What is the advantage of a wrestler forfeiting a match and then finishing out in the consolation brackett?

I am not sure there is an advantage but I do know a couple young men had to get skin tested and didn't make it back for their matches at Beloit so had to forfeit their first match.

Yes

It happened in the second or third round. A kid forfieted a match and then came back thru the consilation round.

Does not really matter who it was or where he was from I just was trying to see if there was a reason a wrestler would do this.
It actually shows as a dflt. Would this count as a loss when seedings are done?

It is my understanding that a wrestler cannot intentionally forfeit a match without being disqualified from the rest of the tournament unless they are injured or suffer an illness. Otherwise, it would allow people to dodge other wrestlers in the consolation bracket.

I'm not sure how it would play out in a seeding meeting, but I guess it could be a point of argument if the "winner" of the default placed higher in the tournament. If neither wrestler placed, it seems kind of shaky to me though, especially if they never actually stepped out on the mat together.
