One of the parents in our club came to me with the following concern:
It seems their wrestler has an area on his stomach of dry skin. He was qustioned at a recent tournament as to what it was. The quststion we have is if he is taken to a doctor and the doctor signs the skin release form to the effect that this is not a communicable disease and the area is still there the following week do they need to go to the doctor again to get a new release form signed?

The rule regarding suspicious skin conditions is that you must provide current written documentation from a physician stating that the suspected disease or condition is not communicable and that the athlete’s participation would not be harmful to his opponent.

The Kids Division has specified that the documentation must be in a specific form , and should generally be no more than six days old. When I have wrestlers in my club with a non-contagious condition as you described, I recommend that they explain to their physician the need for updated skin release forms each week. Most doctors are willing to sign a new form without a complete examination when it is an obvious continuation of a previous condition.
