Chief,
Caleb Franklin is a Junior, not a Senior.
blake stoval beat Tevin briscoe last year at kids state.
Garret Girard LHS is going 120
How is Greg Jones ranked ahead of Nick Haug at 126?
How is Greg Jones ranked ahead of Nick Haug at 126?
Greg Jones is a 2X State Placer, moving up one weight. Haug placed at 113.
Good point. Updated 6A rankings will be released on Tuesday.
6A Rankings are updated! Those took some time... 4A and 5A are likely tomorrow.

would have PM you but you are over your limit !
Just like 182 and 195 you are over your limit on Pesek's
Chief... I know rankings don't mean squat, but if my memory serves me correctly Prieto beat Dipman at the Wichita Classic last year.. It's high school and I understand your doing your best. I appreciate your efforts. It will all be worked out eventually!
That one should get worked out at the Derby Tourney on the first weekend in January

Of course the Pesek at 182 is really named Emilio!

That win did keep Dipman behind Prieto in the pre-season ranking but Braden then beat the #1 All-Class ranked Logan Terrill in their dual. Impact wins in this high school season weigh heavier than a 14U match last season.
Like I said rankings don't mean squat!
Like I said rankings don't mean squat!
Current season matches carry more weight than last season as well as two seasons ago as well as 3rd grade victories.
Jack, it was'nt last year it was 3 years ago 12&u under braden lost 2 to 0. Just sayin...
You are right they didn't wrestle at the Classic I am getting older and my memory failed me. So I went to track and looked at the 95-100lb 14u bracket. I remember now! Thanks
Rankings mean a lot more than squat, but you still have to wrestle.
Don't see how Kennedy could be ahead of Matthews at 145.
Think Mitchell should be 2 or 3 at 152.

The Kennedy/Matthews comparison was a tough one. With Kennedy injury defaulting at state and Davis placing 4th at 145, it would seem an easy decision to give him the nod. Davis got off to a choppy start and went 2-3 at Gardner. Two of his out of state losses were to non-placing sub 500 guys. I know he will get back on track, but for now I ranked him 2nd. At 152, the 2-6 guys are REAL close. I anticipate one or more of those guys moving down to 145.
Best wishes to Cole Moses in recovering from his injury! Praying for the doctors also and healthy rehab...
Still think Matthews tops Kennedy but could be wrong of course. Watched Kennedy at Derby and he is certainly solid, but they don't come much tougher than Matthews.
Did I see right that Millsap lost this last weekend and if so, to who?
It was a disqualification.
Well obviously I shouldn't speculate and won't.
But I just couldn't help but be a little curious about what could have precipitated it just thinking to my self, "does this mean some anticipated showdown or rematch is eminant?"
Thanks for the info Chief. Best wishes to Millsap.

Please quit using big words around us 4A guys........
I'm cracking up doug747, so hard I about had a heart attack, about rolled out of my chair and hit my head.
Thanks for the laugh, but stop doing that as it could be hazardous to my health. Don't you care about my well being?
How does Nick Haug stay in the rankings when he never competes?
How does Nick Haug stay in the rankings when he never competes?
He beat two ranked wrestlers at the Bobcat on January 12th. He was injured at that tournament and will return soon.
Some new names at 132. Who fell out?
Some new names at 132. Who fell out?
Nick Haug and Shane Brock. Haug may still return and I have not seen Brock in the MZ line-up. It's been Nuno there.
WOW I was looking throught the 6A rankings, and it looks as if 6A is going to be tough for years to come. Only 5 out of 14 #1 ranked kids are seniors. This could make for some good match ups in the future.
Tommy Miller is a Junior at 120lbs .
Earnest Caldwell Of Wichita East Pinned Jordan Beckner Of Wichita Northwest @ GWAL.
Yes Caldwell beat an injured Beckner, But he got PINNED in first period by unranked Devin Moore of Bishop Carroll in finals of GWAL Tournament.
On Thursday Garret Haskins WH/145(16-16) was beating Ernest Caldwell (Wichita East) 8-1 and then pinned him.
On Saturday at GWAL Haskins was beating Caldwell 7-6 and turned in from bottom and was pinned by him.
On Saturday at GWAL Caldwell then pinned Beckner from Wichita NW #6 ranked 145.
2 weeks prior, Haskins beat Beckner 14-8
On Saturday at GWAL Spangler (From Goddard and now Wichita North) beat Haskins for the 2nd time this season.
On Saturday at GWAL Beckner Inj defaulted to Spangler from North.
Now add in that Beckner has beaten Spangler twice previously...and beat Caldwell in their dual 18-9...
???
Devin Moore, Bishop Carroll @ 145 beat Spangler in semifinals and then pinned Caldwell in finals of GWAL. No, it doesnt have anything to do with 6A only, but shows who was best in Wichita on that day. Good luck to all wrestlers at state regionals this weekend.

You are correct..... It has nothing to do with 6A and Devon was the best GWAL Wrestler on February 9th, 2013. He is a tough kid and seems to be a nice young man.
If you want to plug your kid you have a 1st Amendment right to do so. Seems a little strange being it was only a discussion for 6A Rankings but you know what, free country…… (For Now at least)! Have a great Regional and State Tournament and I hope BC and KMC represent the league well!
Wasn't meant as a plug, but if that what it sounds like, I'm fine with that. I just was amused that a 16-16 wrestler is worried about seeding criterion for a regional. All you have to look at is the overall records. Also, props to Beckner who has been wrestling with an injury. Everyone have good luck and be without injury throughout regionals everywhere.
That 16 an 16 wrestler made no coment or was worried about regionals not sure where you got that. He'll do the best he can with whoever he gets first.
Final Pre-State 6A rankings are updated!
http://www.kansaswrestling.org/images/docs/Rankings/6a.pdfEvery year I get questions about wrestlers that are on the same side of the bracket. For example a #1 and #2 on the same side.
These rankings are not predictions according to the brackets. They are rankings based on my available criteria.
Thank you to all coaches, wrestlers and fans that have contributed to the accuracy of the rankings! It has been another great year of wrestling!
To all the wrestlers going to state:
GO MAKE THE REAL RANKINGS ON THE MAT!- Chief
At 195 Wichita East's Deonta Thomas is ranked 2nd but he did not wrestle at regionals.

That is corrected and will reflect shortly. Thanks.
Rief Chenegade-
I know you have a tough job doing the rankings. I feel for you, as it's a thankless job...but while you're making corrections, I have to stick up for #TeamTopHat here. The fact that they're not ranked in the Top 10 at this point in the year makes me think that it was not you, but your alter-ego Dr. SillyPants McGee who was responsible for this week's Top 10 list.
Before you laugh your old friend Prant out of the forum, peep this: I know that the top-hatted grapplers of Ol' Rooal beat Lawrence (#7) in a dual earlier this season, even though WR was missing several starters. (I'm sure Lawrence was, too. Them's the breaks.) If, however, your rankings are based not on dual prowess, but tournament performance, then I am puzzled as to why Wichita Heights (#10) is ranked, as Washburn Rural beat them just last week at regionals.
Individually, I would love to see #TeamTopHat's own Weston Mikoleit get some love at 132. I mean, the guy is 18-2 and a regional champ, and he's been unranked since returning from injury. His wrestling ability is simply Prant-like (but quicker, more technically proficient, and with a significantly better record). And I firmly believe that anyone whose ability is labeled "Prant-like" is a rankable individual.
Just because #TeamTopHat's coach is too large for belts and totally demolishes all hospitality rooms is no reason to hold it against his wrestlers, Rief. Do the right thing and give #TeamTopHat some love.
Love,
Prant Garker

Prant,
All of us on the forum are glad to see your return on the forum and your explanation of the strange logo you are now calling your own. I have seen Rural's improved team and agree that they are not to be overlooked in any bracket. In your Heights comparison, they placed 7 at Regionals and will likely place 3-4 at state with a likely champion. Rural placed 10 at regionals and currently have 2 ranked wrestlers, the highest at 5th place. I absolutely considered your 132 but could not find criteria that would displace a ranked wrestler. Your 195 also has a good chance of placing and has at times been ranked.
Having said that, it would not surprise me at all to see the Junior Blues crack the Top 10. All the best in Wichita!

Rief-
While I appreciate the detailed explanation and the work you do, this all seems like a big Chike Murch conspiracy if you ask me.
Chike Murch is a known throughout the Kansas wrestling community as a shady character. If 6A rankings were a Denzel Washington movie where Denzel was a hard-headed-but-lovable-cop trying to change a corrupt system from the inside, Chike Murch would play the role of the rotten supervisor who is in on the corruption and tries to thwart Denzel at every turn so he can line his fat pockets with diamonds and gold and stuff. In short, Chike Murch is not to be trusted. Just FYI.
#TeamTopHat!
Grant Parker,
While you may believe that, you could not be further from the truth. Chief sends me the rankings after they are done and posted.
As far as being a Rotten person, corrupt person, lining my pockets, and an untrustworthy person..... You are allowed your opinion just like the rest of the nation and have a 1st Ammendment right to say what you want.
I am going to assume you were joking to make myself feel better, but if your characterization of me is your honest feeling...
Sorry you feel that way.... and feel free to come to me face to face Friday or Saturday and explain why..
but don't be upset if I exercise my constitutional right to defend myself.... only I won't need a weapon but instead a deadly double leg and ground and pound!
Have a great day!
Prant, would it not be Wenzel Dashington or am I to infer that this whole flip thing is only for wrestling people and does not apply to the "real world"? And if that is the case, what about Meston Wikoleit? Is it just for older wrestling people or for people you like, or don't like in the case of Chike Murch? You need to be more consistent with this whole thing because as is, I am not sure on the reasoning.
An excellent point, XGHSWC. (What in the world am I supposed to do with your name?) Few people know, but the famous actor's real name actualy IS Wenzel Dashington, and the rearranging of letters in his name was appropriate. Calling Meston Wikoleit "Weston Mikoleit" was an obvious oversight and typo on my part, for which I apologize. His legal name is "Meston Q Wikoleit," you can check the birth certificate and everything.
Mr. Murch--all Prant banter ("Pranter," if you will) is intended to be witty. Cheers, my fat-pocketed, diamond-encrusted friend.
And sadly, I won't be in Wichita this weekend. I'll be dreaming of Braum's peanut butter cup shakes (the drink of champions) and following #TeamTopHat's TrackWrestling updates religiously from afar.
Lots of Love,
Prant Garker
Thanks for the clarification Prant.
Sorry you won't be able to be a State.
Best wishes with everything.
How about Xr. MGHSWC? No I don't like that. You can just call me Hutt Bead or Hss Aole. Everyone else probably does anyway.
