Would you really classify that as wrestling? Not all of you, some are actually good, but a lot of them are just dirty wrestlers. If they get in a predicimate, BAM sombody's oil gets checked. OR they start wrestling very unneccisary. And the officials don't say a thing. The few guys that don't wrestle disgustingly just plain suck. In the end, most of them need to learn how to wrestle and pull the finger out, that's just plain disgusting.
I am not sure exactly who you are referring to on our team. Most of the time,if at all, it is a butt drag, that's perfectly legal. On top of that you say the wrestlers that don't wrestle dirty just suck. I think there alot of quality wrestlers on our team that aren't dirty, that are successful with their style. If being agressive is dirty, then I am in the wrong sport, maybe its time I pick up a basketball.
Steinmetz you don't have to defend yourself. You guys are awesome. Good Luck, Can I be an honorary Turner fan?
Dude, it's not even you, you have been a consistantly good wrestler for ever, just a few guys on the team, you can't deny it. Look at the video tapes.
Well you stated "The ones that don't wrestle dirty just plain suck" I feel that includes me. I am part of the team, as well, being hungry and going for a move, if someone gets elbowed or headbutted you can't control that. Its all about explosion and agressiveness. You don't have time to think.
Yeah, but an intentional knee in the back (not you) or a forearm in the face (not you either) is not an accident.
I feel certain that if Turner didn't win tournaments this would not be an issue. No one talks about a bad team's "style." The fact is that if a team is going to be good they are going to have to get mean and do what it takes to win.
I love aggressive wrestling.
Sometimes I like to dig my knee in the middle or side of someones back when they are stalling on bottom. Does that make me dirty also?
Pain is part of wrestling. Stop being such a weiner, Yeah-it-was-me.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, let's see now, knee in the back, forearm to the face, intentional not accidental, yep, sounds like wrestling! From your other posts, you must be Buck from Bonner. Read the other responses to your post and learn from them. You'd better take Dingbat's advice and grow some nards for state next weekend. If you think Turner wrestles dirty, you better prepare to get down and filthy in the colliseum. Or you can shower and go home (or take up basketball).
True story.
leon .... you're right ........ my apoloies to Erick ..... removed post and inserted correct one
GOTTA LOVE THEM TURNER BOYS. YOU GUYS JUST GO OUT AND TEAR THE HELL OUT OF THEM. YOU WANT THE STATE TITLE DON'T YOU.... THE HELL WITH BEING NICE...... WRESTLE YOUR A**ES OFF..... HELL YA THEY CALL IT DIRTY WRESTLING... WE CALL IT BEING TRUE TO THE SPORT.... IF YOUR GONNA WINE AND CRY YOUR IN THE WRONG SPORT. SEE YA ALL IN WICHITA.
I will say that wrestling can get a little out of hand...I saw one guy get punched in the stomach and the ref didn't say a word...but I will agree with steinmetz171 that if it's too rough, there's always the basketball court.

You either love it or you don't, and if it's your passion, you'll go through hell and high water for it. :p
well see how they do this weekend maybe 3rd or 4th sounds pretty good with a Kc team with all the guys their bringing.
I think it would be great if Turner does win state. And, as a matter of fact I am pulling for them too. I have no problem with the wrestling, because most of those boys are quality wrestlers, the forearm and the knee aren't a problem, checking oil is a discusting habbit, and some of them have turned it into a move. It's not a move, it's discusting. You don't hear me whining, I've only lost to one person from Turner in my career and it was fair and square to Billy Jones, I don't have any problem with any of them, but a few of them do need to clean up. Don't try to turn it around and say I am being a sissy. Oh, and this isn't the first time this whole "oil" thing has been brought up. It was taken to the state a couple of years ago and Turner wasn't even that good then. And I will say it again, most of those boys are quality wrestlers, and I haven't seen any of the good ones use this.
SO GREAT ONE.......WHO DO YOU WRESTLE FOR???????
I sometimes check oil but I like to refer to it as a "butt drag" its really a successful move. Its not like they are tryin to see how far there fingers will fit up your rear its a move that is highly successful.
YEAH IF THEY WANT TO STALL,IT WILL SURE GET THEM TO MOVE........
does it get you to move, and this is a wrestling forum so please go to the, nonsport cheerleading site
Seriously, everyone uses the Butt Drag. It is a very successfull move. But when there is no "drag" involved, it's just plain "butt" then it's checking oil. I've watched some people, not just from Turner, get in a took down situation and use it to avoid giving up points. In one match on tape, you could somebody, maybe their coach, yelling, "Check His Oil!" When he was about to get reversed. That's what gets at me.
I WILL SPEAK WHENEVER, WHEREEVER I LIKE... GET USED TO IT... TURNER RULES.... APPARENTLY I AM GETTING TO YOU.. I AM GLAD.
THEN CLOSE YOUR MOUTH... OR MAYBE TRYING BRUSHING YOUR TEETH... IT WORKS.. REALLY...YOU MUST HAVE SOME TALENT... IT JUST HASN'T SHOWN YET.. BUT DO PLEASE KEEP TRYING...
turner doesnt wreslte dirty at all. i've seen them wrestle at a couple of tournaments, and no, they dont. they are just good from top to bottom. its a physical sport, inflicting pain upon your opponet is part of it. i've never heard a turner coach yell, "check his oil"....i hope turner owns 5A state. good luck.
Help me. I never thought I led a sheltered life and also thought I knew most moves but the terms butt drag and checking his oil are unfamiliar to me. Could you explain (without being toooo graphic.) maybe I know it by another name.
ok, maybe i'm wrong, if nobody else thinks there is a problem, there must not be one. Like I've said before, I've never experienced it, but I've just heard lots of complaints on it. Maybe I am wrong. I just wanted to hear some other views after hearing what I heard. And Turner does have a good shot at taking the state title, but Carrol is gonna be tough competition.
FANATIC..........CHECKIN THE OIL IS WHEN U STICK UR "FINGER OR FINGERS" UP THE OTHER GUYS REAR.....DOES THAT GIVE U A GOOD ENOUGH EXPLINATION OR DO U NEED MORE??????
Cheerleader, I am talking about wrestling moves. I will wait to hear from a wrestler.
Fanatic--
As disgusting as the cheerleader put it, she was right. Guys do this when they are put in precarious situations to make the opponent uncomfortable. For example, I have seen a defensive wrestler do this when the offensive wrestler is extended on a single leg takedown to get him to release the leg. It is also done when you set the arm in to switch and you are trying to pull yourself up behind the other wrestler. Maybe others can help out with examples...I try to stay away from that as much as possible.
Cody Bell,
You do your fair share of stalling also.
Just an observation. And no, I don't consider you one of the dirty wrestlers, but there are sure a lot of them out there.
I'm still not sure about that call against you in Hiawatha. What exactly was that all about?
When I learned a butt drag, it was were they are in on a single leg so you post one elbow on their head, reach inside to the inside elbow, and then with your outside arm grab a butt cheek(notice I'm not saying anything about going in), and then pull your opponent forward causing them to fall down. It's a pretty successful move even on the collegiate level.
Guess I don't pay enough attention.
I don;t think i've ever noticed and I have seen both Turner and bell.
Fanatic, I do happen to agree with you, that there are lots of dirty wrestlers out there. Some more so then others.
Some are jerks threw and threw and don't have a decent bone in their entire body and some just wrestle dirty but are at least decent human beings once they step of the mat. Which still doesn't earn them my respect. But that's a different matter.
There are however lots of great athletes who win without having too stoop so low. They get the job done by being outstanding wrestlers, by hard work and determination.
Heres what I think...maybe Turner is a little agressive but just look at the Iowa Hawkeye's, always in the top five wrestling university's in the nation. They're not flashy or whatever, they just plain get after it. I think Turner in some level can be compared to the Hawkeyes. Not just because their school colors are black and gold. Turner isn't just out their to win but win big. And they are probably going to do anything to get their. No hard feeling but thats wrestling. I mean the word, WRESTLING, its a fight with rules.
Yes their are some courtesy rules like don't hit people in the nuts and try to keep the finger out back door but hey, if your opponent ignores the unwritten rule then do it to him and see how he likes it.
I've seen Turner a few times this year also, and good move or not, right or wrong sonme of them do use the ole finger in the KEESTER...what ever works I guess..
That's where the Refs come in! What do they get payed for? Shouldn't they keep some control of what's going on out there and who's stickung there fingers where and grabbing people where etc....?
The Turner Wrestling Team is a group of hard-working, goal-setting, and determined young men. I don't understand why people are continuously and all of a sudden referring to the boys as "dirty wrestlers". In all of the years I've been around the sport our boys aren't exhibiting any practices that are different than all of the other teams. Albeit, at times an individual might overreact to a situation, however so DO OTHER BOYS ON OTHER TEAMS! "Let he without sin cast the first stone." It is a sport of physical contact, and aggression is to be expected, even by the spectators, as is noted by some of the postings. It seems to me that people are too worried about finding fault and trying to bring others down instead of rooting for an underdog. Turner is an urban school district with, for the most part, hard working blue-collar families. For once we are doing better than the suburban elite and getting ripped for it. I want to know if you'd be complaining about the wrestling if the Turner wrestlers were losing?!!!
Though I can honestly saw I,ve never noticed it stuck in there (obviously the hips are a wrestlers point of power and balance and so contolloing them is critical) I just can;t imagine it as being as severe as some of you put on.
Mamabear and all Turner folks don't let a few get to you. I think your team is awesome and I am still waiting for an invitation to your title celebration party. (I will wait until you take care of business) but I want (don't deserve) but want an invite to your celebration
Fanatic--you're right, it usually isn't that bad, but sometimes it is. About 5 years ago at Beloit I saw a wrestler get up to the 2nd knuckle. Yuk.
The Turner kids wrestle the way the sport is supposed to be wrestled. Unfortunatly, not everyone understands that around here. They wrestle a college style that many people can't relate to, and judging by what they've accomplished lately, they must be doing something right. Good luck Bears at State!
And one other thing: Turner wrestlers, don't ever let anyone tell you need to change. You're doing it right; they need to change. Keep up the good work!
yes turner has a good team but personally think bishop carrol will win it will be close.....also cheerleader.....you really do need to shut up, cause your really annoying, and for future advice stick with the cheerleading forums, cause nobody wants you on here
i don't see where you guys are saying that turner is a dirty team. it has been said more than a couple of times on this forum. can anybody name a time recently that a turner kid has been dirty. if you don't then please shut up, because they are just rough and agressive team. and if they check your oil, so what. i sure as hell don't want them doing it to me, it should be more motavation to get out of that positon. only one person has ever done it to me, and believe me i never knew i could move that fast. personally, i would never do that move, but if you feel the need to, it's alright i guess, if you use it.
if turner isn't a dirty team then nobody would be saying that they are a dirty team. i also like it when i get oil checked so i'm not complaining.
Then sometimes wrestling is fun?
Superiorsteve nailed it. If you don't want to be bruised, cut, scratched, hit, kneed, slapped, elbowed, poked, choked, squeezed, stretched, thrown, tripped, thumped or goosed, stay away from the state tourney. I've seen all of the above at the big show and no team is any more or less guilty than another. Wrestling is sometimes referred to as a fight with rules. If you're not ready to go to war next weekend, you'll probably be done early. Like boxing, wrestling has officials to enforce the rules. I generally like cruising the forum to read about wrestlers, teams, events, and the sport in general. I could do without more posts whining, complainng or firing accusations at the Turner program or any other KS wrestling program. Coaches have enought to worry about this week without worrying about their kids reading that crap.
only when wrestling turner!
so.....what does everybody think about state??it is pretty awesome that turner got 5A state....the scores were all close till the consolation matches....
you all think we are dirty wrestlers but we are just aggressive and aint afraid to lose when we step onto the matt we let it all hang out and look what we got out of it A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP without a state champion!!!
