Almaguer has found another gear this season. If anyone doubts the benefits of summer wrestling they should look at Adam. Starting in March of last year he was competing in National tournaments and did so through July. I am confident he wrestled well over 40 matches. He now is one of the top kids at his weight plus he has signed to wrestle in college. His high school coaches deserve the most praise but I am sure Adam will give credit to the summer program as well.

Besides where else but in summer wrestling do you get a chance to go to China town in Chicago and eat weird food and buy silky robes?

I agree with Disney. Almaguer looked sharp this weekend.

Not only is Adam a great wrestler on the mat, he is a great role model off the mat. My son is a freshman, wrestling varsity with Adam. Adam has not only given him a great deal of respect, which is something not many freshman get, he has given him much needed advise on how to handle yourself in situations. While the coaches also offer this advise, I think the kids listen to their team mates a little more. It is great to see a kid with as much talent as he has take time for others.
I think Adam Almaguer is a class act.

Almaguer was my second choice. He won a brutal weight class. I felt that Zlatnic was the most dominate wrestler in the tournament though.

Almauger was awesome at Basehor. Our Suflower League should be quite good with Adam, Peoples and Zach Hertzel from Lawrence a state placer @ 135 last year.

Roth lost to Isaac Ruiz (FR-JC) and Dennis Wood in the backside semis. Corwin lost to Dakota Hall (FS) in the semis.

Adam is a very good wrestler. He would have been an excellent choice for the most outstanding wrestler award. It has to be a difficult decision for an award like this with so many quality wrestlers in the tournament. I believe several of them could have won this award.

I would certainly not dispute your statement though about Duane Zlatnik being the most dominant wrestler in the tournament. I think my son would definitely agree with that statement too.

From my son's Aquinas team Jed Mamie 189 and Mike Hammer 215 also put on dominant performances in winning their divisions.

Congratulations to all the champions in this tournament. This is a very tough tournament to take first place in.

Hey Chief, I am told that Webb (SME) will make a run for it at 145.
