What if a wrestler certified in December?

You can certify at any of your team's official weigh-ins up until January 13. The two pound allowance will not be available until after January 13, regardless of when you certify.

National Federation of State High Associations Wrestling Rules Book

Rule 4-5-5 (pg. 19)

When there are consecutive days of team competition, there shall be a 1-pound additional allowance granted each day for all wrestlers up to a maximum of two pounds. In order to be granted this 1-pound additional allowance, a minimum of 48 hours advance notice is required for the opponent(s).

That is an extra 2 pounds on top of the 2 pound allowance you get for growing. So at the Garden City Tournament this year the kids with get their 2 pounds for growth allowance, an extra pound on friday because Goddard and Ponderosa dual thursday, then another pound ontop of that for wrestling saturday. So a wrestler at 135 has to make 139 on friday night/saturday morning weigh in.
