Don't know all of them, wish I did, there were a number of very good semi matches though, some very close.

Derby needs to do a website like some of the other tournaments.

That's not all Derby needs! Let's try some ventilation in the gym, or better yet, two mats in each of their two gyms, similar to the way Blue Valley runs theirs. So that maybe there would be sufficient seating for fans and wrestlers. This would allow air circulation, the ability to see the mats (because too many people linger at mat's edge in an effort to see and the people in the bottom ten rows of bleachers can't see)

And hey, why not put the brackets side by side along the entire length of the trophy case glass? What's with piling 4 weight brackets in the same pane of glass and making people have to crowd around to read an 8-Font bracket, seems simple enough to place a bracket, move to the right, tape another bracket, there was plenty of space.

This tournament draws some of the best schools in the area, and with its prime scheduling right after Christmas also is a good indicator of what the second half (the critical portion) of the season is going to portend. It would seem to me they could do a better job of accommodating the wrestler, the coaches and the fans.

103-keller wins a weak wt. class
112-keller outwrestles Furches no other competition
119-Maple wins a weak wt. class
125-Bridgeford dominates a stacked bracket-2time state champ Graham places 4th
130-Godfrey wins a weak wt. class-any of the top 4 125lb would have won 130
135-Price wins a weak wt. class
140-Arnold proves his talent against Koehn
145-Hynick beats Detmer in the best final of the night-a fun wrestler who never gives up
152-Koehn beats Bonewell; a tough wt. class; Serbosek finally sees some real competition and ends up 6th
160-redshirt sophmore Boaz dominates a weak wt.
171-Curran comes back from injury last year and dominates a weak wt.
189-Elliott pins-no competition here
215-Page wins an exciting match
275-Holly excites with a last minute victory-it's nice to see an exciting heavweight final for once

Not the first time Graham has ended up in the consolations...It seems a lot of times it's the state tournament he's in the finals of and that's it.

mat dog... If I read your post in the proper context, in your opinion sprinkle in a hand full of great wrestlers and the rest were "fish". I find this hard to believe. This was by no means was the place that things will decide the rest of the year. Caldwell’s loss doesn’t count… it just prove that he’s human. If a young man never losses then how do they get better? Zach Roberson even lost a match during his high school career, and is one of the all-time greats in the sport and maybe even in the world in the next few years. BC is and will always be a great team! These guys got a hot line to the Pope, what do you expect!

And the great Sweazy advanced to how many tournament finals?

Who beat Roberson in HS? And since Caldwell lost to a NEB kid, will it not appear on his record when he gets to KS state?

I'm sorry about Roberson; his bio on the Iowa State web site says his HS record was 153-0 with 109 pins. Unless you count his only loss at Senior HS Nationals in the finals. I wanted to reply before Mr. Salyer called me out or Zach beats me up! The loss of Caldwell's will count... in state or out of state opponents his record will show a loss, my comment was a figure of speech about the big picture. The season is still young and I'm sure he will bounce back!
