On the horizon ... a Bronze clinic in Clearwater in January ... one in Ottawa ... our last chance in Salina! Also Coach Bill Johnson usually does one in Norton!!
We need a few clubs to step up and offer to host a clinic! Requirements for hosting: a suitable (multi-media) classroom for about 7-hours. A willingness to provide refreshments and a light meal.
Tips: If you are within 75-100 miles of a planned clinic, don't wait for one closer!! Our last chance clinic is usually the Sunday of the seeding meetings in Salina!!
Plan ahead ... lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on ours!
There are a couple of basic requirements if you wish to attend a Bronze Clinic. I have copied what can be found under to coaches tab for your convenience!
Coaches are required to complete a background check every two years. Before issuing a current coaches' card, your club will require you to provide proof that you have passed the background check. The cost of the background check is $17. Here are the instructions on what you need to do to complete your background check:
1.
Go to
www.usawmembership.com. 2.
Sign in or create a new account.
3.
Click 'Profile' in the upper right corner of the screen and choose 'BG Check History' near the top of the screen. Please note that you will be required to use a different user id and password in the background check website - do not try to use your USA Wrestling user id and password.
4.
After completing the background check, do not attempt to purchase a membership online. This feature is disabled for Kansas coaches.
5.
After the background check is complete you will receive an email notice indicating whether or not you have successfully passed the background check. Provide this confirmation notice to the club director, who will then be able to purchase your coaches' membership from the state office.
How long do you have to send in your test after you have taken it?
Reminder: There is a Bronze clinic this Sunday the 5th of December in Iola!
Also, there is one in the works for Sublette, probably January 16th!!
Great News!! Just released a Bronze clinic in Southwest Kansas. On January 2nd 2011 we will be offering a clinic in Sublette, Kansas!!
Mark your calendars ... this is the only "planned" Bronze offering in this part of the State!!
We will post the exact location in Sublette when we get it!!
Thanks to the Sublette Wrestling Club for making this happen!!!
Hey Randy,
We have a new coach that became bronze certified last year online, but can't remember for sure what the website was. He thought the site was out of Colorado.
Can you shed some lite on this?

The "on-line" course is offered by USA Wrestling for coaches that have genuine trouble getting to a "in-person" clinic!
In Kansas, this is practically NEVER a problem!
The "in-person" clinic in many's estimation is MUCH superior to the net one!
themat.com has a few offering throughout the year and is also a higher priced clinic!
We had 37 coaches in the clinic at STA!! I had a great time meeting and sharing with all of you!
Sunday, January 2 is the clinic in Sublette!! Let's get signed up for this!!
Hello Hello ... All you coaches that need your Bronze card in Southwest Kansas!!
January 2, 2011 in Sublette we are holding a clinic!!
We had 17 coaches Sunday the 2nd in Sublette ... I was a bit dismayed when I got a call from Hugoton on Monday, wanting to know when we would be back!!
Soon to be announced will be a Bronze clinic in Norton with Coach Bill Johnson! That will be January 23rd!
We still need someone in the Wichita area to step up and offer to host!
Just confirmed! Central Kansas has two clinics scheduled for January 23rd ... one in Norton and one in Wellington!
I was told today that the clinic set for Burlington on Jan 30th will be held at the Burlington Public Library!!
Also on the calendar is our Last Chance clinic in Salina on March 6th!
Randy - I attended the clinic at STA and promptly returned my test. How do I check status on my Bronze card?
Great opportunity upcoming in Norton and Wellington!! Let the clinicians know you are coming!
Then the 30th in Burlington!
In the works, one in February somewhere probably in Topeka!
Then the last chance clinic on March 6th in Salina!
Do you have any more information on the Wellington Clinic?
It Wellington HS beginning at 10 am on the 23rd! Cost $60 and lasts about 7 hours!
The local club will provide a light meal that they accept donations for!
click the coaches tab on the left
Do you have a number so we can call and reserve a spot or do we just show up?
either PM me ... e-mail me ... or call 913-709-6897
Let's get the word out about these two great opportunities this coming Sunday!!
Let the clinician know if you plan to attend either Norton or Wellington!!
Sunday the 23rd was a Great day in Kansas Coaches Ed ... Bill Norton had 38 in his clinic in Norton, I had 31 in the Wellington clinic!
Sunday the 30th, don't forget the clinic in Burlington!!
Just announced, February 13th at Highland Park in Topeka!!
A reminder to those who are submitting their tests and waiting certification ... make sure that you are including on the test, your current USAW Coaches Membership card number!
If your test does not include this ... it requires extra handling by USAW staff (of 1) and if your club has not applied for a card, your test goes to the bottom of the stack!!
T.C.O.B. and the process will go smoother!
Just announced: This a great opportunity to take advantage of!

We had 18 coaches in Burlington yesterday for what I feel was a great clinic!
Now, Topeka on 2/13 and Salina on 3/6 ... that's the only two left on the schedule!
This Sunday, February 13th @ Highland Park in Topeka a local club will provide refreshments and a light meal!!
There are only two clinics left in this Kids year ... the one in Highland Park ... and the last chance in Salina!!!
We had 26 coaches attend the Bronze clinic in Topeka yesterday!
Our only clinic remaining on the calendar for this Kids season is our "Last Chance" clinic in Salina beginning at 1 pm on March 6th.
Make sure you have your current USAW Coaches Card and let me know if you plan to attend!!
Those of you that take the clinic this year WILL be allowed to coach in the State Tournament series!
It is highly unlikely that you will physically be able to submit your test, have your test graded, and receive your credentials in time for the subs!
Those coaches will have their names appear on Randy's Special list! As long as you meet the other requirements, current USAW Coaches membership card and picture ID ... and your name on the Special list, you will be allowed to coach if you are in good standing with your club!!
Randy's Special list will self destruct April 1 of 2011!
So, sign up now to let me know you will be attending!
To all coaches submitting their tests:
Make sure you include your USAW Coaches Card number ... if you don't your test will not be processed in a timely manner!!
This Sunday's clinic in Salina is shaping up to be a big one!! If you plan to attend either pm or call and let me know of your intentions!!
Show up a bit before 1 pm at the Salina Central cafeteria! Have $60 in hand and plan to spend about 6 1/2 hours in fellowship and learning!!
It appears we have enough interest to hold a Bronze clinic in conjunction with Freestyle/Greco State! We need to find a time frame that will work and we need about 6 hours!
I suggest breaking it up into two sessions! Any ideas from the attendees?
I will let you coaches decide! We have two possibilities, either try to squeeze 6 hours out during the State FS/GR tourney or hold a clinic on next Sunday, May 1st!
Doing it in Rosehill would require a real late evening perhaps on Saturday on May 14th and perhaps early May 15th. Attendees might be asked to miss a few matches of the tournament in order to make it work. (possible motel stay Saturday night in Rosehill)
If we held it May 1 we would eliminate the conflicts of the tournament. But May 1st is one of the scheduled weekends for Regional training centers! The clinic would probably be held in Ottawa, starting about 11 am!!
My preference is May 1st but we need to decide quickly!
Our Bronze clinic will be on May 1st beginning at 11 am. It will be held in Ottawa at 216 S. Hickory. (in downtown, one block East of Main)
The State FS/GR WILL require a Bronze certification. Do not arrive in Rosehill and expect an exception.
The cost of the clinic will be $60.00 and it will last about 6 hours!
Is there going to be another certification? I missed the last one!
Our next Bronze clinic will be on Thursday, June 2nd in conjunction with the Southern Plains tourney in Hays!
