Over the years I have gotten to know Jerry Dale, he has been a friend, a real and loyal friend that I appreciate more than I can say. Last night Jerry lost his mom from the results of a stroke. Keep Jerry and the rest of his family in your prayers. Losing a mom isn’t easy, and I know many know Jerry and knew his mom. Thanks for joining in prayers and support for the family.

Jo was a High Spirited woman who was an avid fan and loved the sport of wrestling. She would show up to matches years after Jerry was through competing. She will be greatly missed by Ark City and the wrestling community.

Georgia Lou "Jo" Dale, 78, of Arkansas City, died Monday (February 2, 2009) at the Via Christi Medical Center - St. Francis Campus of Wichita. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday (February 7, 2009) at the First Assembly of God in Arkansas City. Pastor James Newman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home Friday evening 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Then, on Saturday evening the family requests friends to come to the Alumni Grill beginning at 5:00 p.m.for another time of fellowship.

Jo was born April 14, 1930 in Sedan to Leslie and Thelma (McSpadden) Smith. She was reared and educated in Sedan. She worked as a clerk for many years for the Arkansas City Dillion’s Grocery Store and was the owner of Jo’s Pet Parlor. Jo was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church. She was an avid bowler and member of the Arkansas City Women’s Bowling Association. Known for her wit and kindness Jo knew no strangers only friends she hadn’t met yet. Her family and friends were always subject to her many "Jo-isms", words and phrases she used to delight, tease and teach.

Survivors include her children Jerry and his companion Stacy Suppes and her sons Jesse and Jared all of Hesston, Kansas, Beth and her husband Mickie Schmith of Arkansas City; a brother Loren "Buddy" Smith of Sedan; sister Myda "Mike" Sallee of Winfield; two grandchildren Michael Dale and Anthony Dale-Brown, plus many others that called her "Mamma Jo" or "Grandma Jo".

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Jeff, a brother Frank Smith, and a sister Laura Olberding.

Memorials have been established with the Cowley County Humane Society or the Arkansas City Take Down Club, due to her great love of animals and sports. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are being made through Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com

I am really sorry for your loss. We, the Condella family, knew her personally through Mickie and Beth. She was a great person. We truly regret never calling her to come watch our kids wrestle when we went to Arkansas City. We will miss her humor and laughter. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

As many of you know my mother had a massive stroke on Jan. 27th. She fought hard (which anyone that knew her would expect nothing less) but we lost her on Feb. 2. The stress has been almost unbearable and emotions high the last week and a half with the decisions we've had to make and i'm just now slowing down enough in the last few days to see just how much support there has been and with this i would like to thank some people. First of all i know that i would never have made it this far in this situation without Stacy, she has been by my side the whole time supporting me. Sometimes without even having to say a word. Then there are all the kind words that have been posted on this site some by people i don't even know. For the people i've been on the phone with whether it be them calling me or the other way around just listening to me ramble incoherently you'll never know how much it helped. Next would be the incredible people i've surrounded myself with at Team Xtreme. They have been out of this world between making sure sign ups were done, getting Jared to and from practice and fed to actually talking of pulling our team so that they could all be at the funeral, then coming up with a plan of 1 coach volunteering to go to the tourny (thanks Danny B.) and the rest coming in support, which just blew me away seeing coaches and wrestlers there. I have never been prouder to be a part of a group of people then these. Then the coaches from other clubs I don't know all of them yet but will find out at practice this week and make some phone calls but the ones i know of right now i owe dinner to (Jeff Smith and Derby coaches Dave Langley and Newton and the people of the Maize club who said don't worry we will all help with your kids) you guys are amazing. Then at the service to see flowers/plants from people from all the different clubs and families (please don't be offended if i leave some out as i don't have the entire list yet) like Newton wrestling, valley c. and coach s. the Kasitz, the delforges, rangles, and families from our own club, for that i say thank you.
I am humbled, grateful and honored to be a part of the wrestling community.
Thank You all,
Jerry Dale
