Thain Brobst of Eureka broke his arm in a 16 to 38 loss to Neodesha JV on Monday night. If you don't know Thain he was Eureka's 103 last year and almost cost us Regionals by losing to Josh Brown of Rosaila in O.T., a kid Thain had beaten badly twice last year and Thain was the third seed. Thain had surgery on Tuesday and is out for the rest of football, he may be back for wrestling season though.

Give me a break, how can you say ONE kid almost cost the team regionals?? Unless you only take 2 or 3 kids don't see that as being a fair statement...

That IS a lot of pressure to put on one kid when wrestling is supposidly a "team" sport.

what about the guys on your team that didn't place? They likely were more of a detriment to your effort that the athlete that you credit with single-handedly jeopardizing your regional effort. Pretty lame accusation if you ask me.

Well he wasn't the only person on our team that was seeded in the top four and did't place. He was just the only person that was planning on what he was going to do on the way to Hays and what he was going to do while in Hays before the season had started. He just forgot to wrestle 100% and ended up having to watch from the stands at the medal rounds of Regionals and at Hays. He also forced other wrestlers to win for us and from other teams for our team to even contend for the title. But we still managed to pull it off and bring home the Regional team title by a point. So maybe I shouldn't blame it all on him but he should have thought more about his consolation semi-finals match instead of the next weekend.

if you knew thain from the prespective that the team knows thain and how cocky he can get you would have said the same thing

nonetheless you shouldn't depend on one wrestler, your whole team shouldn't be wrestling 100% they should be wrestling 150% to make up for those who slack at around 80%, who would've that wrestling would turn in to my probability/statistics class...
i wrestled thain a couple years ago. one week after i got back from a broken bone i stuck him in the first and laughed when i saw him crying to his daddy.

Or you could wrestle 160% to make up for the guys only giving around 70%.....Or maybe 159% to 71%.....You really shouldn't have to depend upon a young 103 pounder in a pressure situation...maybe your upperclassmen should have stepped up?

Augusta has lost Josh Weaver at 189 for the season. He tore the ACL in his knee during the playoff game against Andover Central. Its a big blow to the Football team and was State points returning from last year's team.

Isn't he a senior too?

That is bad. Denis is a great kid as well as a great wrestler. I will miss seeing him on the mat. Hopefully the rehab will come quickly, just stick to it and make it happen. After 4 knee surgeries in my family, (none of them mine) including a ACL it is possible to get back. The ACL repair is not the problem it used to be.

Terry - I saw the play in which Josh went down. He was playing great and all out. What a disappointment for him and the team. If you see him tell him best of luck on rehabilitation.

I wish Josh the best of luck with the ACL tear and rehab. The Assistant Principal of Mulvane's wife was my PT back in May when I had my ACL and Meniscus tear. I'll miss seeing that match in which one of our guys go up against him. Coach Alley, Tell Weaver that at least one person from Wellington isn't happy that he's out. You guys are a good team, but we're just as good.

I heard aaron rosin from scott city is out. he went out for a meniscus repair at the end of the season last year...ended up 19-2 or something like that. their newspaper editor told someone that he tore it again before football but still played, then heard he tore his ACL at the end of the season...also rumor he may still try to wrestle since its his senior year...any word on this?

i haven't heard anything about that...but i will look into it and let u all know

Denis is likely out for the season, Surgery soon but 5/6 months to rehab will leave him on the outside looking in. Not a very good way to spend Senior year but hopefully he will recover after that and still have lots of activity to look forward to.

Didn't Tristan Deshazer get hurt playing football?
I never heard how his knee was. He's got
a fourth h.s. championship his for the
taking--I hope he's o.k.

Did he get injured against Ulysses?
Posted By: mike fairleigh Re: wrestlers hurt playing football? - 11/14/05 02:04 PM
No, he survived all the tough games against Conway, Scott City, Hays, and Ulysses, only to be injured in a blocking play at Nickerson, who was one of our easier games. Seems like it can happen anywhere, jsut really is the pits to sit out Sr. year wrestling.

Gabe Smull St. Francis, suffered a severly sprained foot against smith center late in the first quarter, in a 20-14 loss. not a broken ankle as the radio reported. luckly the x-rays came back negative. but will be out for a couple of weeks hopefully should be back in time for saintys invitational, he was also nursing a broken bursa in his right knee from the Ness-Dighton game, his entire leg is still black and blue.

Jordan Gienger nursing a sore thumb, Russell Rogers a sore shoulder, other than that luckly we stayed relatively healthy.

hope the everyone stays healthy during the wrestling season, that goes for everyone out there! nothing worse than seeing an season ending or career ending injury. my heart goes out to those that have suffered that experience, because i have been there; done that!
