First and foremost, thanks for running a great tournament and addressing the club(s) who ATTEMPTED to break the rules.

Perhaps a rule to consider for next year.
A Club who KNOWINGLY enters a wrestler that PARTICIPATED in a prior year tournament will be suspended the following year.
Great tournament! Not sure it can be done any better than that!
Chawkico -- We have discussed the option of banning those clubs who violate our rule. One issue with this option is that in many clubs each parent enters their own kid, so the one cheating parent could cost several honest kids not to participate.

1) we are going to check the clubs closer who have had problems
2) going to release brackets sooner on Friday to allow parent/coaches more time to "help us check" by looking through the participants in the bracket prior to tournament starting.
3) not closing door on banning but would like to try other options so 1 bad apple doesn't spoil it for all.
4) Open to other suggestions

I will tell you that the club involved today had 2 incidents and I spoke to 2 different coaches. Each coach handled it differently, I hope the one who saw the big picture and agreed 100% with us will have a bigger impact on how things are handled with their club in the future. If not a ban may be in order

Thanks for coming and thanks for your input!

Craig
Here is another option. Eliminate novice tournaments completely. Go back to the old way of every is in the same tournament. This would eliminate the trophy hunting parents from entering novice tournaments. Not saying anything about the way it was ran. Knowing Derby it was a very good tournament. But the system is being abused so lets eliminate the system.
