I saw plenty of two of these wrestlers way back when they were wrestling U8 in Kids Federation. I couldn't believe the caliber of wrestlers they were at that age. I am glad that they are still competing today.
berends of GE will be at 135
Bo Pursel
Hunter Haralson
Bryce Shoemaker
Those three practiced in the same room together for years.
Does anyone have a rough look at the top wrestlers at each weight for the eudora tournament last year i recall someone posting 3 or 4 wrestlers each weight
I am excited to go watch this one. I heard through the grapevine that Eudora school admin doesn't plan to have this tournament past this year. Said they are losing money. Hopefully those that want to keep this tourney and what it has become, will find a way to keep it. Good luck guys!
Said they are losing money.
That would probably apply to about every tournament in the state. If we as fans and club members want to keep these tournaments going we need to do so by volunteering time.

Teams:
ACCHS, Baldwin, Blue Valley, Chanute, Desoto, Eudora, Fort Scott, Gardner Edgerton, Lansing, Lawrence, Louisburg, Maize South, Mill Valley, Paola, Perry Lecompton, Prairie View, Rossville, STA, Shawnee Mission South, Spring Hill, Sumner Academy, Tonganoxie, Wellsville
Team predictions:
1. Lansing
2. Mill Valley
3. Lawrence
4. Gardner
Lansing will probably run away with it if their team performs to the best of their ability. After that it will be a close race.
I think 215 and 119 will be the best matches to watch
Yes those will be the best brackets to watch, but I think your heavier guys are going to have some of the best battles.

Tyler Baughman vs. Reece Wright-Conklin
135
Symon Seaton – 12 - BL
Tommy Williams – 11 – STA

This freshman should not be over looked!
How about Parr or Cannon from Desoto?
215

Leo Beck – 12 - MV
Eric Mason – 11 - STA
Kyle Pacheco – 12 - GE
A classic match up!
This tournament is always full of upsets! I'll bet Chief will have his work cut out for him after this weekend!
189 - Darien Willis, Sumner Academy. Very quick!
I wanna say that stokes GE beat Wright Eud, Justin Long will be one to surprise this year at 52 again lucas powell isnt wrestling
It was Hoehn over Stokes in the final last year. Possibly another rematch in the making.
Hoehn is going 125 I think and Stokes 130.
any more updates on this tournament?
119 will be brutal with Hood, Haralson and Shoemaker. That's 2 state champs and a runner up. FR-Dickman will add to that mix as well.
125...7 ranked wrestlers and 6 ranked in the top 3 of their class. Pursel, Newport, and Hodges all wrestled at 125 this past weekend.
Wrestler #2 4a-125
Litvak #2 5a-125
Pursel #1 5a-119
Hodges #6 5a-119
Newport #2 4a-119
Humphrey #3 6a-125
Hoehn #1 3a-125
152 Son v. Scanlon
don't know as many kids in the other weights
How about Parr or Cannon from Desoto?
Parr will be at 189. Cannon will be going 215.
It looks like Sam Son has been wrestling 160. IS he droping for this tournament?
I think all of Chanutes team is dropping to their state tourney weights...(down one).
Who will be at 112 for this one?
112
Jace Roy – 11 - PV
Kevin Keller – 12 - LS
Keifer Price from GE
Keller-Lansing, Clark-Baldwin, Konizer-Prairie View, Himple-Tongie. I am sure there are others.
Jace Roy - Prarie View
Konizer - Prairie View
Both at same weight?
When will the actual bracket link work for the upcoming Eudora tournament?
probably afternoon on Friday.
This should be a great tournament - will try to get there Saturday. Heard Eudora is considering dropping this tournament after this year. Let them know you'd like to come back next year!
125 Seeds:
1. Zach Hoehn
2. Bo Pursel
3. Tre Humphrey
4. Bo Newport
5. Tim Wrestler
Bo Pursel @ 125. Nick's 160
I went and watched a couple rounds yesterday to cheer on Lawrence High before I went to work. For the most part, it looked like the seeded wrestlers in each pool were winning there way to their seed. I was told that during the seeding meeting, coaches were fighting tooth and nail down to the 12th seed. I saw Wright-Conklin get an 8 second pin, then Harraleson get a 12 second pin. I saw Bo Pursel wrestle, fun to watch, and Newport looked pretty strong. Missed Austin Hood wrestle but saw Shoemaker in action. Cheered on and I am hoping for a good tourney from Trent Robb, he looked like a beast.
I wish I could give you more then my biased observations. Eudora, PLEASE don't let go of this tourney. The environment definitely had the feel that some exciting matches were in store for today.
If anyone can post some play by play that would be great, or at least some results.
Good luck everyone wrestling today!!!!!!!
Dillon Scanlon from Lansing has got to be the scariest 152 pounder I have ever seen. From the stands, he looks all of 189. I am thinking body building might be a future consideration for him.
I am glad that you brought up Trent Robb. I want to give Kudos to the wrestler that got taken down hard on the mat in what looked like a too close to call illegal body slam. I believe the official awarded this wrestler a point for the "illegal slam" which would have DQ'd Robb if he couldn't continue (unless the rule has changed). After a few minutes on the mat, obviously in discomfort if not pain, he got back in the battle and finished the match. I have a lot of respect for that young man.
Round five is complete.
Taking a break to create brackets. Tournament will not start until 11:30.
Teams - 1st Lansing, 2nd Baldwin, 3rd Mill Valley,4th Spring Hill, 5th St. Thomas, 6th Eudora, 7th Chanute, 8th Rossvile, 9th Prairie View, 10th Lawrence.
Thanks for the nice words. I was out on the mat w/ coach and trainer during the examination and I can tell you that from the conversations I walked off the mat expecting the stoppage. Imagine my surprise when I turned around and saw him toeing the line. He actually outscored Trent that final 1:30. Afterwards when I asked why in the hell he continued, he simply said he wasn't finished yet. I decided to hold him out the rest of tournament. Adrenaline had worn off and there is plenty of wrestling yet to come. I was more proud of him at that moment then any other time his hand has been raised. Heard Robb went on to have an overtime thriller with Mark Smith.
Tim Wrestler of Chanute over Bo Pursel for 1st at 125.
TJ Stokes is champ at 130 in a close match over Jared Fiscus of Chanute.
what happened at 103,112,119?
Harrelson took 1st at 119. I will try to look up 112 and 103.
Kiefer Hurla of Rossville just stuck Spencer Blew in the second period to win at 140. Close match but Hurla was generally in control.
Any word on team scores? Any new updates?
Mill Valley holding 2nd place. Lansing in 1st. Chanute charging hard.
Sam Son of Chanute over Dillon Scanlon 5-3 for 152 champion.
Who did hunter wrestler in the finals at 119?
Who did hunter wrestler in the finals at 119?
He defeated Austin Hood of Louisburg.
Pursel of Tongy over an injured Andrew VanHolland of Mill Valley at 160. Pursel may have cost his team some points after the match for unsportsmanlike display.
Reece Wright-Conklin of Lawrence vs. Baughman of Lansing at 171. It's Conklin 6-0.
Donny Parr of DeSoto vs. Alex Stockton of Gardner in the finals at 189. Donny Parr pinned Stockton for the win. Parr looks very strong and won all his pool matches by fall.
At 215 Leo Beck is injured and can't wrestle for the championship, so Eric Mason of Aquinas is wrestling MV Coach Keal's two sons for 1st place. The two boys are tag teaming and giving Mason all he can handle. Nice sportsmanship from the champion Eric Mason.
With only 285 to go it looks like mathematically it will be
1. Lansing
2. Mill Valley
3. Gardner/Edgerton
4. Chanute
I will try to hang around and verify.
Zach Callahan of Mill Valley wins at 285 by a score of 2-1 over Eudora's Dillon Litherland.
5. Chanute
4. Aquinas
3. Gardner
2. Mill Valley
1. Lansing.
Final top 5 school scores.

who beat shoemaker? who beat hood ?
Hood beat Shoemaker and Haralson beat Hood.
who was voted the Outstanding Wrestler recipient ?
Shoemaker lost 0-1 to Hood (if I remember right). Haralson beat Hood 1-0 in the finals. I watched a great match between Dickman and Ikenberry with Dickman getting the nod. Haralson had a great tournament and wrestled an excellent match in the finals. I will say that this was one heck of a bracket and all of these wrestlers put out a great amount of effort. Overall, there was some quality wrestlers and quality matches throughout the tournament. It was a lot of fun to be a spectator for this one.
Don't know but I would have voted for Tim Wrestler.
He beat Bo Newport, Zach Hoehn and Bo Pursel today!
I would have to concur, WOW ! thats like getting through not only a State bracket but Grand STate !
I will post round robin results and brackets sometime tomorrow
I think a few freshman turned some heads this weekend .......
Dickman-MV, Himpel-Tong, Lambotte-Ross, Williams-Gard, Henes-STA, most of these kids came out of East Ks wrestling room...KUDOS to these great young men
I thought Henes and Dickman wrestled STA kids? A lot of good wrestlers, including non STA high school, who have come out of that kids program.
Luke has wrestled for STA Kids since he was 4 years old! We have Coach Sean to thank for preparing him for high school.
Have to agree though that there were some good freshman out there this weekend. It's great to be involved in a sport that as a freshman you can compete at the Varsity level.
Don't know but I would have voted for Tim Wrestler.
He beat Bo Newport, Zach Hoehn and Bo Pursel today!
Tim Wrestler for President!
That was an amazing effort by Wrestler. The day before, he lost to Tre Humphrey. In turn, Humphrey lost 11-3 to Nemer and 5 hours later Humphrey beat Nemer 10-0! Now I have to try ranking that 125 bracket?!
Another observation.... Coach Lambotte has lifted that Rossville team to a new level. They crowned three champions in a row, including a pin over Spencer Blew at 140. That match was tied 7-7 when the fall came. It was NOT a fluke. Congrats to Keifer Hurla. I plan to find a place for that kid in the rankings.
119 is also going to be a challenge. Hunter Haralson lost to Norris last week and rebounds, beating Austin Hood.
It was great action yesterday. More than once I was watching SIX ranked wrestlers on all three mats. And the FRESHMEN! Henes, Dickman, Williams, Lambotte, Durosette and others.
Nice job by Eudora! I sure hope this event continues.
Chief, I was just looking at my rankings for 321A @ 140.
Here is what I have after this weekend:
140:
1. Kiefer Hurla - 12 - Rossville (1st Eudora beat #1 5A Blew pin)
2. Kale Newell - 12 - Smith Center (lost to #4 4A Strauss pin)
3. Billy Broeckelman - 12 - Norton (3rd Clay Center lost to #3 6A Schreiner 10-5)
4. Alex Thibault - 10 - Halstead (1st Hesston)
5. Riley Hunsicker - 11 - ELLIS (1st Minneapolis beat #7 321A Clarke)
6. Kyle Rice - 12 - Horton
7. Kregg Clarke - 11 - Lyons
This is my best guess.
Austin Gibson should be on that list..
Too bad only the top six place
GE wrestled well this weekend. Two open weights due to injury - only one senior and a third place team finish.
Did NOT get to go - Tell me about 215. Was Beck ahead before the slam? Is he ok now? I hope so!
Was stalling called in the Mason/Pacheco match? I heard something about a fleeing the mat call.
Those three will get to see on another this weekend!
thanks
The Mayes/Beck match was scoreless. Mayes should have been awarded two points for the takedown that they stopped it on. Certainly we all wish the best for Leo and the match was rightfully stopped because of the injury. Carl based his call on the resulting reaction instead of the actual move. He waited till then to call an illegal slam. Five neutral observers including myself disagreed with the call.
I was told that Mill Valley or Desoto was taking over this tournament. This has been a great event , The staff at Eudora are some of the best at running a tournament.
If I am not mistaken 3A 140#, Gibson ACCHS (who i understand competed pretty well @ Eudora Tourney) and Rice Horton (who is also a pretty tough grappler) will meet up in dual/tourney competion in next month which will help to show which is most deserving of the ranking. If not, I know these two will have a chance to do battle at the League Tourney as this year ACCHS has joined the Delaware Valley League Conference.
