Caldwell clearly is the number 1 seed here.
Bridgeford is somewhat of an unknown-he won Derby last year beating Furches, but Bridgeford could not make weight at state and also had an average showing at Brute so it is difficult to know which Bridgeford will show up. Nonetheless, he is undefeated and returning Derby champ and deserves the #2 seed.
The number 3 seed should probably be Tanenbaum. He is undefeated and was a Cadet All-American this summer in a weight class that had over 95 kids! He has been in the shadows of Shumate and Ely and Perez but has continued to improve. He is a returning Derby finalist.
#4 seed should be Graham. A great wrestler when it counts but, he has 2 losses this year and his state championships have come against average opponents that have soundly been beaten by others
5th seed-Bowen. Undefeated this year and wrestling very strong

What would be nice would just to make this weight a round-robin with the top 6 seeds and let each tough kid get 5 quality matches and put any seeding issues to rest

Tyler is undefeated in his high school career.

Last years freshman season record was 39-0.

After the Emporia Winter Classic Tyler's current season record is 10-0.

I thought I had seen were Tyler had lost one earlier this year. I noticed it, because I knew he hadn't lost up to that point. I guess I must off misread the results. If he does get beat someday I hope I'm around to see the match, because it will be a show stopper of a match I'm sure. Keep up the good work Tyler.

To my understanding, Tyler has never lost in HS, he did lose at Fargo but a whole other story there. Tyler is likely, imo, the best wrestler at his weight in the country. That being said, and I think Tyler likely knows it, there is a reason you wrestle the matches.

I agree Tyler should be #1 seed, but I'm not sure I agree with Grahams state titles comming against average opponents that have been soundly beaten by others.Few average wrestlers qualify for state and Seth Metzler was anything but average.Beating Tyler would be an upset but not as big an upset as the 2005 state win over Seth IMO

The seeding will most likely end up the following based on the CRITERIA most tournaments use:

1. Caldwell- returning state champ with a victory over someone Graham has lost to this year.

2. Graham- 2x state champ, none of the others top that as far as criteria are concerned.

3-4. Probably a draw between Bowen and Tannenbaum- both are returning placers with undefeated records which means that neither has a win over a common opponent that the other has lost to.

5. Bridgeford- no state placings and a jump from 103 to 125. Probably no win over any of these wrestlers last year since he was at 103.

Again, this is not necessarily a seeding of the wrestlers by ability, but by criteria used to determine seeding. The only way to tell who has the better ability is to get them on the mat!

Twink… with logic like that, it’s obvious that you have sat through a few seeding meetings. Have you ever considered being a Head Coach? You seem to have a very good grasp for how the game is played! I would imagine that you will make a considerable contribution to the sport someday with your vast knowledge of wrestling! Somebody ought to polish you into a fine gem stone that can be admired for its brilliant luster.

I almost fell for the supposed Prant girlfriend trick too. It is kind of the opposite of a magician making an elephant disappear. As with most optical illusions I can't quite explain how he is making this attractive apparition appear, but I know in my gut that it can't be true.

See ya at Newton!
