By the way, Blue Chip Athletics donated shirts for the workers and also helped provide shirts to sell to promote cancer research.
Also, Garmin made a contribution for the cause as well.

At 145, Weller-Piper and Middleton-ONW are in the same pool.
Posted By: hornetwrestling Re: 1st Olathe North Invitational - 01/29/10 07:24 PM
Is this a dual tournament? If so, what are the pools?
Posted By: Matt Jones Re: 1st Olathe North Invitational - 01/30/10 01:00 AM
Pool A
SME
ONW
Harrisonville, MO
Piper
Wamego

Pool B
ON
Basehor-Linwood
Grain Valley, MO
Washburn Rural
Lawrence

The tournament will be run in dual format for the first 5 rounds with each team dualing the others in their pool. The final round will match up individuals from opposite pools.

For example:

Pool A individual (best record/team points in duals) vs Pool B finisher for 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th

Team score from duals will add up throughout the meet with individual bonus points added after the finals. Should be a fun day with a different format than most area tournaments.

Is Olathe South not competing at the tournament? I know many of their wrestlers are going there tomorrow to wrestle so I'm a little confused.

I really liked the tournament especially having the JV teams there in the other gym. The pink singlets that got provided was a great tool as well. Next year though, we don't need to take such long breaks though. Why were they so long?
Posted By: Coach Ulmer Re: 1st Olathe North Invitational - 02/01/10 12:53 PM
We found out that we needed two people running the computers and so next year that will be fixed. Our tournament director did an excellent, however.

By the way, we still have two or three spots for next year's tournament.
Posted By: Chief Renegade Re: 1st Olathe North Invitational - 02/01/10 01:05 PM
You have to love getting 4 to 5 matches in one day. The team scoring could be tweaked a bit but an overall great effort by Olathe North!
Posted By: SpratDad Re: 1st Olathe North Invitational - 02/01/10 01:14 PM
Sorry if I appear clueless with this question but will this annual tournament continue to support breast cancer awareness? I hope it does. I believe this tournament can get bigger and better each year as this focus becomes more known by the wrestling community.

The boys in the pink singlets during the finals was classic and very meaningful. There was sense of pride because they understood the message. I believe that this irony, tough kids in pink showing support for breast cancer awareness, can only gain in momentum and make others want to be a part.

One recommendation: get a group picture of all the kids in pink and present it to the breast cancer awareness folks. smile

As an inaugural tournament, it was very well run. Yes the breaks were a bit long but I am sure these kinks will be worked out for next year. Just a great event. Thank you!

Lost to kid from Harrisonville Mo 11-5 and lost to Piper kid 3-1 finished the day 2-2.
Posted By: master blaster Re: 1st Olathe North Invitational - 02/01/10 05:07 PM
Wow! Pink singlets? What a cool thing. Please tell me this is original to kansas wrestling. They should come up with some t-shirts on line. Lot's of people have been touched by this and other cancer's, the t-shirts would sell out quickly.
