That kid is a monster. He never stops. Does anyone know how many take downs he got this year?

Yeah, did anyone catch Tagen telling Cody to "Stop. Just stop." while he was wrestling during the 3rd period? I think Cody was wanting some more takedowns, and Tagen did finish with one more takedown but I think he was getting a little perturbed with big brother getting on his case.

Congrats to Tagen on winning his 3rd title. He has one of the biggest motors I've seen in high school wrestling and he is a takedown machine.

Tagen is one of the most talented, athletic wrestlers I have seen for some time in Kansas wrestling. Too bad his brother tends to still the spotlight from him with his antics in the corner. This has happened since Tagen was young, I remember when Tagen was in middle school his brother was causing a seen at kids tournaments. Tagen keep up the good hard work, and it will continue to pay off for you.

The Bro really flew when he got taken down twice and stuck in first minute at Bobcat.

Alright, no need to start attacking Cody. Tagen will tell you that without his brothers extreme coaching he wouldn't be the wrestler he is. He does not steal any spot light from Tagen. He just wants to see him succeed and hates to see him lose. I'm the same way with my brothers.

Anonymous bomb throwers.

I don't think anyone disagrees that Cody has been a big part of his brother's success. I believe everyone is just tired of seeing him be a total spaz in his corner match after match. He is stealing the spotlight from Tagen. My fiance always tells me she looks forward to watching Cody go crazy during the match.

I am fortunate enough to have been able to watch my little brother win 4 state titles so I know how nerve racking it can be. However, after every tourney I gave Dylan a big hug and told him how proud of him I was. I didn't scream at him, and make him run sprints afterwards like Cody did to Tagen. What is the point of wrestling if you can't even enjoy your success? I have no idea how he gets away with his actions tournament after tournament. I guess I'm just frustrated because Cody doesn't know how lucky he is.

Every wrestler on the team has to run sprints after matches. So you may want to look for someone else to judge on the running thing. Cody has been coaching both my sons for years. Both my boys love & respect him & so do I. Heck I dont know any one that dont like him. Cody will be in my sons corners for years to come. So I guess you will continue to be a fustrated individual:)

I rarely read this forum because often I feel there is more negative than positive on here. As a matter of fact until today I didn't even have an account to post on here. However, I thought I would shed some light on this topic. First of all there is no one on this earth I love with all of my heart more than my brother. Anyone who TRUELY knows me realizes this. We are hard headed competitive people who do butt heads with each other at times. With that being said we never question each others love for one another and would bleed for the other, no questions asked. Second of all I did hug my brother after his match. Im sorry it wasn't immediatley and that some may have missed it. Funny how Im stealing the spotlight yet this topic started as a positive thread about TAGEN yet someone drags it down. Third of all I believe Mr. Luellen cleared things up on the running. I understand that my passion and extreme want for my athletes to succeed may bleed out during competition more than others. If it is that bothersome to anyone in particular......look the the other way. Im not changing. If you dont like the way I am feel free to approach me and express yourself. You have that right. I however have the right to tell you to stick it where the sun dont shine hahaha. I may be an intense firey dude, but I LOVE this sport, LOVE my athletes, and will continue to do what I do for years to come. Im excited for all the post season events, both folkstyle and freestyle. Lets keep Kansas moving in the right direction and strive to be on top. Have a nice day and I look foward to continuing the season with the rest of the die hard mat rats out there!

Cody,

Don't worry about Thunderrolz.....by his title, seems he is a mad SJA supporter who is mad you didnt take them up on their offer (Wink Wink)to come coach and bring your brother along to join the team. But I'm sure those rumors aren't true since we all know SJA doesn't recruit.

Its really funny, every MV person I have talked to just wishes you would disappear.

You dont worry Peanut I saw your wrestlers and almost all of them cant get even one takedown.

I have coached Cody for years, I have competed against Cody for years, I have been in the room many times in the past year with Cody and Taegan. Cody's only concern is his brother. His intensity is the same whether you are talking to him on the phone or if he is coaching in the room. He only has one gear and it is full speed. If I won the lottery and could pick a staff, Cody would be on my staff for many reasons. I know Taegan well enough to know who he would pick for a coach. But most of all, when I paid my $11 a day to watch state wrestling, I watched the wrestlers not the coaches in the corner, I am just saying!!!!!

Much love and respect for Cody and Tagan. Steele sharpens Steele! I suppose Tom Brands and John Smith steal all the thunder from their athletes too. You fellas need to watch some college wrestling and see how the big boys coach and play. Get your athletes fired up. I don't think you'll find too many GREAT coaches sitting on their hands in the corner. Congratulations to both of you guys. If only people knew how many miles were traveled and time spent, lifting, running, and working out by 2 brothers and best friends.

" all my wrestlers". Sorry you must have me confused with someone else.

When they get to the T's in snow storm names - Tagan would be good - Rocky delivered a pretty good punch to the KC area this morning.

Can we get back to the original question? Some of us would still like to know.

P.S. Cody you can coach my kids anytime you want.

Met Cody for the first time this week at a practice for the metro classic, before that i had never met him. I would not had recognized him if he had walk up and punched me in the mouth, and my son (Reis) wrestled Tagen in the finals at Eudora, the second week of the seasons and I assume his brother Cody was coaching him? And still Today, I have no clue who was in his corner coaching him. I guess all my attention was focused on my wrestler, and i was really not worried about who was in his corner coaching. My son Reis lost 11-5 I believe, and I could tell Tegan was not happy with the margin of victory, but through the entire match and even after the match, I really can't remember Cody being in his his brother's corner, if that's who was coaching him at the time. I do not remember him getting out of control or yelling and screaming? Regardless, I have defiantly seen a lot worse in kids club from back in the day, (early 2000's) dealing with the Team of Hard Knox, but we are all cool now and we have let bygones be bygones!! I root for all the TOHK kids now!! I guess It's just being passionate for your kids and wanting them to be successful and win in the sport of wrestling!!!
You can not fault someone for being passionate about the sport of wrestling, everyone has there own style of coaching their kids. And just because you do not yell and scream does not mean you are not passionate about the sport, or you don't want your kid to win, it's just the style of the coach. I have never yelled or screamed at my boys, win or loose, that's just not my style, but every kid responds differently! Just my 2 cents.

I would just like to see him give this guy another try Darick Lapaglia
Posted By: Tyson Schreiner Re: Lambotte - 03/08/13 02:49 AM
Darick is a freak, not many in the midwest can touch him. Check him out on youtube and Flo wrestling. He can almost sleep while wrestling, then turn it on or off whenever he needs to. I have never seen anybody wrestle like him. When everyone talks about intensity, he has none. If he did/would, would even be scarier.
Watch him wrestle last years state championship match. One of the most confident things i have seen. Darick slowly walks over and gets in the up position, and looks down and notices his opponents tag was sticking out of his singlet, so he fixes the kids tag, and proceeds to wrestle. Fun to watch.
