The 103 lb. wrestler for Garden Plain last year was Cole Zoglman!
I think callahan would have gotten 2nd if he hadnt broken his leg in the semis
Ryan Garrett of Buhler had a very good freshman year at 171 and he followed it up with a Kids State title. He and Jaydan Bird are right now the two premier heavier wrestlers from this class.
Michael Perez of Bishop Miege had a good freshman year at 130 and followed that up with a Kids State title. Look for him next year to place at State.

That whole podium looked like the walking wounded at the end of the night.
Ryan Carlson from Hiawatha should be in that group of kids. If you look at who beat him at 4A this year at Chapman regionals at 140 the four kids placed at state. Ryan won third at kids state at 150. his record as a fresman was 23 and 11 with 20 pins .
Jordan Brown 145 of Pittsburg was 34-10 in his freshman year this year. I saw him give eventual state champion Andy Hurla a very good tough match at the Bishop Miege 5A Regional in the final. Jordan went on to win another Kids State title. He should be a high placer at State next year.
what about the higher weight classes?
ryan wuthnow from abilene is a good wrestler, he qualified for state his freshman year and took ray olsen of wamego (finished 4th in state) into overtime more than one or two times,

Jaydan Bird at 189 last year and Ryan Garrett at 171 have been previously mentioned. They may be the two higher weight class freshmen who had the best varsity seasons in 2006.
It is difficult for a freshman to do well as a varsity wrestler at a heavier weight since they will primarily be wrestling upper classmen and there are less weight classes available for them to win a varsity spot on their own team. There are those that overcome these obstacles like Bird and Garrett this year but just not as many at the heavier weights.
We should see start to see more from this 2009 class in the heavier weights doing well over the next two years.

Is this just another rumor or is it a fact, the shcool year is still a ways of yet. There are alot of rumors about wrestlers transferring. Maybe everyone should just wait til the school year starts and find out for sure.
There were a few boys that where freshman from the central kansas area that you may want to watch next year at 171 and 215.
