It's not about the money. The board has more than they know what do with. They act concerned about spending too much on the older kids when the big revenue is generated by the younger kids. Continued support of the Schoolboy Duals is critical.

Sportfan2-You are terribly misguided! The Schoolboy kids that are representing our state at Schoolboy duels are not who we need to "drive" to the Southern Plains camp. Many of them will be there anyway. It's the kids who are not participating in summer wrestling at all we need to "drive" there.

I respect that a decision was made and will abide by it until we can discuss the issue again.

Given that the camp is mandatory I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer for me....

1. Can club coaches or parents attend the camp? Are we expected to send our 6,8, and 10 year olds to a week long, stay overnight camp without their parents or their coaches?

2. Who is allowed to coach the kids at the tournament? Is it only the KS team coaches that are allowed to coach or can the club coaches coach their kids?

3. Since one of the reasons for having this camp was to foster a Team Kansas concept, do the kids that attend camp and compete get a Team KS tshirt, shorts, singlet like the rest of the teams?

I am not trying to throw stones here. I know as a club coach I am going to get asked these questions by parents. Like 24/7 and the Schoolboy issue, I would like to work to develop a reasonable solution so we can maximize participation.

The schoolboy issue has been addressed. They are going to give them a day or so to rest them come into the camp. That seems fair. Thanks.

Shawn, I think I can answer a few of the questions unless things have changed someone can correct me. You can come and stay at the camp with your smaller kids. I know Jeff Roberts did last year. You just have to pay for the dorm meals, etc. I believe you can coach your kids as well, as I always have in the past. The camp coaches are there to help as well, and the kids seem to like having you and a camp coach there with them. All of the kids that go to the camp get a team T-Shirt. That has been all in the past. They put there own shorts with it and wear their own singlets.

I'm not sure how my idea of defunding Schoolboys effects that then, and according to Chief Renegade it's not about money anyway. I say take the funds from Schoolboys and use at least part of those monies to hire better clinicians for Southern Plains if needed.

There is, find out who voted for what as was previously stated. Is there a place where we can see how individual members of the executive board voted on this issue? The membership deserves that answer despite which position they take. Hopefully the minutes of that meeting will be available soon.

Boy oh boy don't we all love the voice of reason my question is, Can we get a listing of the voting members and there vote for or against this Southern Plains Requirement for we are all USAWKS members and it should be listed in plain site for all to view.

I agree with Jerry. How many votes are there? Does each district get 4 votes from the north/south, Director/Sub-Director?

Call to arms I would like to see this info please it is not that difficult I cannot believe all that has been posted here and voiced at many local events and we are back to square one I and all would like to see the voting members listed and there vote it is not that difficult. Folks we are the members if you do not voice your concerns this group or any group you are a member of does not know what direction to go this is a huge issue and needs more than just a pass.
This is USAWKS money being used they cannot dictate what direction to use this on unless we all agree?
Think of it this way it’s your money not mine and not just a select group that attends the Camp we all if we wanted can compete at this tournament. What is this RUSSIA?

This was a public meeting so the minutes will be public. The vote was taken by hands and not recorded per individual. The vote was about 4 in favor and I believe 8 against.

Yes, each District-Director, Sub-Director, and FS/GR-Director has a vote ... plus those listed by Regedade. However, not every member was in attendance.

And as a side bar ... most members of the executive council are elected by the general body.

Posting the results of the vote has nothing to do with debating the issue. The general body has a right to see how they're elected officials voted. Moving on without knowing would contribute to the problem.

Most of the officers are listed on the State/District Officer tab under the Kids Division!

The Parliamentarian is NOT a voting member of the Executive Council!

After much discussion on the matter, the Parliamentarian made the motion to rescind the camp requirement, and after a second on the motion, and again further discussion, the Parliamentarian called for the vote.

The vote was made by a show of hands, first in favor of rescinding the motion, followed by a show of hands not in favor of rescinding the motion.

The motion to rescind the camp requirement failed, and I do not recall exactly what the vote tally was, however that information will be available in the minutes.

Again why was there more discussion after the vote to rescind this camp requirement I suppose it was not the outcome some wanted and then there was some Absolute confusion we should rescind this and not have this requirement. KANSAS will again loose more wrestlers I just cannot believe we need to discuss this when we should be trying to get a D1 Program in this state and now KIDS will be NOT allowed to wrestle if they don't attend this camp what next you can't wrestle at local tournament X if you don't attend Camp Y come on we need this requirement dropped NO CAMP.

All of the anti-campers will be able to voice your opinion on it at the November state meeting. Just like you were able to do last year.

Calling us anti-campers is like calling them anti-family. Neither is true.
