My son wrestled this event in the first year it was created to be a qualifier to wrestle with Team(s) Kansas. He got invited onto the team as an alternate after placing 5th and went on to win a gold in his alternate bracket as well as going 1-1 on Kansas Team 4. I can honestly say that those eight matches he wrestled up in Iowa built his confidence and helped propel him into a very solid high school career.
This would be a good time for the best kids in the state to put at what weight they will be at.This way we do not have 3 or 4 of the best KS kids in one wait when some of them can move up or down.
Jake Beeson will be entering at 120. In no way am I saying he is the best, but he's not bad.
Nick Mahan - Hugoton - 145
looking very forward to this tournament and hopefully the duals...this is a super tuff group of KS Middles Schoolers...lots of talent at the top and pretty deep at most weights. I fully expect all 5 teams to be pretty dang tough...
Adam Whitson - Team Lightning/Buhler - 75
Very much looking forward to this tournament as well!
Garrett Lange 125
Troy Fisher 130
Austin Andres 135
Unless something un-expected comes up. But, I agree, if Kansas wishes to devise the best dual teams we can, then it makes sense to not have several hammers at the same weight at Middle School State.
Thanks,
Coach Fisher

Mikey Waggoner - mokwc will be going 140.

Sunday is the day we settle the Middle School TEAM KANSAS.
James, have a question why is there such a big spread at this tournament? What I mean is you go from 189 to 250. If I am weighing in at 195 or even 200 not sure I would want to give up that much weight.
What are the admission prices going to be?
Jalin Harper MOKWC will be competing for 115

$2.00 all going to help TEAM KANSAS!!
I do not get why the names are not released.Doing that would make the strongest team.
Tate Steele -Legacy Wrestling Club entered at 95
Trace Walters, Northeast Knights, will be at 125

Is Friday eve sub weigh in good?
I would guess no, since the weigh in can not be more than 24 hours before the tournament according to USAW rules.
I think we are all finding out rules really don't mean anything.
Is Friday eve sub weigh in good?
In addition to the 24 hr rule, the weights are different in both 12U & 14U in many instances.
Do they seed the kids or just throw them in a bracket? If they seed, what criteria do they use?
Any update on the # of entrants?

Good job James Cook & crew!! Well ran Tournament. This is one of the best tournaments in Kansas. Only one thing went wrong all day....the jackhammer my boy drew in the finals.
Hey James cook, where do I send the laundry bill for the unintended consequences of that atomic chili dog I ate on Sunday???!!!

which explains the unclaimed fog by mat #1
Once again, a big thanks to James Cook and the Smoky Valley team! I really appreciate them for carrying the torch for this tournament. Also a big thanks to all of those who attended, coached, and participated.
