321A Norton Regional
Pre-season No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 teams. Too many good wrestlers will once again be left home.

That 6A Hutch Regional is going to be interesting!! We haven't even started the season and we are already anticipating the regional! smile

I think it is way too early to discuss the strength of regionals based on early rankings. Remember early ranking are sometimes grossly inaccurate!!! smile

I agree. Rankers are pretty much hacks.

I hope that every wrestler, at this time, has a goal that involves one of these:

WIN STATE (really should be everyone's goal, even if it is a stretch goal)
PLACE AT STATE
QUALIFY FOR STATE

The path to STATE is your assigned regional. You can be 0-0 or 0-20 when you go to regionals but still obtain one of those three goals. It is THE most important tournament of the season. Since we haven't wrestled yet the only data we have is last year's performance and this year's expectations. Lets generate some excitement by talking about what appears to be as it is way better than NO excitement at all. Use the rankings and expectations to motivate your wrestlers.

Good luck to all of the wrestlers this week and all season!

Don't worry, Will, we know exactly how to use the rankings to motivate our wrestlers. It was pretty easy to use them last year to motivate our guys! This year, since we ARE ranked in the top 10, we will of course use them in a different way. Last year we were motivated to prove Chief wrong, this year we are motivated to prove him right!

We enjoy the rankings and appreciate all of Chief's hard work. I was just ribbing him a little and Red Storm, who was the 4A ranker for about a decade, was probably ribbing himself!

Oh no Will!!!! You didn't say that??!!! It will cause pundits to throw their hands in the air and rail against any system that allows bad wrestlers into the state tournament!

I didn't say I liked it, it is just the fact of the matter. I stand by my stance that TOO MANY wrestlers qualify for state in 5A and 6A, 50% where as only 25% make it to 4A and even less than that to 321A. I am still a proponent of only two classifications for wrestling, three at most.
