If anybody that is planning on wrestling at Senior Nationals is having a fund raiser to try to go to that competition this year, please post on this thread, you never know who may come and shell out a few bucks to help the cause of a fellow rival but more importantly a fellow Kansan!
What is the KSHSAA Rule on Elgibilty about non seniors participating in the Senior Classic, The Metro Classic,
Senior Nationals, Junior Nationals in Virginia, etc. Mainly I am talking about the deal in Virginia. I do not think they can get financial assistance. But i do not know the exact rule.
I would think that Virginia is not that much different than Brute. I just am not sure.
HS Nationals are sponsored by the National High School Wrestling Coaches Association. A few schools will pay all expenses, some will pay a bit, and some will pay none of the expenses. Almost every kid will raise funds for the trip. To the best of my knowledge, KSHSAA has not ruled on Senior Nationals being against policy. Our school will pay nothing, claiming that it is not school related. I shelled out around 1500 to go last year to accompany a wrestler.
Shelstin,
I know as far as the seniors goes it is OK. What about the Juniors, Sophmores, etc., participating in this event.
I no every state is a little different. Case and point was the Janzen kid wrestling at a College level tournament over Christmas Break. Some states allow it some do not.

and younger brother to Jesse Jantzen, who i believe is on the international freestyle circuit now
Shelstin,
High School Nationals is sponored by the National High School Coaches Association. The National Wrestling Coaches Association chose not to support it when the meet first got started. That was a large mistake on their part.

You're right Gary...I just looked at my coffee cup! Regardless of who sponsors it, it is a great trip and a fantastic experience for all of those that go. You, Chuck and Cherie always do such a great job of organizing everything.
