Can I ask why Anthony Monares is not listed in the 84 group. He and Holland are equal on wins and losses. At the Johnson County tournament Holland beat Anthony 8-2 then same day same tourney Anthony came back and beat him 9-2. Then in Salina, Anthony beat Holland in match one with a pin then when Cullen Hood beat Anthony and sent him to the backside of the bracket Anthony lost to Holland 7-6 and that was after being hurt and ending up with a bruised jaw from the match before.(and getting unnecessary roughness penalty points from the match agains Cullen Hood.) I am just not sure why or what makes these kids listed above better than any of the boys they go against every week. As I have told my son many times over the last few years, never expect to win they could be having a better day than you and no matter how many times you have beat them they can and will come back and beat you at some point. Case in point, Anthony has wrestled Cullen Hood for 4 years and Cullen has always pinned him, but this year Anthony wreslted him at Salina and lost by points. Even after getting his jaw bruised and being in pain he never gave up and he walked off the mat with his pride and feeling great about the fact that Cullen didn't pin him. Yet he gets on here and reads that Holland and the others he has wrestled and beat are talked about but not him. How do I explain this. As a side note he has also wrestled against Dulgarian and held his own. He beat a kid that was up two weight classes at the Burlington tournament with a pin. So he is just as much of a threat as the other boys on your list.
You are more than welcome to add him to the list, not everyone knows everything about particular wrestlers or may not be willing to add their 2 cents. That is why it is stated that there may be others. Have a nice day. ;-)
kswresltermom: Although I have been out of the country this year, I have been able to spend a lot of time checking tournament results when I am not working. The success that Anthony is having this year has not gone without notice, at least not from me. Our sons wrestled each other a lot over the years, all the way back to the 'good old novice days'. I made a prediction last year about a young man that both of our boys wrestled quite a bit in the past. Although he hadn't made it to Districts before, the progress he showed on the mat caused me to tell my son that he would not only make it to State, but I believed that he would come away with a medal. He proved me right when he made it all the way to the State Championship match.
I am making another prediction, and I havn't even seen any matches this year, but based on the tournament results so far and some of the wrestlers he has beaten, Anthony has a real shot at making some noise in the 84 pound weight class during his District 1 post season tournaments, as well as getting a win or two at State.
Anthony seems to have made a lot of progress the last couple of years, and he won't be flying under the radar much longer.
Garrett's Dad
