Chief, that's a great effort on that list. It's so hard to predict what classes guys ultimately will fall into, especially with a lot of talented new faces joining the high school field this season. I applaud your effort.
James Wauer (Washington) has a great chance of placing at 112#
HE defeated both Dakin(Emporia) and Ralf Salas at kids state
last year. This summer he defeated two high school state
finalists at the sunflower state games. First off he beat Derrick
Weller(2nd place 4A 103) by the score of 4-3. Then for 3rd place
James defeated Tyler Stokes(state champion 5A 103) by the
score of 15-3
103-Caleb Seaton from Bonner-will be tough and I am guessing will be ranked by year end. A 5x kids state champ who is up over 100 pounds now. Tough to tell at 103 with so many Freshman at this weight.
24/7
112 is definitely stacked. Those are some great wins. I'll add him to the list. Was Sunflower pooled weights this year?
At the sunflower state games I believe the class division was
15-18 year old 120#
Nash Burtin a two time state champion from Eureka Ks placed 1ST
and a kid from MO Kurt Strope placed 2nd
Yes, Sunflower had pooled weights. For instance, in one bracket the wrestlers weighed between 186 & 208 or close to that range.

Elliot should be AC...I called six people trying to figure out if he had transfered.
i see wood winning 112.... but thats just my opinon.... he had a terrible state finals match.... not to take away from what stokes did
and i think blane smith may still be at 103... he was tiny last yr.....
and i notice there is NO turner kids in this ranking....
weird
watch out for Brad Terron at 285
FYI!
Aaron Hoag beat Stults and Dalke last year during Takedown club. He will be going 125 this year..
and i think blane smith may still be at 103... he was tiny last yr.....
and i notice there is NO turner kids in this ranking....
weird
Blaine will not make 103 again. Turner graduated Hanson and Bland, while Blasevic transferred to Olathe North. They had no other wrestlers over .500 last year. Jason Langford has the best chance of placing at Turner.
Dylan Penka will be 103 at Bishop Carroll.
Penka would be big 103 pounder, couldn't make 100 for the SB team last summer. He did make it for southern plains and FS/GR nationals, but was cutting hard. He had to cut to make 105. I doubt he can be hydrated at 103 to past the test. I think Dylan is a great kid, but 103?
24/7
Where is Mitch Wood of Hut. at 285
what i was saying about turner was... its funny how times change.... my freshman yr people thought they were one of the best teams ever assembled... i agree... they were pretty good....
That's the difference between "Good Teams" and "Good Programs" Programs endure the highs and lows of talent fluctuation.
yaaa.... but i remeber a post around state this yr..... HOXIE, with no state qualifiers....its just kind of funny how times change
The problem with Hoxie is that nobody made any babies during the early to mid 90’s or if they did they left town.
It’s really boils down to the ebbs and flow of the sport, you will see a decline in high school wrestling “room” numbers over the next few years. It’s coming! Ask any kids program and they will tell you that their participation numbers are way down to what they were 5 to 10 years ago. Too many year round sports for kids!
watch out for Brad Terron at 285
285 should be very competitive and difficult to place in. Returning to 5A 285 are the second thru fifth placers from last year and add Disney and Bach(assuming Bach does go up to 285)to the mix and it will be a pretty competitive division. Valley Center and Great Bend also have a pretty good 285 wrestlers returning. I absolutely agree with Chief putting Atticus Disney and Joe Bach at 1-2. They are two great wrestlers and that would be a good matchup.
Great Bend has 6 returning state qualifiers on varsity. Also their 215 should be at full strenghth going into the season, who was 16-2 before breaking his leg last Jan. they also have some pretty good younger classman filling some of the vacant weights.
Hey Eric Johnson this is Blaine Smith and i am going to go 103 this year i weighed 97 pounds last year and i am weighing like 112 right now eating what ever I want Im pretty Sure i Will Make 103 and I think I am Going to Go to the Fall Brawl At 103 But i just thought i would say somthing since u said there was no way i would make 103.
And Jason Sibel From SHS was awarded 6th last year at 112 and i have talked to him and he said he will be able to make 119

Chief,
Don't forget that Pittsburg has moved back to 5A, they might have a few kids that deserve a spot in your rankings.
A slim chance for a few... :>
Elliott may be wrestling 171. I think he wrestled that weight in the Super 32 tournament recently.
What about Jason seibel from south i think he'll put up a good fight at state at 119?
Chief Renegade, i would just like to let you know that i shouldnt be 6th at 112 becuase i am going 119.
Thanks Jason. I moved you up.
who is brown and where is he from at 160?
Jordan Brown-Pittsburg High Fargo "AA" and a badass!

I am not officially in the loop anymore but I would bet that the Kellers (BC) are going to be at 119 and 125 and Jake Cole (BC) will be at 215.
Nick Schwager from gbhs could be a contender at 12 or 3 what ever he decides to wrestle

Bach vs. Disney will be an awesome match to watch.
I'm sure it will be in the semis!
Slade Geisen will be good at whatever weight he decides to go.
112 will be a very hard weight this year with Stokes, Wood, Salas i wrestled both Salas and Stokes last year Salas beat me all 3 times i saw him and Stokes beat me sensles first round of state.
How is stokes ranked behind wood and keller, he beat wood, and wood beat keller, so he should be ranked above both of them?
because he wrestled the other keller

Stokes is an interesting call. On any given day, he can beat anybody. Then you see him at the Sunflower Games or Fall Brawl and his range of performances swing far both ways. In the end, he had a great State tournament and earned every bit of it. That being said, I would still put Wood and Keller above him. He'll have plenty of chances to move up this year.
Stokes earned the state title.
He deserves to be ranked no. 1.

Wood also beat Stokes last year. Not in the finals, but he beat him.

The Keller's are at 119 and 125 this year. I just moved Stokes up ahead of Wood. Both are up from 103, but the State tournament has to carry the most weight.
Sharp and Cox at 215 are from the same school - who's going 215. Also Arnold from BC he was listed as 170lbs on the football roster. He's pretty solid, if this is so I don't see him cutting 25lbs. But again these are preseason thoughts and we will all know more once everything gets to rockin in a couple of weeks. Most the time all these pre-season placements are nothing more than motivation for the ones that get overlooked, or shown no respect. One kid comes to mind from last year, from Liberal wasn't even in the preseason hopefulls, didn't get ranked until half way through the season, and going into State no higher than 4th I believe. So all you kids out there don't get down over the list go out and prove whom ever wrong. Because it isn't over until -- you know what kind of Lady Sings!
I could sure see Detmer at 160 and Arnold at 152. That would knock Brown back to #2 at 160.

What happened to Whitehill from Mcpherson, I don't see him mentioned anywhere. Has he moved or not wrestling?
wow - time got away from me. I thought he was a year younger than my son. Thanks
Anybody know if Chad Harding from Winfield is wrestling at 145?
