This is a tremendous opportunity for coaches, made possible by the cooperation between the KWCA and USAW.

For the past several weeks I have been getting inquiries about "hosting" Bronze clinics!

Already in the works are the following sites: STA (Lenexa), Parsons, Turner (KC), Liberal, and Ottawa!

We would like to able to provide a clinic in everyone's hometown but that is a logistical impossibility. With that in mind, we strive to move our sites around. We might only be in your area (within 3 hours) once, so try to make it!

Clubs, begin early to plan your season. If you have coaches that need certification get their background checks done and have their USAW membership cards in hand! All coaches taking the Bronze need a current card number to register! (in the past, we have accepted a few that were "pending" only to find out later that they weren't)

For those coaches in the North/Northwest, I am confident Bill Johnson will be holding his annual clinic again.

Have a great season!

"Weren't we told at the state meeting that the cost of the background check had been reduced to $15.00?"

I just went by what was listed on the USA Wrestling national web site.
I'm a little confused. I thought you had to have background check and bronze certification to get usaw coaches card.

Linn County Twisters
Mike,

Check with Randy Hinderliter on this. There use to be a 1 year grace period on the Bronze Card. I think it is mandatory now.
I think they have to have everything for the state series, subs, districts and state.

Coaches are required to complete a background check every two years. Before issuing a current coaches' card, your club will require you to provide proof that you have passed the background check. The cost of the background check is $17. Here are the instructions on what you need to do to complete your background check:

1.
Go to www.usawmembership.com.

2.
Sign in or create a new account.

3.
Click 'Profile' in the upper right corner of the screen and choose 'BG Check History' near the top of the screen. Please note that you will be required to use a different user id and password in the background check website - do not try to use your USA Wrestling user id and password.

4.
After completing the background check, do not attempt to purchase a membership online. This feature is disabled for Kansas coaches.

5.
After the background check is complete you will receive an email notice indicating whether or not you have successfully passed the background check. Provide this confirmation notice to the club director, who will then be able to purchase your coaches' membership from the state office.

Posted By: usawks1 Re: 2011-2012 Bronze Clinics!! - 02/27/12 06:53 PM
I will address some concerns!

It is highly unlikely that you will have in your hand a Bronze card if you've only taken the clinic 6 days before! After you take the clinic on Sunday, I will mail all complete tests on Monday. Colorado Springs then has to process them ... anyway, probably cavalier to expect cards!

However, your name will appear on a special list that will qualify you to coach in this years tourney's if you have everything else needed!

That brings me to another point! The exception is for a 3 week period only, even though, your name may appear on the list for the entire year!! There will likely be several names disappear from this year's list as those coaches have not followed through with all the requirements.

There will be a NEW list with a current date on it generated sometime next week!! We occassionally have coaches that saw their name for last years tourney's and are surprised to find they will not be on the current list. I've discussed the reason this happens above!

Make sure that all the t's are crossed and the i's are dotted! Do not assume that since you were an exception last year, you will be an exception in future years!!

Our Last Chance clinic is going be a good one! I am truly looking forward to it!! Make sure you contact me if you plan to attend!!
