Thanks for the work putting together the 4a ranking! Good luck to all!
Dustin Reed (112) is a Soph.
Troy Clark will probably be at 135 not 130
140 Dalton Snyder wrestles for hoxie now so he is 321A
Glad to see 4A rankings. 119's going to be fun to watch. I am sure others but don't know all the kids.
Where's 6A????????/5A?????????
Iam just excited to see those pre-season rankings!!!!
Just checked KWCA site.....6A is out. No 5 or 321 yet.
6A is on the KWCA website.
How can Gulley not be ranked?
Something is wrong here.
He should be 5th at either 119 or 125.
I think #171 (12)Brendan Delancy-Augusta was overlooked. He went 32-8 last year, and almost half of his losses came from Armstrong-Andale. He had a couple of wins over (then) ranked opponents ( Hoover-Winfield, Diffenbaugh-Mulvane). Also, he will be completely healthy this year and will be a big 171 instead of a small one. Just curious.?
215 Boomer Mayes -Eudora- pinned spencer trumbly at regionals last year

A beast on the FB field who in kids wrestling, walked away from wrestling as a kids state champ, but came back to wrestling in HS. He's wrestled injured for the last few years and hopefully will be healthy this year, his senior year! He's going to be one I watch all year long. Go Boomer!
How can Gulley not be ranked?
Something is wrong here.
He should be 5th at either 119 or 125.
Once again, is there no info on Gulley? My son has wrestled most of those kids in those two weights and we have seen all of them wrestle many times. With all due respect to all the kids in those weights, Gulley should be ranked. Unless there is something that I do not know, like he is hurt or he is going 130 or something. Even at 130 he should/could be ranked based on what I have seen. This is my opinion based on a lot of facts.
Best wishes to all though.
Have a great day!
The next rankings will be out November 22nd. All information is much appreciated.

10-4 and thanks for the response BJobe.
Dalton snyder transferred to Hoxie. He'll be in 321A this year
I was curious as to why costa is ranked so highly, Dustin vielhauer of SJA has beaten him a few times. He also beat Cody from baldwin last year at regionals.
Just wanted to comment on Jake Hattabaugh from Andale. I can't comment on his wrestling skills..but as a football player he is outstanding! The Holton HS team played Andale this past Saturday night and Jake played one heck of a game. He quarterbacked, was running back, played defense...was the kicker on the kick off and then tackled the guy running the ball! I told my son Drake that he better be ready for a battle to the end on the wrestling mat! What a player! Can't wait for Clay Center tournament!
I would like to say con.
Has 4 guys ranked. 3 sophomores great job coach brown Good. Luck
Taylor Baird of Pratt is going 71 again this year.

does anybody know what happened to mumaw and mccomb at #171? i hope that everyone is ok.
Mumaw is recovering from an injury and should be ready after the break. It has been reported that Jared McComb has decided not to wrestle.
Kenny Gulley (Jr.) of Atchison H.S., currently ranked #5 @ 125 will actually be competing at 119 lbs again this year (10-11 season) and Cody Calhoon (Soph.) will be the 125 # for Atchison High. -- these two are doing battle in the practice room.
Alex Wolf of Smoky Valley is wrestling 119.
Tyler Ewy is not wrestling this year. He made a deal with one of the basketball players this year, if the round baller went out for football he would play basketball. It was a smart move on tyler's part as the round baller help out on Louisburg winning the state title. His dad wanted him to wrestle but of well they got thier state championship.:-)

4a HWT went from tons of potential top tier guys to almost being a Bridesmaid of a weightclass. I believe 5 guys that were to return are not back in one form or another?! May wind up being a who has the best athlete you can find in the hallway battle!
At 171 Camron Leupold is not wrestling this year. He decided to run indoor track with a club team this winter.
John
Best wishes to Camron on the track and congrats on the football honors!

Should Michael Torrez really be ranked 6th at 112? He may not have had previous match ups with any of those ranked above him, but I think he should be given more credit.
I have no actual criteria so don't go crazy on me just my thoughts on it.

Well its hard to rank a kid better with out any previous match ups and how has he done at state before..
but someone i think people might need to look out for is Himple from tog i think he might make some up sets
Himpel had a great weekend at Eudora going 5-1, beating Sharp, Fort Scott, Clark, Baldwin, Wagner, Effingham, and wrestling Keller of Lansing a good championship match before losing 0-4.
Last week at KV duals, he beat PJ Chaney-Turner, Justis Seaton-Bonner, and went OT with Torrez-Basehor losing 0-2. Not bad for an unranked freshman.
Agreed, Himple is definitely a tough kid and should not be overlooked at all in state rankings.
Also, criteria for Torrez is his match over Himple to overtime and Himple beaing Clark of Baldwin ranked 4th currently.
Maybe something more like
4th-Torrez
5th-Himple
6th-Clark
Why would you take garrett matthews (royal valley) off of the rankings? He had a slightly better state performance than Michael Torrez which I believe gives him a slight edge. Instead put
4-Matthews
5-Torrez
6-Himple
Rank garrett were you think he fits,we will see were he belongs after the 18th.Hell dont rank him at all.Let torrez have some fame.
Looking at the state brackets from last year Torrez and Matthews both lost to Brak Hake, yes Matthews got farther so i would have to agree with you Bender.
And Dave, your right we will see after the 18th as well as state too.
I wish they could met now,and just for your info brad and garrett has been wrestling each other since 6th grade in concordia,so pratice, and meets .Garrett beat him his freshman year and brad beat him last year, and at state if you watched the match went to overtime. It could of went both ways.Garrett has jr this weekend so we will see.Good luck this year hope to see you guys at state.
Ah i see, that makes it much more arguable for Garret then.
Best of luck to you too.
I believe Matthews has already beaten 2nd ranked 3A Hunter Speer by a 7 to 2 score THIS season and from what i have saw of him, I very honestly would not be a bit surprised to see him as a finalist this year. He is looking that tough and seems to have a ton of determination.
Why is Adam Luthi of Holton not ranked at heavy weight? He is a returning state qualifier who had wins over three of the currently ranked wrestlers last year. He T-falled #6 Austin, beat out #5 Holt at regionals, split with #2 Lynn, and took #1 Denner into over time.

At #6 heavyweight - name is "Litherland." Not bad for a kid that came to wrestling his sophmore year!
I just would like to say it's time to look at the ranking again because someone is worried about costa when there is a kid ranked from hiawatha that has not wrestled since last year and has quit the team. the bottom line is to get to the state all you have to do is WIN
Sharpe from Mulvane is at 135 now.
I think #171 needs revisited (in my humble opinion) and im not sure where Mumaw was during the st. Mary's tournament. is he stil injured?
I know that I'll be spending a lot of time figuring out 171 All-Class. To complicate things Tyler Henness beat Tyler Baughman at the Bobcat then got majored by Blaine Hill of SME in the finals.
I believe Mumaw reinjured his knee at Herington. He was fine throughout the first two matches but in the last minute of the finals match with Ward he twisted it again. They were both working for takedowns and Mumaw went to throw a slide by and Jordon backed out of it and was dropping to a single and Mumaw tried getting away and ended up going down holding his knee
I don't know alot about that 171 class, but Blaine Hill was pretty impressive.
Just a heads up Reed is not a junior he is a sophomore
When are new 4a rankings coming out?
That is a great question. It sure has been a while.
I guess a while equals five days now.
Jacob Durosette of Fort Scott beat Andrew Morgan at the Bobcat Classic. Andrew is ranked 6th 125. He also placed higher than Taylor Miller, I don't know if they ever seen each other. but Jacob Durosette pinned Andrew Milsap. Not bad placing 3rd at a tough tournament for the freshman
Has anyone been updated of when the new 4a rankings are coming out?
Wheres Bryce Morgan at 103?? he beat Dakota Leach and Gage Wells at the Derby tournament. He wasn't varsity last year but he only weighed around 90 pounds and would wrestle 112 at varsity tournaments. He was one match away from state last year at 112 and he was 90 pounds.

Fennewald at 140 from mulvane beat Tyler Simpson from BL last year at state tourny, need to look at 140!
Has Jerin Brown wrestled a match yet this year? Good kid. Just don't think I have seen any results on him yet.
He had his gall bladder removed and said he will start practicing this week. How much does a gall bladder weigh? He will have that much less weight to cut to make 285. If he has to cut very much weight, maybe his stomach will shrink, and I'll be able to beat him at the Taco Bueno taco eating contest this year.......Or maybe Gentzler will man up and donate the tacos to the contest.........
Big Mac! I don't think there is any way you are going to beat him in an eating contest Doug! I feel for him - I had my gall bladder out earlier this year. Not fun.
How about some roasted candied almonds?
Shouldn't Billy Teters of PV be considered in the 4A Rankings? He's been pretty impressive in the last two tournaments at Baldwin & Silver Lake, only losing to the #1 and #2 ranked wrestlers in the 189 weight class

He was definitely considered. McComb's entry into this weight bumped him out for now. I have my eye on him! Tough kid.
what happen to jordan osladil from ottawa did he get hurt haven't seen his name in a while?
uhhhhhhh
wrong answer on Billy Teters. He has been beat by everybody on the 4A list that is ranked. He will have to prove it at regionals and state.
what happen to jordan osladil from ottawa did he get hurt haven't seen his name in a while?
Not only him but how about the Heavy from Holton, Luthi? What happened to him?
Both Murdock boys from Parsons at 125 and 130 are both still undefeated in 4A. The 130 beat ghering from Buhler last weekend.
Both Murdock boys from Parsons at 125 and 130 are both still undefeated in 4A. The 130 beat ghering from Buhler last weekend.
Are there any quality wins for them? With all due respect it looks like Bill Snyder put together the schedule for Parsons.

In the Columbus or Chanute duals, your 125 and 130 didn't wrestle ranked wrestlers?
We have not wrestled either of those teams yet in duals. It will be tomorrow. 125 beat Haake from Pittsburg, Hudson from Caney, Ogden from Royal Valley. 130 has beat Ghering from Buhler. I guess we will figure it all out after this weekend. Have a great day. How dare you put us and Bill Snyder in the same category. HEHE!!!!!!!!!
125 Murdock lost to Hoehn at the Piper tournament.
We will get it all figured out after Regionals. Good Luck to everyone towards the rest if the season. Hope everyone has a successful next two weeks!!!
125 Murdock lost to Hoehn at the Piper tournament.
That was a pretty good match
what happen to jordan osladil from ottawa did he get hurt haven't seen his name in a while?
Not only him but how about the Heavy from Holton, Luthi? What happened to him?
Adam Luthi the HWT from Holton is out due to an injury at the Burlington Tourney...dislocated his right elbow. Will probably be out for the rest of the season.
Chief, Cass Steele pinned Rieschick of Holton today first round, should be a change at 145#'s. Thanks
The Murdock boys are looking good. Dalton Murdock did beat Austin Haake 4-3 at the Pittsburg and Parsons dual. But, Dalton Murdock lost to #1 Tim Wrestler today at the duals and Thatcher Murdock lost to #6 Jared Fiscus of Chanute in a overtime. Both matches were good. The Murdocks will be really good in time. Good luck to everyone at Regionals.
Litherland from Eudora (currently 6th in rankings) beat Retzer, Pomato and Chandler at League this weekend. Lost to Baldwin.
Which Heavy weight beat Jesse Austin?
Hayden Chandler from DeSoto
Jeez talk about confusion! Who did Retzer beat?
Frontier league has nice group of 285 pounders.....Any of these big boys could bring home the title. 4 ranked and one who will be soon. At least they are not all going to the same regional.
Kit - can you help out here?

Retzer wrestled on day 1, did not wrestle on day 2, sickness
Hope this helps. Was tough weight class, lot of good matches. All are good wrestlers.
Agreed - thank you for taking a break during the game to post!
Wasn't Retzer #1 in 4a? How does sickness eliminate him from being ranked this week?
He lost to everyone in that bracket last week.
We were told that Retzer not wrestling on Saturday would not affect his rankings. Guess that wasn't the case. Hopefully it is a mute point going into Regionals. But it will be interesting!
Did he forfeit all those matches?
Robert Retzer did not wrestle on Saturday of the Frontier League tournament in Baldwin, he was ill.
Just post his results from Friday then. The rankers could use that information.
He wrestled two matches on Friday, defeated Louisburg by fall, lost to Litherland of Eudora 3-2 in OT. Then he withdrew on Saturday due to sickness.
No prob. Thanks for doing all the rankings work!
with a win over Baird at regionals, is Delancy going to be moved to #1. I believe he has the best record now with only three losses and only losing to two opponents all year. ( Baird and Penka)
I plan to have the final pre-state 4A, 5A and 6A rankings done by tomorrow.
Remember that the rankings are not predictions for state! A prime example is at 4A/152. Ryne Cokeley and Sam Son are on the same side of the state bracket. They will still likely be ranked 1 and 2 in the 4A rankings, but cannot finish that way at state due to their placement in the brackets.
