http://www.trackwrestling.com/tw/registration/BasicPreReg1.jsp?tournamentGroupId=111845009In case you have not been out to Dodge City lately, or ever :), you need to saddle up and head out for this tournament. Scott Edwards has worked out a great deal for a fantastic venue (located next door to a casino and saloon!) and some terrific awards (the belts are outstanding!) Put a trip out west on your calendar and bring home some hardware!
Just heard from Steel City Wrestling out of Colorado. They are coming to the Gunsmoke Nationals. Steel City is ranked #2 team in the country by TrackWrestling.
Is there a picture of the championship belt?
Here it is. Pretty sweet if you ask me!
Release the matrix please. With Oklahoma regionals and all the snow we could use the info. I'm starting to change my mind about this tournament. To many dads are talking about numbers being low. What do we do? Play it safe and stay local or drive across the state and spend $400.99 ????
The matrix will be released later in the week. I will tell you that Colorado SOT has signed up, Steel City has signed up, Colorado Bad Boys has signed up, POWA has signed up as well as kids from Omaha and Kansas.
If you are attending the Gunsmoke Nationals Feb 8-9 and are in need of lodging. Please come try the newest hotel in Dodge city located on the bypass North Edge of town. DC Extended Stay

Belt looks great, atmosphere sounds fun. We are coming.
Coaches, Teams.
I know everyone would like to see the matrix but until all entries are we will not release that info. However I will tell you that 100 wrestlers from NE, and CO are already entered. If you intend to wrestle please send your entries in ASAP. We are looking forward to a great turnout and great competition.. I talked to quite a few of you that said you were coming and haven't seen your registration yet. Hope to see all of you on Fri.
Thanks

Anyone have an accurate idea of how the roads will be from Wichita?
I am not sure about between here and wichita but most of them around here are okay to drive on. If anybody has any issue making it to weigh in because of the weather please contact me. 620-338-2987
I made a trip from Great Bend to Dodge City and the roads were fine on that route.
A few areas of snow pack and slush between Hutchinson and Dodge City but overall roads were good. I feel like come travel time tomorrow road conditions should not be a huge issue, but drive safe.
We will release the matrix this evening. Due to the weather we will allow satellite weigh-ins and the weights will need to be emailed to rsedwards@gaic.com by 8 pm.
The matrix has been released though we still have clubs that are signing up. As stated above, we are doing satelite weigh-ins due to the weather. The weights will need to be emailed to rsedwards@gaic.com by 8:00pm on 2/7/2014
Is it fair to say 284 kids is far below what was expected for this one? Only 5 brackets that can fill an 8 man bracket. What was the turnoff, cost, new, location? Sounds like it could be a good tournament, good luck to all.
Hopefully the wrestlers and coaches that go to this tournament promote this by word of mouth for the future Gun Smoke Nationals. Word of mouth by other wrestlers is the best way to build numbers at a new tournament. I am sure that this will be a very well ran tournament and hopefully it continues to grow in the future. There is no reason a tournament at this location couldn't run a 1000+ kids through it in the future. Good Luck to all.

I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and hopefully someone mistakenly grabbed our sons dark blue Nike bag which had in it: a pair of grey Nike Freeks and black headgear. I am offering a reward of $100, for the shoes have sentimental value.
As a wrestling mom, I would like to add that I have been to numerous wrestling events and pride my kids sport that it is one of the best because of the integrity of the participants. That being said, I truly hope someone steps forward and returns our wrestling gear.
The staff from Gunsmoke Nationals would like to also add $100 reward for the return of or information of the whereabouts of the the items listed in the above post.
We were disappointed that the # of participants weren't higher but we realize there were a lot of factors. I can see this tournament having a lot of potential for growth in the future....loved the site. With that being said I know some of the delays were unavoidable especially due do all the bracket changes. The biggest complaint I have is that the flyer said there was no double dipping allow and yet several kids were allowed to double dip. If we had known it was an option my kid would have definitely tried to win 2 belts (like some of the kids did

)
Ill definitely be back in the future. Cant help mother nature and with all the factors stacked against the Gunsmoke National tournament the directors did a wonderful job of making the best of the situation.
I agree with csw1221. The flyer said no double dipping and yet it was allowed. Brackets were set early that morning and at 10 am Saturday our bracket had an additional wrestler. I don't believe they moved up a weight because they did not make the lower weight class. Checked out track wrestling and the wrestler was 4.5 lbs over the bracket they competed in the week before. Head gear was also required but yet that rule was not followed either and later in the round those kid who didn't have head gear all of a sudden had a pair by round 2. I'm not sure but a national tournament usually does not change rules the day of the event. And also why does a wrestler who is the only one in his bracket get to drop to a lower weight and participate? Why does he get bumped down and not up. All of the other kids make weight so if a tournament does that then why weigh in and lets have drawing and fill brackets that way. Also a Colorado coach was bragging the he was allowed to place his wrestling strategically so they could beat Steel City for team points. I was good competition and maybe go back. I just want to know what rules are there going to be so we all know. And yes word of mouth does travel and I'm not the only one who felt this way. A lot of coaches that I talked to were not very happy about how things were changed that day.
