What is everyones thoughts on the Johnson County Classic? Any Surprises?
Pin to Win - are you asking about team scores or individual performances.
The Olathe South Freshman @ 112, Shawn Dedrick. He will make a run for State and challenge Corey Wright for leauge.
i was very impressed with many wrestlers on FRi-Sat. Guys that just dominated were Elsrode(OLS), Sultani(SMS), Erisman(DES), Hammett(BV) and of course Venagas(OLN). I look forward to seeing how they all do later this year.
and i can't leave out Bogart, who is a given.
i was impressed by mccormick. He pinned david sielert in the finals and sielert is no chump. he is a good wrestler. congrats to mc.
i was pretty impressed by the freshman 103 from BVN, livingood. he tech falled the kid from SMW, who also is really good, in the finals.
yes, very impressed. we had him on his back and very nearly pinned him in the second, but other than that he countered every move from gentry and exposed our inexperience. He will be a good one. speaking of other BVN, for the amount of total kids they have, they had three in the finals and 2 champions. Nice job.
i dont think that the johnson county classic is that good there are only a few good kids in each weight class and the 103 from BVN got beat 10-0 by bingham
thanks for the insite. just speaking of the classic though. never said anything about anyone taking state. thanks
what wieght are mccormick and sielert at this year??
I think that St. Thomas Aquinas had several surprises at the JC Classic. First Jeff Konrath winning at 171 was a big surprise. Second outside of the Aquinas program it may have been a surprise that Neil Cisper won at 160 as a sophomore. Finally who would have thought that the Aquinas team would have won the team title after losing Gabe Conaghan and Nolan Cisper their two State Champions from last year to graduation.
Good job, Coach Lorne Parks and assistant coaches and to STA youth coaches Sean McCarthy, Joe Cisper, Mark Roos and others who keep feeding the Aquinas wrestling program with good new wrestlers.
mcC and seilert both wrestled at 125, but look for seilert to be at 119 and chino at 112.
STA did have some suprises but they were well earned, those guys wrestled very well. drew ibarra was also nearly another champion for them at 152 but lost in the last seconds of the match to hammet from BV.
I talked to Elsrode recently and was told he was staying at 119. Where did you get your info raider?
thats odd i talked to him at the JC after the championships and he told me that he was planing to move down and i talked to seilert before the intro ceremony and he said he was ready to move down to 119 once chino makes it to 112.
interesting...both r doing well at their weights, i wonder why they r dropping.
niether one is impressive and both are over rated.
has anyone heard of the blue valley northwest huskies 119 pounder
at the classic bvnw's 119 was brett hayes.
