I'm here, on the campus of Ft. Hays State University, in beautiful and soggy, Hays, Kansas. The frogs are climbing the fence posts ... seeking higher ground.

Me, I'm on the fifth floor so I think I'll be safe!

I arrived this evening, in time to help with the scrimmage Team Kansas had. Bob Phillips reports about 90 campers in all. We may, be well represented after all!

Tomorrow, starting at 11 am, I will be holding a Bronze Clinic. If anyone needs certification, this might be a great chance!

Wrestling in Greco starts tomorrow evening and I hope to have a few reports from the venue. 8 full size mats are on the floor of Gross Memorial.

... the frogs are now breaking out the umbrellas! Maybe they have room on the sixth floor!!!

Randy:

My planned trip was cancelled yesterday and I will be unable to attend.

My reserved room at The Hampton was released at 3:00 P.M. yesterday and may still be available.

Thanks Richard but I think I'm safe in the dorms!

Had a decent night of sleep ... I'm looking for breakfast! IHOP sounds good.

Randy,

Thanks for the update. It is great to know that we have so many that attended the camp and they were able to scrimmage. Do you have any info on how it went (Juniors or Cadet, who was on team kansas, wins losses)

Thanks and keep up the outstanding support.

I've just wrapped up my Bronze clinic which had 7 coaches in it!

We are now getting ready for the first round of Greco!!

I've been kind of "out of the loop" for a few hours but hope to catch up quickly. John, I will try to get a bit of logistical data for all you reading from home.

The Greco rules clinic is going on now.

I've just heard from one of the PTB that Kansas had over 40 walk-ups at registration!

From trackwrestling.com I find that 74 Kansans are entered in the Cadet and below division.

And an outstanding number, 26 Juniors are entered!

12 States are represented including 5 from Florida. The Florida team is coached by Hank Porcher of Oviedo HS who also attended this years Silver Coaches College at the WTT this year!

This tournament will be managed and updated by Track Wrestling! If all you need is results, perhaps that will be a better site for you. I will give a bit of a report on the Kansas wrestlers that I can see from my perch!

Go Team Kansas!

According to my rudimentary math skills, we have 100 wrestlers competing in Greco. That's a decent number I think!!

To my estimation, Gross Memorial, is a great place to hold a wrestling tourney. The floor access is really restricted and even those on the floor can be pushed back to the surrounding track.

Tyler Koehn just won his first bout!

It is good to see that full 3-man mechanics are being used on all mats.

Also, as of yet, there has not been a call for volunteers!

Romero Cotton had a sweet, 5-point throw to win the first frame. He followed that with a pair of 3-point lifts from par terre.

Scott Elliott won the first period, 5-3 and the second, 2-2.

It's a lot easier for me to follow the wrestlers I've seen before. Those that aren't wearing a Team Kansas singlet are especially tough.

Daniel DeShazer won a bout by injury default. Nick Flynn won a close bout but a win by any other name still goes in the W column.

Joey Hambleton had a rough first bout as he lost in consecutive periods.

The Schoolboy, Novice, and Bantam mats are the furthest from my perspective. I am not intentionally slighting these warriors worthy of reports but I just can't see them!

The first minute of Tyler Koehn's bout was scoreless. His Oklahoma foe won the flip and during a lift, Tyler was charged with a leg foul. The score was 0-2. Tyler quickly dispensed with the reverse lift and used a couple of guts to win the first period.

The second period was again scoreless after 1-minute. This time Tyler won the flip. A pair of guts later and the score was 4-0. Tyler did give up a 2-point gut but one the bout.

I am seeing a few Kansas singlets of the far mats and a few are winning. I'm sorry, I just don't recognize them!

Gage Deere is a winner by fall in the second frame. Gage threw a sweet head-and-arm for the victory.

T.J. Leonard loss a tough one.

Romero got the press fall in his next bout. He won the flip in a scoreless bout and ended it quickly.
