I can't be there in person tonight. Does anyone know if they are webcasting, and if so, can you provide the link? Thanks!

Tyler had Karsten stuck but didn't get the call.

Agreed. Our kansas ref would have called it. Darn it.
Posted By: ath618 Re: Blue Chip Metro Classic - 03/09/16 01:26 PM
Our Kansas ref was doing everything he could possibly do to make it impartial. I thought he was a bit slow on some of his calls. Overall he did a much better job than the Missouri ref.

The Missouri ref on the other hand easily saw the pin and didn't call it. He also was visibly upset about a takedown call on the edge of the mat. He was shaking his head, looking at the Missouri coaches, and just the look of disgust on his face made everyone in the Kansas stands know that he was not impartial on his calls. He did get a bit heckled by the Kansas fans and was responding to the fans. He has one job and that is to call a match, not get confrontational with the fans.

I would like to thank Blue Chip Wrestling for putting his name in the program. Now we all know who not to hire for even a kids tournament.

I don't see the point in calling out the refs when this wasn't even close to the deciding match. MO won by a landslide even without the 6 points from that match.

At that point of the event it would have been a 12 point swing which would have given KS a lead. Momentum is a huge thing in a dual event.

So, let me get this straight...If an official makes a mistake costing an individual a match we should just ignore it if it would have had no implication on the team score?? What world are you from???

The matches in bold could have gone the other way and the dual score would have been much different.

At the time of the controversial match the score was MO 10 KS 7...If the KS pin would have been called it would have been KS 13 MO 10 instead of MO 16 KS 7... A huge swing.

Mr. Cokeley I understand momentum but saying that the matches in bold could have gone the other way just because of one pin is ridiculous. The 132 match was before the match in question. What I am saying is that even if they got the pin and maybe the 152 match it wouldn't have mattered. The same thing could be said about the last minute takedown in the Luellen match too. That one could have gone either way. Overcoming adversity in a hostile environment is something most wrestlers deal with every time they wrestle. Did you stay for the HWT match? It was never in question. I am sure when your son is in the event next year the dual might be closer but this year was far out of reach.

My point is that a call is either right or wrong in an individual match regardless of the final team score. At the time of the match the dual was still in question as well. I did stay for the 285. Hopefully my son will be bestowed the honor to represent KS. I know it ended poorly for KS last night but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't ask for the highest quality officiating at this type of an event.

I totally agree that the refs should be the highest quality. I don't know how they are selected. I know personally I wouldn't want to be the official at one of these type of events. The only issue I had was there were some questionable stalling warnings/calls for sure.

I agree about the Luellen match he should have been awarded near fall points.
Cory Tyler had a pin that was not called. Missouri had a great team. I did not like some of the calls but that's wrestling. Kansas will reload & be back next year. Kansas has 3 million people Missouri has 6 million. Missouri has a 100% more wrestlers to choose from.
