Kansas Wrestling
Damon Parker & Joe Knecht,

Having run this Mill Valley Invitational Tourney for the past 8 years, running brackets to and fro, it was good to see the call made to run Matside Scoring.

For those unfamiliar with this option, you will use far less volunteers and much less wasted paper, as all of the results are immediate! As the day comes to an end and it is necessary to move matches, it is easily done simply by click of a mouse and informing the competitors where they need to report.

I was able to assist in some small way the day of the tourney Saturday and can honestly say that the headaches and problems of years past that we would encounter simply did not occur.

For those who are sitting on the fence on whether or not to utilize Trackwrestling and Matside Scoring, all I can say to those Tournament Directors is.....

USE TRACKWRESTLING with MATSIDE SCORING!!!

Jeff Broadbent - Former MVWC Tourney Director

ps - Sean it was good to see you come out of the Hospitality Room for a bit!
Jeff,

I try to do my part in some small way at every tournament.
Thanks for the feedback Jeff. I have to agree with you, matside scoring does alleviate many of the challenges you mention among others. The volunteer one is significant as the requirements for bout running and data entry as was previously required is essentially eliminated.

While there is nothing wrong with using the paper method, if I can help it with making the network and computers available, I prefer the matside approach.

That's my $.25 per wrestler. smile
Agree with Jeff. It's a bit scary at first, but after about 5 matches, anyone will be a pro. And eliminating the wait for bout sheets is priceless!
