Thanks to everyone who came to our tournment and made it a success, we had a good day and things seemed to go pretty smooth. Thanks again and we hope to see you back next year.

Well, That depends on what you call smooth.. Weigh-ins couldn't happen on time cause scales locked in coaches house, Refs were rude and let kids throw punches instead of cross face( This happen alot) ..Then the most confusing thing.. In 8 and U 76-95 lbs bracket the kid who lost all of his matches 2 being pin ( 1 in 14sec, 2nd 43 sec) and lost 17 -2. He won most outstanding wrestler in that bracket...Like I stated " All depends on what you call smooth"

Sounds like I am glad I didn't send my kids.

We drove down from KC. It was a small tournament but things did go smooth. We enjoyed ourselves. I did see 1 dad carry on about an excessive crossface that the ref disagreed on. It is judgement. YOU CAN NOT OVERTURN JUDGEMENT. 1 crossface= 2sides can have different takes on it. That is why it is judgement. 1 opinion matters...the refs. I want to thank SEK for letting us in as we were a late entry. I enjoyed the full mats.

Outstanding wrestler isnt necessarily who won the most matches.. Some tournaments base it on who had the best attitude out there regardless of whether they win or lose.

Will you be posting who won these awards? Outstanding wrestler, quickest pin, and team trophy?

I understand that it is a judgement call however you cannot begin a cross face from behind the back. That was my argument. I was not even trying to get it overturned, I was simply trying to have the other official whom I approached was observing the new official and inform him that this could be an issue in the future and that official of whom I was speaking to developed an extreme attitude with me when I was being respectful towards him. This is when it became heated. I don't like to be disrespected while I am being respectful. I also felt like they may have wanted to explain to the other boy that he may eventually be hit with a flagrant penalty point awarded to the other wrestler. I know the rule and I was strictly trying to be beneficial to both the wrestler and young official. But when the official started right off from the bat with an attitude and basically
questioning my wrestling background and knowledge he was in the wrong. If I would have attempted to have the situation overturned I would have not waited until the end
of the match as I had done. Other then this situation with this official it was a great
tournament. Thank you to Joey Clark and SEK Jr. Comets

Things are not going to be perfect!! This tournament was a lot smaller than we are used too, but a very nice change of pace. Saw a lot of great wrestling!!!! Hope to go back next year.

We drove from hutchinson, Ks to participate in this tourney. Yes, it was small but the competition was AWESOME! The full mats were great and it was really cool to be able to watch most all of the matches. There are a lot of great wrestlers in your area so we were very happy we attened as well.

I thought the officials were doing a great job. Because it was a smaller tourney i do not think that anyone monitored people sitting mat side which made it a bit difficult for the younger wrestlers to focus on thier coaches but I took it as a learning experience for my son!

Thanks for letting us join your tourney!!!!

Who won the outstanding wrestler awards, and team awards?
Posted By: sekjrcometscoach Re: S.E.K. Jr. Comets Tournament - 02/24/11 04:20 AM
Team Trophies went to
6&U - Parsons
8&U - SEK Jr Comets
10&U - Southside Falcons
12&U - Parsons
14&U - SEK Jr Comets

Im not sure on the individual trophies I would have to look them up. The outstanding wrestler was decided by the referees and table workers.
