The http://openspaces.ezstream.com/play/index.cfm?fuseaction=embstay&id=2A21051336 is very good coverage: Good camera work, good picture resolution. Announcers very good--technical description of mat action as good as I have heard on any site. Only problem seems to be an audio bleed over from another set of announcers--or a delay or echo--hard to follow. Announcers frequently say something about another broadcast?????? Anybody know what the other telecast, second link may be????

Go to this website and there is two links.

Thanks--got the 2nd telecast. Still a bad audio bleed over between the two.
Posted By: WillyM Re: 3-2-1A STATE TOURNAMENT WEB INFORMATION - 02/23/12 05:30 PM
Still good cmera work. Audio mixing or bleeding remains a major distraction and make it hard to follow the action.

I like these announcers--very competent. But why did they go to Missouri to get at least one of the announcers. He keeps calling a Giliteen-think that is similiar to the French name for the machine they use to chop of heads--the guillotine.. Over in Missouri they have the town of Bolivar named after the South American Simon' Bol'ivar, the town MAdrid named after the Spanish Ma'drid, and Ver-sails' named after the French Palace
Versailles, pronounced Versi. Their twang is not quite as good as in Missouri. but, I bet they are wearing cowboy or hard toe boots with horse or cow dodo on the heels. Keep up the good work!

But, enjoy their technical calling of the mat action. As good or better than KC Metro sports and some college wrestling I have watched on TV.

If you have both feeds coming in on your computer, you will have to turn down the audio on one or the other or you will have both sets of announcers going at the same time or you will hear the radio sponsors from one and announcers from the other.

I get great audio on both links individually.
i can watch wrestling online but does anyone know why the brackets are not updated online???

Yes, just hover your mouse over one of the broadcasts and turn down the volume in the bottom right corner.

Chase County's Trey Francka tries to manuever Norton's Branson Addington into a pinfall position during the quarterfinals of the Class 3-2-1A state wrestling tourney Thursday at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. Francka eventually won the match by pinfall.

SPECIAL TO THE CAPITAL-JOURNAL

HAYS — Something unusual happened at the regional meet last weekend in Council Grove.

That deviation from the norm surprised Chase County’s Trey Francka.

When you have the resume the junior has on the mat, one can understand his puzzlement.

“I just got up and was like, ‘I really lost,’ ” Francka said about a 4-2 overtime loss to Silver Lake’s Khamin Crow at the regional. “That loss pushed me to work harder.”

Francka was pushed Thursday during the first round of the Class 3-1A state wrestling tournament at Gross Memorial Coliseum on the Fort Hays State campus. But this time, he didn’t let one slip away.

Francka broke open a scoreless match in the 106-pound semifinals against Marysville junior Josh Goepfert for a 6-0 victory to reach a title match for the third consecutive year.

“I was looking, for myself, to get back here,” Francka said. “If I got there my freshman and sophomore year, I knew I could go back there. I knew there would be a target on my shoulders. I was No. 1 coming in. Everybody wants to beat me.”

Crow did stun Francka at the regional, but the two-time state runner-up at 103 pounds wasn’t at 100 percent because of an illness that hit him earlier in the week.

And Crow didn’t follow up his upset of top-ranked Francka with another Goliath-slaying performance at state. Instead, he lost in the first round 12-11 to Ellsworth’s Ty Nienke.

“When (Francka) was a freshman, it as a surprise,” Chase County coach Derick Budke said about his wrestler’s third trip to a title match. “Last year, he pinned his way to the finals. This year, it was different. He was sick last week, but he was able to fight it off.”

It wasn’t sickness he had to fight off Thursday, but nerves. Still, he pinned his first two opponents before battling Goepfert to a scoreless tie entering the final period.

“The book on Trey is people try to slow him down, and they know it,” Budke said. “They think if they can keep it close, they can steal one from him. That’s what happened at regionals, basically.”

But Francka, who rode out all two minutes of the second period on top, started on top again in the third and put Goepfert on his back for three nearfall points with 1:01 remaining.

He gained three more nearfall points as time wound down in the period to win 6-0.

“When I’m on top, I can be dominating,” said Francka, who improved to 37-2 and will face Nienke (31-6) of Ellsworth in Saturday’s finals. “I love leg riding. That’s one of the things I’ve done all year long. Not a lot of people can beat me at that.”

Francka beat Goepfert in last year’s semifinals as well, although it was by pinfall.

Burlington’s Colt Skillman, the school’s first state champ, beat Francka 4-0 in last year’s title match, while Francka lost by pinfall to Norton’s John Risewick as a freshman.

“It’s great for him,” Budke said about Francka making the finals. “It’s even better because all year long, people expected it of him. Obviously this weekend, he’s stepped up.”

Great live feed action. I would have paid my money to be there, but instead I will be paying my money in Park City today. Best of luck to all remaining wrestlers in 3-2-1A.

I beleive Brandon Ball only has 2 losses on the season unless he lost at regionals!
