Since it is the end of the year and State is over and the talk turns to moving state. I have a question how far do you travel to go to state and if it was moved to Wichita would that increase your travel or decrease it? Not trying to start people yelling at D4 about whinning about travel want to do some research on travel times.

Distance-wise, I think Salina would be the best for everyone, however I doubt they have enough hotel rooms for everyone that would need it.

We travel three hours. It would be the same for Wichita. I do think it should be centralized.

4:45 minutes from Garden City to Topeka
3:15 from Garden City to Wichita

With Shawn Audrain leading the caravan knock 30 min off each of these trips!!

You shouldn't be making it that fast to Topeka. Some KHP is going to be really happy if he sees you coming. Should take you at least 5:15

3hr. to topeka
1hr to wichita
would be nice to sleep in our own beds too for a change.

Sorry D4...you're just WAY out west.

We are about 4 hours West. Salina would be good. I don't know if the Bicentennial Center is big enough, but I would think so. I would think they would have enough motel rooms, but not sure.

I think Wichita would be about the same for us.

Would Manhattan work? Bramlage would surely seat enough and I would think Manhattan would have plenty of motel rooms. I know KU fans might develop a rash spending too much time in Bramlage, but they can bring Benidryl.

Yes, we in D4 are way out West, and we prefer it that way!! Somehow, we still manage to produce State Placers out here in the sticks. Pretty much kids are kids no matter the location.

I think the absolute best location for state is Rossville laugh

This D4'er votes Manhattan!

Let's make it fair and hold it in Dodge City! The new casino arena has plenty of space and well it is a casino! Much fun and good times!! Coaching wouldnt be the best but it would be fun!!

Seriously, how many people does that new arena at Dodge City seat? From the outside, driving by, it looks pretty big.
Posted By: R. Scott Edwards Re: Distance - 04/06/11 01:38 AM
There is enough arena floor space to hold 10 mats. The seating is only about 4000 to 4500.

As long as we get to travel,I dont care. Staying at the hotel is part of fun. If they have it at Dodge just dont schedule a rodeo the same days using the same parking lot.

5. Hrs to Topeka
4. Hrs to Wichita

It's to bad that Hays doesn't have more places to stay or we could have it at Gross Memorial. For once make the ones back east drive a little bit and give us in the west a bit of a break.

Cokeley, no offense man, but if you were going out west, you probably would be driving the same way. Jack knocked an hour off myself making it to Topeka!!! I think some people needs to start going west and they will quickly understand.

Hays will need a larger venue to host the event based on available square feet for mat surfaces and tournament administration as well as seating capacity.

In my travels to SW Kansas, outside of the many two lane highways with infrequent, if any, passing lanes, find so long as I attempt to keep my speed within nine (9) miles over the speed limit, the local Sheriff generally looks the other way. The Highway Patrol on the other hand is generally not so generous.

As far as available hotel's and seating I do believe we may be alright, here in Hays, but i agree Richard our available square feet would be an issue, as i dont know if we could get enough mats on the floor to make it run as quick as needed. But it would be nice to be able to have a venue out west that could hold it.
