Kansas Wrestling
Post them here.....

The kids and I will be headed back to the Cozy Inn which we tried for the first time last year in Salina. I'm not that much of a fan of sliders but the kids loved them which is completely out of the norm for them.
Speak Easy in Salina. Ohio street just South of the Bi Center. Kid friendly sports bar w/ lots of TV's and great food!!
Martinelli's Little Italy - Salina
In Hays--->

Fast food--Wendy's or Taco Shop
Mexian--Jalisco's
BBQ--Whisky Creek
Steak--Professor's
Burger--The Q(also good for a barley pop)/Vernie's
Pizza--Gutch's
I know I'll get reamed for this but I didn't care for the Taco Shop that much. Maybe I didn't try the right things.
Hooters (any city U.S.A) I think they have food.

i ordered food there once, not impressed. but who knows my mind could have been wandering.
If you go to cozys in salina please stay on the north side of the gym after returning. I would be lucky not to smell you sitting at the top of the South side.
As soon as you step into that place you smell like onions for a week.
Not far from the arena in wichita (douglas and washington) Playa azul.

I agree their food is pretty average for the most part, just a popular spot to go to and very close to GMC. I have never understood everyone's infatuation with that place.
pudgey905: Don't tell doug747: that. He eats there every other day. Of course, he eats his own cooking so that should tell you something. haha
martinelli's would be my personal favorite in salina. but the hotel kitchen in the ramada with the bar usually actracts the wrestling kansas alumni. you can usually find 10-12 familiar kansas wrestlers drinking and having a good time in there at 4a salina
Hickory Hut in Salina across from the old Holiday Inn dome. La Mottas pizza in Hays.
granny max's salina (4# burger) leave the cutters behind
Ok I am sorry but there is only one place to eat at Hays and that is the Taco Shop, especially if you went to school at Hays or wrestled for the Tigers. I make every single kid go eat there and some love it and some hate it but it is a tradition. What other Hays establishment has a song that sticks in your head as well..."Come on down to the Taco Shop, you never had it you never had it, you never had it so Good!"

My vote is for Taco Shop, I even have to take another cooler to bring back fresca, chips, and cheese for my pregnant wife who told me not to come home if I forget. This is the first year she is not coming out to Hays and I better pay attention this one time during wrestling season.

Brown
I am sorry, but the Taco Shop in Hays is not in the same league as the Taco Shops in WIchita. Money wise and taste wise, the Wichita 'shops win hands down.

If you guys didn't know, Dan Gentzler took over the job of cleaning up the Taco Tico restaurants. Believe it or not, I think he must be doing some good. The place was clean the other day AND they thanked me for coming in!! I will start going back now!! You guys should to, Dan would appreciate it!
I thought Gentzler was a pizza guy!
Strouds in Wichita I think its on N. Hydralic. Best food I ever had in Wichita.
Just a short drive south of Salina is a great BBQ buffet in Smolan. Ask for directions, you won't be disappointed.

What about Martini's Steak and Chop House? Is that still there? I wouldn't wrestle the owners for a meal though!
Any fish specials in Hays on Friday???
Al's chickenette, in Hays, i am sure my name in chicken grease is written there from 1983,,,good stuff.

Western Sizzlin in Salina, a total fat guy amusement park, I watched my topeka terminator boyz about give the shake and cotton candy lady a stroke once..

Strouds in wichita, pan fried chicken family style, cinnamon buns--large group friendly...
Almost forgot,,,,
Cozy Inn in Salina,,,former Concorida wrestlers involved there i believe? belly bombers by the sack.. I sent the crew from Ghost Adventures there and got em hooked.
Here is one that you may not know about in Salina....Daimaru Steakhouse on Crawford. They cook in front of you, light stuff on fire, and throw shrimp in your mouth. Its about a block away from Hickory Hut which is great, too.
He used to be!!

Vernie's and JD's Chicken are both good nonmeat options for Fridays
Professor's is kind of off the beaten path in Hays but well worth it. On 11th street just off Vine. Tbones has become a Thursday night staple, too

That style is called Tepanyaki made famous by the great Benihana restaurants. Some of my favorite places.
I will pay some one to bring me back some Taco Grande from Hays. Im not even joking send me a Pm and you can make 10 bucks
I would have to go with the Golden Coral in Hays
I would have to agree with holiday on this professor's is very good as is Guch's and taco grande has improved a lot recently what made taco shop famous was the 6 pk of tacos. Grande's 49 cent tacos are well worth it.
Wichita-
Pacific Coast Pizza
37th and Rock Road

Buffalo Chicken Pizza is the greatest ever smile

We hit this joint when we were in Salina for the TOC. The amusement park reference was rounds on target. My son called this place his "newest favorite restaurant". The owners better hope that no one from the Office of the Surgeon General ever drops in for a bite or they may find a bunch of little warning labels on their front doors.
I know I will be making a stop at Taco Grande.
Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza in Wichita. One location is at 21st and Rock Rd. The other is at Douglas and Oliver. http://ilvicino.com/social/?page_id=2
don't they have any mcdonald's in these towns, nobody has mentioned mcdonald's. what the...over 100 billion served, and no one is mentioning them. maybe everyone assumes, that everyone else already knows. location: every street corner, usually across from a wahlgreen's and in close proximity to a gas station or two. just look for the golden arches, mmmmmmmm. my favorite comes from their appetizer menu, they call it a happy meal, eat one of those then dig into your main course, a big mac or double quarter pounder w/ cheese (tha't a half pund of beef you know). kids love it too, they have these tasty little chicken part things call nuggets. i've never figured out what part of a chicken a nugget comes from, but wow. service is always great too!
McDonald's is awful.
yeah...if you are in wichita and want fast food go to Spangles...its better and faster than McDonalds
"Spangles can kiss our A&&"..... from the sign outside Bomber Burger, the best burgers in Wichita. Do NOT order the double burger!
so i take it you agree with BB's statement, and don't care for spangles.

is the double burger some kind of challenge? i haven't taken the gorilla pizza challenge at wheat state yet, but i've battled and beat quite a few skillet challenges here and there. set the unofficial taco record at the taco station, and they even put the arsehole sauce on 'em 'cause they said that i was intoxified.
I'm going to recommend one of my sponsors: Taco Bell. They've got a new deal call the Taco Bell Box and its at a pretty reasonable price.
For Wichita

Fish- Wichita Fish Co. just west of Douglass and Seneca
Burgers- Five Guys just opened last week 29th and Maize Rd. best burger and fries you could ask for.
Here's my recommendations:

Scotch and Sirloin in Wichita (expensive but worth it)

Stroud's in Wichita ("We choke our own chickens")

NuWay in Wichita ("You'll love a NuWay, you're gonna love a NuWay Cafe, NuWay" and "Crumbly is good")

China Star in Wichita (funny commercial and good food)

Texas Roadhouse Cafe in Wichita (makes me want to watch "Roadhouse" starring the late Patrick Swayze)

The two McDonald's in Hays (they are like and 1/8 mile apart on the main strip , so if one is busy just hop in the car and go to the other)

Roof Top in Hays (expensive but worth it)

Applebee's in hays ("Eatin' good in the neighborhood")

Chili's in Salina (I've always liked this Chili's the best of any)

Red Lobster in Salina (it's pretty close to Chili's if its full and you can pick your own lobster out of the tank)

Subway in Salina ("Five Dollar Footlong")
I'm from Bennington KS just outside Salina and I have some ideas to chack out don't let my wrestler eat this during any tournaments but after is great. And if you want to cheat while they suffer

THE COZY INN AWSOME BURGERS!!!!!
108 North 7th Street, Salina KS 67401

Scheme Restaurant PIZZA is GREAT and HUGE I suggest the Buffalo
123 N 7th St, Salina, KS
Well Ricky, not everyone has the sponsership deals that you have so skip the Scotch and Sirloin and go to the place that supplies the seafood to them. Wichita Fish Co. a good ole' fashion dive.
You must go to the Golden Corral, or as we like to call it

The "Trough"

All you can eat buffet - hands down winner for wrestlers

Smashburger in Wichita at Woodlawn & 96 hwy...the haystack onions are GREAT!

Granite City is also good...gotta love the Idaho Nachos

And for all of you Taco Grande fans...there are two locations that I know of in Wichita..one on 21st street and one on Seneca

We should be taking restaurant suggestions from "Roach"?
Many great places to eat in Wichita near Intrust. If you have time Old Mill Tasty Shop is great, but usually packed. Wichita Fish is good also. Many places to eat in Old Town.

I have to pump up Pacific Coast Pizza the buffalo chicken pizza is awesome, and I have never had a bad meal there. Also they are big supporters of athletics. Have even donated money for certain things smile. So they are at 37th and Rock. Tell them you are in town for the wrestling tourney.

im suprised nobody has mentioned Ryans buffet in wichita!
great place to eat after a tough friday of wrestling. i see a ton of teams there that friday night.

thats my opinion for the 5A-6A wrestlers.
The move from the Coliseum to Intrust should bring a whole new group of restaurants into play.

We always ate there when 4A was in Wichita. The coach ate free which made it all the better.
