Chief,
Wow, some realy great wrestling. I appreciate the updates. I can't get away from the computer, since I can't get Alex to call at least every 10 minutes!
1st round of 32 results! All three KS teams are now 2-2.
Kansas Gold - 55
Tennessee - 38
Kansas Blue - 54
Michigan B - 28
Kansas Red loses to South Dakota. I'm unsure of the final score but Kansas had a lead and lost it in the upper weights. I'll try and get the Red team's individual stats posted a little later. They have a bye next round and are done for the day.
Kansas Gold is just starting their last dual of the day against Nebraska White and Kansas Blue has the Montana A team. If they both win.....they wrestle each other first thing tomorrow!
P. S. Reece Conklin injured his shoulder (not severe) and is not expected to return. Kansas got an alternate from another team to fill in for him.
Kansas Gold is beating Nebraska 28-0 so far. Kansas Blue is tied 6-6 with Montana's A team. This is a dated update. I should have a final by 7:30.
Still in progress...
Kansas Gold - 54
Nebraska White - 11
Leupold just won 4-3 in the 152 match. KS Gold will advance to tomorrow's quarter-final against the winner of Montana A and KS Red.
Kansas Red - 15
Montana A - 35
It is a tall order for KS Red to win this one.
If Kansas Gold beats Montana A tomorrow, they will face an incredibly tough Illinois Gold team in the Semis. Illinois faces Nebraska Red in the other quarter-final. I hopefully will have finals on these as well as updated individual results tonight.
These duals are fantastic. Kansas has to make these Middle School Duals a priority in the years to come. Taking 60 Kansas middle schoolers to wrestle for their state against the nation's best competition is an awesome preparation for High School!
Go Kansas!
Kansas Blue did lose to Montana A, setting up a Kansas Gold vs. Montana A quarter-final tomorrow. I should have all of the details by 9:30pm.
Here are the results for Kansas Red today:

Man was that a tough round.
Each of our KS teams are in a different medal round. The Gold team made the Gold bracket, The Blue team made the Silver bracket and the Red team made the Bronze bracket. There is also a Copper bracket, all had 7 teams in them (28 total).
All 3 of our KS teams are now wrestling for 3rd/4th in each of the top three brackets!!!!
This last round was the semis for each team.
Kansas Gold - 27
Illinois Elite - 62
I believe that Taylor Moeder and Ryne Cokeley are the two KS kids that are still undefeated. Cokeley had to fight off his back to win 7-6.
Kansas Blue - 43
Minnesota - 54
This was a heartbreaker. The Blues were leading in 5 matches and got pinned. One of those, Jake Gentzler gave up a defensive pin!
Kansas Red - 19
Tennessee - 78
Here are the Consolation Finals match-ups:
Kansas Gold vs. Iowa Black (#1 through #7 bracket)
Kansas Blue vs. Iowa Gold (#8 through #14 bracket)
Kansas Red vs. Montana B (#15 through #21 bracket)
This is a FANTASTIC showing by our Middle Schoolers! To place top 4 in each bracket is huge.
The matches just started. Update shortly....
In progress....
Kansas Gold - 0
Iowa Black - 9
Hunter Haralson, who has had a great tournament, was tied 0-0 with 10 seconds left and gave up a Peterson to lose 4-0. The Iowa Black team took 3rd last year and are loaded. This will be Moeder and Cokeley's toughest match.
Kansas Blue vs. Iowa Gold just started.
Kansas Red - 21
Montana B - 9
It looks like our Reds have the best chance to win out of these three.
All wrestlers are awarded individual awards by their records.
Undefeated = Gold
1 loss = Silver
2 losses = Bronze
3 losses = Copper
Last year Kansas took two extremely tough teams and finished #8 and #10 out of 31. We should sure be proud of these Kansas kids!
Almost over...
Kansas Gold - 3
Iowa Black - 50 (still in progress)
Congratulations to Taylor Moeder for being the only undefeated wrestler from Kansas! Ryne Cokeley lost 0-4.
Kansas Blue - 9
Iowa Gold - 42 (still in progress)
Kansas Red - 49
Montana B - 27 (still in progress)
Out of 28 teams......

Thanks to the coaches, Baughman, Moeder, Williams, Kriss, Vander Linden and Collins!!!
As always, Will Cokeley put major work into this trip. Mark your calendars for next year. If we keep showing up with the best Kansas has to offer, the rewards for our kids will be something they will never forget!
I will try and post totals for individuals.
Again, WAY TO GO KANSAS MIDDLE SCHOOLER'S!

KS Gold - 4th in Gold bracket
KS Blue - 4th in Silver bracket
KS Red - 3rd in Bronze bracket
I just returned home from a long weekend of the best wrestling I have ever witnessed by Middle Schoolers. All the Kansas Teams were filled with great wrestlers and great kids. Competition was extreme and I cannot be more proud to be a Kansas Middle School wrestlers parent. I worked the Kansas Team Gold scorers table all weekend and it the best time I have ever had at a wrestling tournament. Thanks to Will Cokeley and all the Kansas coaches-made some great friends this weekend and I wish there could be more opportunities for this kind of comraderie for our kids. You had to be there to see these 60 kids [some who have never met] become good friends and work so great together. A weekend I will never forget.AAAAAAHHHHHHHH Kansas!!!!!!![that was our team cheer]
Danny Scanlon
I want to thank all of the parents who supported their kids by sending them to Middle School National Duals this past weekend. Many of the parents helped coach, keep score, run the time clocks, and drove the vans. A special thanks to Bob and Patty Beck. This was their first wrestling road trip and they volunteered their time running a clock and keeping score for Kansas Blue. They were real troopers! Tom Baughman, Dal Eck, and Tim Moeder coached the gold team, Tom Williams and Kevin Kriss coached the Blue Team, Matt Collins and Doug Vanderlinden were at the helm for the red. Phil McComb, Donny Habluetzel, Danny Scanlon and John Leupold drove vans and helped with scoring and time keeping. Brian Schumacher, Butch Dreily, Tim Moeder, Freddy Medina, and Bob Roman pitched in to help transport kids from all over state. Kids wrestling would not be possible without dedicated parents like these.
All of the kids had a great time. For many of them it was their first experience wrestling outside of Kansas or Missouri. They got to see one of the best Middle School Wrestling teams in the country, some them up close and personal, Team Jordan from Ohio. It was both rewarding and humbling for all them.
I made all of the kids who are not going to be moving up to high school promise to join us again next year and I really hope we have enough interest to have four teams from the Sunflower state next year!!
Thanks again to all of the parents and kids!!
Thank you for one of the best wrestling experiences I have ever been a part of. It was great watching these kids become friends and cheer each other on! They will remember this trip for a lifetime. Thanks again Will, all of the kids, coaches, and parents that made this possible!

Does anyone have the overall individual records?
I want to thank Will and all the other coaches for all the work that they put in this weekend and the weeks before. This was an expereince that ever wrestler should have the opportunity to have. My son made so many new friends and spoke so highly of the coaching staff how everyone was treated with so much respect, it didn't matter if you were a State Champ or not.
As a parent it was wonderful seeing him hanging out with his team mates and talking about things he did with guys he competed agains in Kids Club. Since he wrestled for Red team and watched how that team just bonded like they had been together for years. This says alot for their parents that they have such fine young men.
I enjoyed watching the Duals.
Thanks again for all the hard work by all to make this happen for these boys.
J.D. McKnight's mom
I want to thank all of the Kansas Blue Team for their efforts this weekend. The boys wrestled with heart and pride and more than carried their weight. I wish I could mention each one but they all made me proud against fierce competition. I especially want to thank Kevin Kriss for hours of coaching effort and the Becks for hours of volunteering/working after paying to get in the event. Will Cokeley, Eric Johnson, Doug Vanderlinden and all the organizers put in countless hours to pull this off and we all take these guys for granted. The boys were great, caused no problems and I'm sure all made many friends and will have memories for a lifetime. With Kansas Gold finishing 4th overall, Kansas Blue 4th in Silver, and Kansas Red 3rd in Bronze pool, we showed we go at it with anybody. What a great way to end the folkstyle season.
Tom Williams
Overall I believe it was an awesome experience for everyone who made the trip. Lots of great wrestling and all of the kids had a great time. Will did an excellent job of organizing this trip, 60 kids involved and it went off with out a hitch. Congratulations to Taylor Moeder who went undefeated at 8-0, Ryne Cokeley and Camron Leupold both went 7-1. There were also quite a few that only had two or three losses for the tournament. Great job guys!

My wife and I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything Will C. and Eric J. did to make National Middle School Dual teams come together. Also a big THANK YOU to Tom B., Dal E. and Tim M. for coaching the gold team, they did a great job. Then we can’t forget the other coaches and parents, because without them this couldn’t have taken place THANK YOU SO MUCH. It takes very special and dedicated people to make an event like this take place and it seems here in Kansas we have those very people.
Devon had a great time and I am sure he will never forget this opportunity. What a great experience for him and the other kids from Kansas. My wife and I thought it was great to see kids and parents from across the State who before this weekend had never met, come together and cheer for each other as if they had been a team for several years. Also it was great to see coaches who had never met a kid, coach that kid as if they had been coaching them for several years. They all truly became a TEAM.
Our hope is that many more kids in years to come will have this same opportunity. The experience and camaraderie, gained during this weekend is unmatched. The tournament was very well run, and the experience of having the dual team format was exciting and gave these kids the opportunity to participate in duals similar to what they will be soon facing in their high school years.
Will, if there is anything that I can do to help ensure that future kids get this opportunity, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I feel that Kansas kids should have this opportunity and if there is anything I can do to help make sure this happens, I will.

Note: These are the "Official" Kansas Red Results. We had 4 great alternates on Kansas Red. We worked hard to rotate our guys so that each wrestler competed in at least one dual Saturday and Sunday both. However, the tournament officials did not catch this as they were updating our wrestler's records. We notified them of the corrected records and each of the 10 guys listed above earned the medals out to the side of their names.
A special thanks to Will Cokeley for organizing another successful Middle School national team. He has taken over 100 kids on 5 teams in 2 years and showed that our Kansas kids can compete with the best of the best. Also, thanks to the parents that coached, drove vans, were room supervisors, ran tables, and more importantly found the resources to allow their kids to compete for Team Kansas.
Thanks to Matt Collins (Emporia Wrestling Club Head Coach) for another great run in coaching Kansas Red. We have been 8-7 over the past 2 years with 2 third place finishes in Brackets. He is a great guy to work with and a great coach! (Plus, Coach Matt I stayed awake the entire road trip this year. ha!) Also thanks to Phil McComb, Dave Hudson, Butch Drylie, Bob Roman and Mike Skillman for helping out everytime we asked. Also, thanks to the Kansas Red Parents for making the trip and being Loud & Proud!!

Hi Richard Salyer -
I just wanted to make a quick correction to your post for Jared McComb of the Red team.
His record was 5-2 and one loss was to Team Jordan!
I want to agree with everyone else that this was an amazing opportunity for the boys and I know Jared looks forward to the opportunity to compete again next year.
Thank you to everyone involved and especially Will for organizing it.

The results were obtained from the AAU website at the following link.
AAU Wrestling!Scroll down to AAU Middle School Duals and there are two links for team results and individual results
If the results listed for your son are incorrect it is quite likely there are additional errors.
I now have pictures of all three teams. The Blue pic is not as good as Gold and Red, but maybe someone can send me another. If anyone wants a pic, please email me at wilgt@msn.com. Also, please pass this along as I think not everyone looks at the site.
Thanks, Tom Williams
