in until the computer draw. The #2-#4 seeds are placed on the bracket in a similar manor. All it does is add a little more random placing of the kids on the bracket...which in theory should balance the bracket better if you have an overpowering district. I do agree that with the additional weight classes and multiple age divisions it may not be feasible in USAW Kids. However, an option could be to computer draw one bracket instead of doing all of them. I am sure there are just as many positive comments to this as there are negativeā¦I am just looking to spur discussion and possibly improve on the great event we already have set up.
This year a bracket was published and then later changed. To be honest that is what made me start thinking about this. F@H is right...to reach your goal you shouldn't worry about placing on the bracket.... However, there are kids in any bracket you would rather go up against in the semi-finals rather than in the quarter-finals. Which brings me back to the second question of my original post...I am not implying anything was done wrong...I am just curious for future reference. How is the placing of the #2 and #3 seeds on the bracket determined?
