All of these wrestlers have signed up to wrestle two national events in one weekend! We are departing from Lawrence at 4pm tomorrow for Cedar Falls, IA. The boys will be wrestling in the USA Folkstyle Nationals on Thursday and Friday. We will then drive to KC and weigh in for the Brute Adidas Nationals so they can continue competing on Saturday and Sunday. Extreme dedication, extreme desire to compete! High fives to all of these competitors.
(I will take additional wrestlers up to 4pm today. I have to finalize my ride and room arrangements tonight.)
Oh no!!!! Here we go again!!!!! That old blow hard Will coming up with out of the box ideas, pushing the boundaries, spouting off about everything......
I can't believe guys like that and they never give back to the sport! (Sarcasm folks!)
Will, you've done it once again. Thought outside the box, put your money where your mouth is and of course, provided another great experience for the wrestlers in our state.
Thanks for doing this for the kids. What a great week of wrestling.
Good luck to all of them!

Wow, very cool. Legit. "Impressive Bordering on Spectacular" (Dan Akroyd).
I commend all sponsors, coaches and athletes alike.
Well, next year I'm gonna take a group of wrestlers to VA Beach and FloNationals on the same weekend. We will have private jets flying kids back and forth as not to miss a match. Beat that Will! No man, this sounds like some good wrestling and a lot of fun (although it will be taxing).
Remember to take your books with you guys.
Arrived at 10:30 pm. We just checked in everyone to the Candlewood Suites in Waterloo.

Looks like Cokeleys got a tough one in the semis.
Yes he does. Fargo National Champion and Wisconsin state champion, Dolezal.
Kansas Semi-finalists:
Cadet:
98 - Cullen Hood
98 - Javier Vieyra
112 - Austin Hood
Junior:
152 - Dylan Penka
152 - Ryne Cokeley
Mason gets a rematch with Ruano on the backside.
Javier pins Cullen Hood.
Austin Hood makes the final!!!! Wins 5-3.
Penka/Keilbasa up next, then Cokeley/Dolezal.
Cokeley loses a close one to Fargo champion, 4-2.
In the backside semis:
Penka loses 5-3 and will wrestle for 5th.
Cokeley beats Connor Middleton 6-4 in OT! Ryne wrestles for 3rd (Possibly a true 2nd match) and Middleton will have a rematch with Penka.
What happened to part II of the extreme wrestling weekend? (BRUTE)
how did these boys do?
I know Spencer Wilson wrestled in the Brute finals taking second to a IA usa placer. Spencer was smoked and wrestled around 12 or 13 matches in two days. Good mat time that will pay off later. Hats off to all these young men for taking on the challenge of an "extreme wrestling weekend." A big thanks to Will for making it happen. I think a lot of tough kids owe Will in one way or the other for being "tough!". Good prep for Fargo!
It was too extreme for Ryne. We sat around for dang near 12 hours in the auditorium on Saturday for 3 matches. He ran out of gas in the third match and lost in OT. He was so beat up an sore that he injury defaulted out.
Hat's off to all those young men!
Thanks to Will for letting us go go Iowa with them, we had a great time. Thanks to Mark Stanley for coaching spencer in Iowa. Thanks to Bronson and Jesse for stickin around at Brute to coach Spencer. Bronson I will try to do a better job of staying out of the way next time. Congradulations to all the wrestlers that went to both and worked their butts off for the love of the sport!

Over-training? Rest is also a valuable and needed part of training. As I'm sure you know. Others on the forum might not.
Yes thanks to Will for taking the boys.
Drake came back to Brute..lost the first match out of the gate...had to wrestle out the backside...won 5 matches to get into placing lost his last match to go for 3rd (to the same kid!)
Won on Sunday and placed 7th...had good matches against alot of kids from out of state...a great experience. As I always say your not going to get better by winning all the time....might have alot more fun though!
Kim Lovvorn
Thanks to Will for giving my son the opportunity for a great week of wrestling. Dillon had some good mat time in Iowa and came back to Brute and wrestled really well. Lost in the finals to a really good kid, Dillon was a little disappointed but I am very proud of him for making both trips. Thanks again Will, priceless experience.
Danny Scanlon
Thanks to Will and all the Kansas guys that helped coach Dylan at Iowa and Brute. With all of the mat burns on his face, Dylan looks like he was on the wrong end of a fight. Fortunately, he has a couple of weeks to heal up before prom. Congratulations on everyone who participated from Kansas in both tournaments, looks like Team Kansas had some good success against the national competition! Looking forward to another Extreme Weekend next year.
