Just from reading a few responses posted about the wrestling cheerleaders, i feel like some guys would rather not have them!! What do you wrestlers think? Do you want cheerleaders, or do you think we're just a distraction?!
Posted By: W. Heights AD Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/29/04 02:25 PM
They are fine, if they stay in the stands. Why should they get to be matside, but the rest of the team or parents can't.

Vote: Distraction
Posted By: adversity Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/29/04 02:41 PM
The only distraction made by chearleaders is to people sitting in the stands. They have never bothered me while wrestling, but maybe they do for some wrestlers. My suggestion is just to focus more on your match, I almost garantee that any quality wrestler doesn't get distracted while on the mat. I dont mind them being matside, they're just supporting their schools.
Posted By: Wrastler2004 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/29/04 03:36 PM
Cheerleaders are ok with me aslong as the dont get into the yelling match with the other cheerleaders to see whos louder but i think they are ok
Posted By: who am i Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/29/04 03:38 PM
I have never even noticed the cheerleaders were there during a match as I have tunnel vision and have trouble focusing on anything more than 5 feet away, much less the cheerleaders.

Wrestling cheerleaders eat it, Reno style.
Except when they give me Laffy Taffy.

We haven't had any wrestling cheerleaders for a couple of years and we are surviving quite well.

My Vote: Irrelevant in wrestling

Those who supposedly can't compete are said to coach, those who can't coach sit on the side of a mat as a cheerleader or like a maniac mother yelling from the 8th row back giving match winning instructions that we would not have a clue to do without like:

TAKE EM DOWN!!!!!!! HALF HALF HALF!!!! and my personal favorite PIN HIM!!!!

I salute you crazy moms and annoying cheerleaders without you it would just be a technical match with nothing to distract us from it.
Posted By: Dingbat Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/29/04 06:18 PM
Interesting point, Sweazy.

Bud Light presents: Real American Heroes
(Real American Heroes!!)

Today we salute you, Mrs. screaming mom wrestling fan.

(Mrs. Screaming mom wrestling fan!)

Those who supposedly can't compete are said to coach, those who can't coach sit on the side of a mat as a cheerleader... but those who can, scream match-winning instructions from the top of the stands...

(Say it loud!)

like a maniac, you yell from the 8th row back giving match winning instructions that we would not have a clue to do without like:

"TAKE EM DOWN!," "HALF! HALF! HALF!" and my personal favorite: "PIN HIM!"

(Stick his shoulders down, now!)

So crack open a Bud Light, Mrs. Screaming mom wrestling fan, and remember... without you it would just be a technical match with nobody to distract us from it.

(Chior girls: We'd have no distractions!)

i agree with the I Love My Wrestlers girl... this is a Wrestling Forum... i don't think anyone really cares one way or the other about cheerleaders so lets all focus our energy on the wrestlers... (and this is comin from a cheerleader... im even sick of it! haha)
the cheerleaders aren't going anywhere... so deal with it if you don't like us!!! :p
Posted By: rocknraider Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/30/04 03:29 AM
I like the extra added excitement of a bunch of cheerleaders pounding on the mat and screaming worthless advice that sometimes dont even correlate to the situation ur in on the mat. Also its really nice when u guys wear ur skirts that are so high we can see ur bums.
Posted By: markschieber Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/30/04 03:29 AM
I like all the talk about cheerleaders. It gives us all something to argue about that isn't actually wrestling. Plus it's a good way to know who to look for at state.
Posted By: iFeelFat Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/31/04 02:52 AM
I'm sick and tired of everyone thinking being distracted is a bad thing. I personally don't want to spend 24 hrs a day thinking about other guys in spandex. Sure, you need to concentrait on your matches, but you can psyce yourself out. I've been wrestling sense I was 7 yrs old, I have drilled a double, single, standup, sit out, fireman's, mary poppins, fish hook, ect. so many times that I found I do them the best when I'm not even thinking about them (which is why drilling is so **** important). Seriously, how many people during a match think "OK, Shoot a double NOW!". NO ONE, you train and drill and train and shadow wrestle and drill and drill untill you get to the point where you see an opening, and you hit your shot. You get to that point, and then you drill some more.

And as far as distractions go, nothing is more distracting than your opponent. You're out there trying to wrestle YOUR match, and here's this jerk out there trying to steal your thunder. You're trying to show off your single leg and then this guy SHOOTS ON YOU. How am I supposed to concentrate on my single leg if I'm busy sprawling?(this paragraph was written in a sarcastic tone untill now) The whole point of wrestling, hell ANY compition is to distract your opponent more than he or she can distaract you. Why else would we have set-up's for our shots, hand fighting, wrist control?

oh yeah ,and I vote a definate yes for cheerleaders (even the fat ones).

LoL.....no offense to the big cheerleaders! But as a cheerleader I don't think it's right for a big, like a very large girl to be a cheerleader! Yes it may be something that she loves to do. But if I were her parents I wouldn't want my daughter to have the embarrassment of being a large cheerleader!
Posted By: kswrestlingfan02 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 01/31/04 10:56 PM
Irish Cheer-
If you are sitting here defending that cheerleaders aren't just there to prance around and look pretty then why is it that most of your posts are asking people to look at pictures of you and then you post and say bigger girls shouldn't cheer. if cheering is really about showing off your school spirit like you say it is, then why does it matter what size you are?
Posted By: Irish_Cheerleader Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/01/04 12:12 AM
I don't have a BIG problem with bigger girls cheering, cuz it's something I love to do, and I know that others take it as serious and love it just as much as me! But I was saying is that I wouldn't encourage my daughter(if she was big) to go out and cheer! How embarrassing that would be for her, and how many people do you think would make fun of her!!!! I think there are a lot of people who make fun of bigger girls! And I'm not on here telling people to look at my picture, since all the wrestlers on here are commenting on how pretty some of the girls on the squads are, I was just simply saying on looking at what the wrestling cheerleaders at our school look like!....I'm really not to try and imply anything but give my opinion on what I wouldn't encourage someone bigger in size to do! But my love for cheerleading can be the same to anyone, which would encourage them to try-out! That's all I was saying!

Irish Cheerleader that you basically called fat looks good, I would be proud to be a chapman wrestler having her cheering for me!
Posted By: wrestlingfan_05 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/01/04 02:34 AM
Irish_Cheerleader I thought you were a basketball cheerleader so why are you concerned about wrestling or wrestling cheerleaders?? Also why were you making fun of bigger cheerleaders? We had a bigger cheerleader at our school and she is awesome. At least she has the guts to get up in front of everyone and cheer unlike some other people..
Posted By: Irish_Cheerleader Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/01/04 04:06 PM
For one thing I wasn't making fun of bigger cheerleaders! I was just saying that if it was my kid, that I wouldn't want her to have the embarrassment that maybe some other bigger cheerleaders have! I don't have anything against bigger cheerleaders. And another thing is I was just simply asking what you guys thought of our wrestling cheerleaders! I really could care less about looks...but just getting an idea of what you guys are talking about oooo soo hot cheerleaders I was just wondering if you wrestlers have seen our cheerleaders. And for me as being a basketball cheerleader! YES I AM! and I know I'm on a wrestling forum! I do relize this. But when i hear that people are talking about wrestlers at my school, and something was said about MY boyfriend I will say something about it! I really don't think it matters when I got and support the wrestling team!
Posted By: Pups4Ever Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/01/04 05:28 PM
Now, this is interesting, you are telling me that you'd say to your daughter "Honey, you're too fat to be a cheerleader, maybe you shouldn't do something that you would potentially like."? I was (well, still am...) fat and unathletic, but my parents still encouraged me to go out for sports. I sucked at wrestling, but I kept at it thanks to their support. If they would have discouraged me from wrestling because I wasn't very good, I would have probably quit after 8th grade; I would have never got to experience the pride of wrestling and qualifying for state and experienceing the walk-in (which was AWESOME) and the brotherhood of wrestling.

My parents would never discourage me from trying anything. Heck, they would have supported me if I went out for cross-country! Discouraging a kid from doing something they want to do (especially because of their looks!) is wrong, wrong, wrong!

At Caney, most of the cheerleaders were girls who couldn't make the basketball squad, except for one who never tried out for the basketball squad, she loved wrestling. She may have not been the best-looking cheerleader on the wrestling squad (she was a little hefty, too), but I appreciated that hug on the podium at regionals from her more than I would have appreciated it from any of the others.

Posted By: Irish_Cheerleader Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/01/04 06:04 PM
I mean yes...if she definately LOVED cheerleading like I do, then i would encourage her! But I would tell her the things that could happen! I don't want my kid to come home crying everyday cuz someone girls made fun of her or someguys made fun of her for doing something she loves! I just don't see how I could let me daughter go and do something that could hurt her! I didn't saythat i wouldn't encourage her cuz I would But all I'm saying is that I wouldn't want her hurt!!!!!!!!
Posted By: wrestlingchic4u Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/02/04 03:22 AM
ok if you had a daughter that was in high school and she was crying cause someone made fun of her.....GROW UP! and if you have to stick up for your BF then he needs to let his balls drop also....now....since your a bball cheerleader and all why dont you stick with the basketball forums instead of the wrestling ones, because obviously you dont know what your talking about and your making a fool out of yourself.
Thank you everyone who is putting the cheerleaders in their place. And nice comment on the circle cheerleaders. I wrestle at circle and I really dont have a problem with cheerleaders, but when they think that the sport of wrestling is all about them I think that those are the ones who should not cheer...(you know who you are) But can we really stop talking about the cheerleaders, because this is KWCA and not kansas Cheer coaches association.

Nicely put Best Circle High Wrestler. As for Irish Cheerleader. . . Wrong move putting down fat cheerleaders. Maybe some guys like the "chubby" ones. It isnt your right to say. ."Oh I am sorry you are fat. . . you cant be a cheerleader." You have a right to tell your daughter that she cant go out. But what kind of a message does that send your daughter. So you are saying your daughter is going to grow up and have low self esteem because her mother even thinks she is fat and thats why she isnt a cheerleader. We have all grow up to think that cheerleaders have to be fairly thin people and they are all supposed to be gorgeous people. Not anymore. I am proud to see "bigger" girls go out there and be proud of themselves. Anyways. . . I love to see girls that try to deny they dont like people looking at them when they go around and tell people where their pictures are and ask them what they think. Of course all girls like getting compliments from guys . . sayin they are hot or what not. . . but grow up. . .move on. . . get over yourselves. So if you will stop this then "yes you are all hot" Hope you are soo overcome by joy now that you heard it. Peace.

First of all I'd like to say that I was a cheerleader for my highschool. I now just stick with All-Star dance/cheerleading. I'd like to commend the cheerleaders for their efforts of boosting wrestlers or at least the fans. I think that if a cheerleading squad is organized and knows some stuff about wrestling, I don't have a problem with them cheering at matches. I do believe though, if cheerleaders are just there to pick up guys or prance around in a skirt, you have no business being there. Also, if you don't know the appropriate time to be cheering, standing up, etc., then you should not be there. I think one of the main problems with cheerleaders being at tournies is sometimes they can get in the way. I think yelling in the stands would be stupid because you'll be up in someone's ear and there's no room, but if you chose to cheer matside, you should look around you to figure out where the best place to sit would be. you don't want to get in the way of parents, paying fans, wrestlers, or coaches but you need to be visible.
that's all folks!
ps: don't hate on big people. Cheerleading is not about how cute they look in the skirt, its how spirited and dedicated they are. I know with stunting, I'm glad i had some bigger people holding me up.
Posted By: boach_clack Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/02/04 06:10 PM
Why are we even talking about cheerleadres, this is a wrestling forum. I think it is fine if they wanna hang by the sides . And besides...who is going to present all the medals?

The idiocy of your post is amazying. So if a girls size doesn't meet your standards they should what, hide at home in a closet so not to offend you. I hope there are cheerleaders out there with more between the ears than you apparently have. Every girl has the right to support their school in any activity they choose not matter their size. Maybe you should get some remedial training from you cheerleading coach so he or she can inform you what cheerleading is all about. Here's a hint, it's not about how pretty you think you look.
Posted By: Irish_Cheerleader Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/02/04 10:37 PM
I truely have nothing against bigger cheerleaders, and I do know what the real meaning of cheerleading is! But if my child wanted to be a cheerleading I truely wouldn't stop her from doing it. But I would tell them that if they were big, that there are chances of being made fun of! I couldn't stand to see my kid just get pushed around, walked on, and talked bad about her cuz she is doing what she wants to do if she doesn't look good in a skirt because she is a big girl I have no doubt in my mind that she would get made fun of! I really don't think it's right for anyone to get made fun of because they are bigger, and you guys are trying to make me look like I have something against them WHEN I DON'T! I just would like to make it clear that I wouldn't stop my child from doing it, but I would just let them know that there could be terrible things said to them that could make their self-esteem level go down! I think it would be better for me to say something to her rather than other classmates telling her by making fun of her! I don't see that to necessary!!!!

who are you irish_cheerleader, and who is your boyfriend? and i agree with everyone else against her.

This season my team has been to many tournaments with hardly any cheerleaders its kinda nice, but then again as long as the cheerleaders are there doing what they love, and understand what they are yelling out then good for them.i think everyone has their own opinion about wrestling cheerleaders. some schools have them some dont. if you dont like them ive learned to bad deal w/ them. but i do support those who go out there and cheer to build the teams support, and school spirit!

Cheerleading is not a sport.
Posted By: wrestlingfan_05 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/05/04 09:37 PM
I think that if cheerleaders want to cheer because they "love" it then that's fine, but they need to cheer instead of trying to start fights with other cheerleaders or get attention from the wrestlers.

I believe that cheerleaders are a sort of entertainment in between matches. The days can get long and boring and they may make you laugh sometimes. i.e. Last year at the Chanute wrestling tournement some certain cheerleaders were wearing air bras. And when one of them walked across the mat to give a medal to a kid on the podium, she fell and actually bounced up and down a couple of times. And when she got up one side of the bra was full of air and the other side had very little air, so she was very lopsided. It lightened up my entire day and made waiting worthwile.
Posted By: Aaron Sweazy Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/07/04 04:37 PM
wrestlerett05,

I'm glad someone from Abilene is on here because I want to stick up for a gal on the AHS wrestling cheerleading squad. This girl is like one of 4 that I saw at Herington and she looked like she totally didn't belong, she is a bigger girl, and has big clunky glasses, but bottom line is a very positive light just by observing her manerisms...she could care less on how big she is or what she looks like while "others" ridicule bigger people, maybe we can add a AHS vs. CHS cheerleader match and see what goes down. I'm Irish trough and through, and it dissapoints me when someone from my alma mater is so discriminatory to someone else just because of the way they look. I thought CHS would have woke up and eliminated bigotry, but I guess I was wrong.
Posted By: wrestlingfan_05 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/07/04 10:37 PM
To add to what Aaron said about the AHS Cheerleader...I personally know the cheerleader he is talking about. She is someone who didn't go out for cheerleading because she loved wrestling or wanting to be a part of the team in that way but she went out for cheerleading because she wanted to prove everyone wrong. When she first started cheering everyone said that there was no way she would make the squad and even if she did there wasn't any way she would last the whole season. There are always people who are talking about how surprised they are that she is still cheering, but there are a lot of people who are very pround of her and show her a lot of respect and I am one of them. Before you are going to talk (irish_cheerleader) about how "bigger" cheerleaders shouldn't be on the team, you really need to think about what you are saying because you really don't have a clue...
Posted By: power54 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/08/04 08:04 PM
All you ppl who are against cheerleaders for wrestling, what do you watch all day at the meets? Ya'll kinda worry me. I hope you don't sit around all day and watch other guys wrestle like all us normal guys watch the cheerleaders and other wrestlers hott girlfriends walk around. By the way, I don't mind the chuncky cheerleaders at all. Especially if ya stick a pretty face on them.
Posted By: Irish_Cheerleader Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/08/04 11:29 PM
I totally agree...I totally think it's cool that there are some girls that can go out there and cheer if they are larger!!! But we also have our own opinions....and I think that I took this so seriously is because i wouldn't have the courage to do that if i was large! And I was just saying that I would be scared for my kid cuz I know I have heard ppl talk crap on larger girls thats the only reason wy I was just saying! I have nothing against large cheerleaders! Sorry if it offended any of you I was just saying that I would be scared for my kid! And that I wouldn't have the courage to get up and do what I LOVE to do if I was large!!! Sorry if you took it the wrong way!

Power54,
You go to your wrestling meets to watch the cheerleaders? If my coach found out about that he would have drilled my butt so hard...

I can't imagine setting in a gym watching cheerleaders while there is a first class wrestling match going on. You are priveledged to be there, I would love to watch a wrestling match of any kind but unfortunately I cannot.

IrishCheerleader...

I know you didn't mean any harm and I'm glad you came up to what some people may have misconstrued. I don't think apologies are always necessary though if it is something that you believe in and can be backed up by statistical research. I've been in your shoes and know that whatever you say can be taken the wrong way and used to manipulate people's minds into thinking you don't care about anything, let alone those people you may have said something about. We all have freedoms of speech and stuff, but some people just can't see past the truth which hurts often.
Posted By: Ryan Jilka Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/09/04 02:14 AM
Golden Domer: I assume you are a S.Heights alum from previous posts. If this is true, are you sure Coach Gonz "would have drilled my butt so hard..." for watching cheerleaders? You might want to pick a different phrase for defending your choice to NOT watch cheerleaders. Or was it coach Sawners that would have done the drilling?

Just kidding, had to get my digs in on Mamasawn. On the cheerleading note...We must have them. Without them, I couldn't laugh as half of my team gets shot down using their "smoothe" moves. Reminds me of my younger days!

The circle cheerleaders are rude. They always be in the way on the matside. At the circle tournament. They wouldn't sit down, they was just talkin and sittin on matside. Me and my teammates were trying to watch our teammates wrestle and watch other people wrestle to.

I’m 22 Chris. And Nigel is actually my middle name. William is my first name. Nigel is British as a matter of fact. It’s actually a really common name in England. I was named after a British reporter who used to make fun of the royal couple who got married the year I was born. Anyway my view of cheerleader comes strictly as a result of my coaching and officiating experience where they do nothing but get in the way. And the fact that when I was in high school our cheerleaders spent more time talking and flirting with guys from other teams then they did actually trying to cheer us wrestlers on. Of course the stat girls were guilty too.

Well thank you. Honestly I don't even like it really. I go by Will or William pretty much everywhere outside of the wrestlimg community.

I Dont Have A Problem With Cheerleaders, Specially When They're Hot. All They're Doing Is Supporting Their School. Its The Same As Having Your Teammates On The Side Of The Mat Slapping It Tryin To Get You Pumped Up. Id Love For The Circle Cheerleaders To Cheer Me On. Id Let Them Do That Anytime
Posted By: Circle_Cheerleader Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/11/04 03:53 AM
In defense of the circle cheerleaders... that one girl that was VERY rude to the other squads cheerleader, she got yelled at by many people for that and the whole team apologized to the El Dorado cheerleaders for that and we actually get along with them now. It was a misunderstanding that was taken to far. And yes that made us all look bad but as far as being rude thats explains the only time we were really, and that was just one girl so you really can't hold it againest our entire squad. And the standing in front of the guys while they were trying to watch... why didn't you tell us to move? Also... im sorry that we were in your way but i don't think any of us knew we were in your way, what school were you from?

Cheerleaders at matside = POINTLESS. Cheerleaders in Stands = Something to look at. After that there is exactly zero reasons to have a cheerleader. Wrestling is the mental fortitude to overcome your opponent, NOT which cheerleader can get the most attention at matside. So suck it up and face it. Cheerleaders should be at home duals in the stands cheering or cheering ANYWHERE except for matside. Just my .02.

No It's Not. However, It Is Funny Looking.
Posted By: boach_clack Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/11/04 01:46 PM
We all know that cheerleadres will always be on the sides cheering. I really don't think its that big of a deal. If you guys wanna stop cheerleaders from being on the sides of the mat....maybe you should start up a committe.
Posted By: Nigel Isom Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/11/04 01:59 PM
What point would that serve, then there would be a huge uprising about female sports and how they don't get to do this and that, not something I would want to deal with.
Posted By: wrestlingchic4u Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/11/04 02:08 PM
i think the only ones who would be complaining would be the wrestling cheerleaders themselves....because they are the ones that think they are getting the shaft....i personally dont really have a problem with them, but yes they do kind of get in the way, and they stand right in front of you when your trying to watch a match....but all you have to do is politely ask them if they would sit down, and most of the time they usually do....i mean you have the occasional ones with attitudes but hey just get one right back. but heck just leave them alone, becuase once state gets here... they wont be mat side and they wont be standing in front of people, and that is where people really wanna watch the wrestling.
Posted By: DerbyCheerGirlie Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/12/04 12:15 AM
How bout you guys quit complaining about wrestling cheerleaders. We're just trying to support our school and cheer on our team. What's so wrong about that? Find something more important to argue about. We're not going anywhere. Get over it.

I wanted to stay out of this topic because I always seem to be against cheerleaders but believe me when I say I don’t mind women in short skirts. It’s just when they constantly talk about stupid (crap) that I don’t really about. Luckily OE cheerleaders don’t come to our meets anymore, mostly because don’t allow them to cheer but they were allowed to sit their and look pretty.

This is what turned me against cheerleaders as people (unless they had nice legs) A few years ago our cheerleaders didn’t come to more than 1 or 2 meets during the year and still got out of school on the Thursday to drive down to state and cheered for us. It wouldn’t have been such a big deal if they were in the same hotel with us but in Olathe School district policy they have to go to a different hotel in Wichita and get hit on by some other school wrestlers, isn’t that nice.

Hey cool 80 posts...keep it coming
Posted By: wrestlingchic4u Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/12/04 01:17 AM
we're not complaining so why dont you be quiet.....if i recall boach_clack said "we all know that cheerleaders will always be on the sides cheering"....so if that is complaining then give me your definition please, and i recall saying i didnt have a problem with them, they just sometimes get in the way, we know they are supporting end of discussion
Posted By: DerbyCheerGirlie Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/12/04 01:48 AM
I don't know about other cheerleaders, but at Derby we cheer at every dual, home or away, and every tournament our team competes in. Some cheerleaders may just "be in the way" and not really know anything about wrestling, but we're not like that. Personally, I grew up at wrestling tournaments. My dad coached at Derby for many many years and cheering for wrestling is something I enjoy doing very much. I love the sport.
Posted By: wrestlingchic4u Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/12/04 01:53 AM
hunny most cheerleaders that cheer at wrestling tournaments dont know about wrestling, so you get a thumbs up in my book for actually knowing something about it, but we arent talking about them knowing anything about wrestling...
Posted By: ABartels Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/12/04 02:55 AM
Well I always like cheerleading stories with happy endings, really warms my heart. Honestly who the heck has school spirit? What is school spirit? Who the heck goes to wrestling tournments that last all day for school spirit?
All good questions
Isn't their something better to do on Saturday, that we (wrestlers) don't know about? Esp. someone that doesn't even know anything about the sport.
Back to the main topic who cares about spirit. Cheerleading is really nice but please don't tell me your doing it for school spirit because thats a bunch of crap. There must be someother reason, if not I pity you. High school sports is great but never go to basketball games for school spirit and supporting the team. I go because either its a really good game or my friends are going to be their. Give me a real answer.

Wrestling cheerleaders are much needed. So what if they are a distraction. Who's going to rub my shoulders on the ride home. I'm not letting any other wrestlers. And definetly not my coach (except you Mattern or should I say tinker). But I just wanted to put in my two cents. I'd also like to say I love you Molly, Ashleigh, Shannon, Katy, and whoever that other one is.

Well I don't know how they do it in Towanda or Shawnee Hieghts or whereever you are from but its against the rules in many school districs for massages and other things of that type on school property or buses. It just presents too many possible problems i.e sexual assult charges and stuff like that. But if all cheerleaders are good for is massages I feel sorry for them
Posted By: T-Bird 171# Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 02/12/04 02:25 PM
Nigel I hear you give a good massage

Can we please stop talking about cheerleaders?
Well.. I am that "one" circle cheerleader that was "rude" at the circle tournament.. but no worries, i am through with the whole cheerleading scene.. There is just too much drama that comes along with it! i can't handle it all.. i have to admit i dont like cheerleading enough to put myself through it anymore. But i do have to add, we have a very classy cheerleading squad and the girls are all very sweet after you get to know them. Dont let the one incident of mine completely ruin your opnion of the whole squad... just give them a chance the next time you see them!! Good luck CIRCLE!!

I am going to assume you are a circle person, and lets not beat-around-the-bush.. If you feel you are big enough to make a statement like this, be big enough to not hide behind your name. That really doesnt say a whole lot about yourself!

Posted By: holtonwrstlngirl05 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/07/04 11:51 PM
I don't see the point in wrestling cheerleaders...they sit on the side of the mat and beat on the mat and sometimes mess up all their own cheers and when a guy almost gets off the mat they all back away and giggle or something....Most the wrestlers I know would rather NOT have wrestling cheerleaders because they don't even do anything for them...They don't even listen to the cheerleaders they're to busy thinking about what to do next. I don't think cheerleaders are needed....most of them have high annoying voices anyways...sorry.
Posted By: Aaron Sweazy Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/08/04 06:25 AM
I think wrestling cheerleaders give guys something to look at whether you like it or not, it's true. In a lot of cases, some of the gals don't want to be at tournaments...they get up like it's a task to go cheer. But of the cheerleaders I met this year..they were all pretty darn cool.
Posted By: Unfortunate_Son Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/08/04 10:14 PM
You people are making me ill with all this cheerleading crap. The only person worse is me for wasting my time reading and now commenting on this garbage. After reading Pup's Budlight parody I was hoping for some more entertaining posts. But alas, all I got was some hating on fat chicks (you must remember, bone is for the dog and meat is for the man).

Hey, is cheerleader stick (doing the splits and getting stuck to the ground) the same as jock itch?
Posted By: NOT TOO BAD Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/08/04 11:32 PM
I also was drawn in to reading this garbage by reading Pup's Budlight parody. This is a pointless and stupid topic. Why even ask the question, there will always be chearleaders. There is nothing anyone on this forum can do to change it so why don't we all stop the fighting and drop it.

And Fris your dumb. haha
Posted By: lil_sharpe_007 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/09/04 01:01 AM
I think wrestling cheerleaders are cool....not jsut because i'm one...but they encourage the wrestler's....i know our wrestling coaches weren't very fond of wrestling cheerleaders after a trip to state one year, but after this year i think they're ok again...us wrestling cheerleaders and wrestler's became like brothers and sisters and the parents complimented us and said if it wouldn't have been for us the boys would have never did so well...I just took it as compliment at first then i got to realizing we prolly wouldn't have placed 13 of 14 wrestlers at regionals and 7 of 13 at State which led us to being 4A State Champs...So if you have a problem with wrestling cheerleaders big or small get over it they are there to support the team. Even if they don't know anything about wrestling or if they have grew up with it like i have who cares as long as the have fun doing it...SCHS CHEERLEADER
Posted By: VikesManager05 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/09/04 02:21 AM
welllll.. in my opinion, as a manager and not a wrestlerette OR coach, I think that they are sort of pointless and/or annoying. But thats just me. I sit there and keep score, and hearing the same cheer over and over and over again gets sort of old. From what I know, the wrestlers say they dont even hear them, sooo why have them? But in their (their meaning the wrestlerettes) defense, if the wrestlers cant hear them, then theres no harm done.
Posted By: Computerized Shoes Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/09/04 02:23 AM
Scott City sure as he*k needs some cheerleaders! After being the State champs an all I figured...hey, I'll go and look for them hot cheerleaders...but I looked and looked and was eventually led astray.
Posted By: lil_sharpe_007 Re: Cheerleaders --> yes or no - 03/09/04 07:51 PM
we were there sitting right next to our wrestlers when we weren't cheering:)

Don't let them know that one of the gals they're talking about is your sis or they won't leave you alone.

Being the mom of a former cheerleader, I can see both sides of this discussion. If cheerleaders are out by the mat supporting their wrestlers, I am thrilled. It seems to me that, unless you come from one of the bigger schools where each sport has their own cheerleaders, the only time there come out is when it is a state or regional meet that gets a lot of attention (and perhaps means a trip out of town away from mom and dad.) Then when they get there, they don't seem to understand the rules: sit, not stand at the mats so the paying fans can see; when a wrestler anywhere gets injured, even if he's not on YOUR team, you sit and be quiet out of respect for the wrestler and those trying to give him care-then cheer the athlete when he leaves the mat; represent your school in your appearance and behavior, take the higher ground when others don't do the same. I'd love to see cheerleaders at the mat at every meet giving the respect to the athletes that they deserve. Cheer on your warriors. This is one of the toughest sports there is and they deserve it!
