KCdad - I agree with your point. I don't know what the official criteria is to be considered a 'novice' but based on what you said, to this 'layman' he sure would seem like a novice to me.
So, what is the criteria for being labeled a novice?
If you were wrong in not following the criteria, it would definitely fall under the category of an honest mistake.
