Who is better Josh Stirling or Matt dukes? Who do you think will win if they wrestled?
Posted By: wrestler03 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/13/02 03:19 AM
i don't know but i don't think they're the 2 best in the state at 145
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/13/02 05:08 PM
If Dukes wrestles his game like he always does he should have the upper hand.
Posted By: wrestler12 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/13/02 11:37 PM
Well I think Dukes would win but I know he got scared a little bit when a freshman wrestled him to a 6-5 score and a poorly reffed match!
Posted By: wrestling fan 82 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/14/02 05:31 AM
Dukes is very dangerous, and Stirling hasn't looked that great this year. So I would say that Dukes will win if they wrestle at state.
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/14/02 02:58 PM
Yeah Dukes was a little siked out, but I feel he has that under control and will go into state well prepared and ready to fight.
Posted By: jmadden Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/15/02 02:27 AM
Dukes was a little what?
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/15/02 05:50 PM
Siked.............. alittle nervous, excited, anxious, and annoyed because people always talk Sh*t, but he won and thats all that counts in the end and on the records.
Posted By: jmadden Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/16/02 03:03 AM
I wasn't sure if you meant sick or psyched
Posted By: SFTWRESTLING2005 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/17/02 04:55 AM
Dukes. Dukes beat wiscombe twice and wiscombe beat stirling. Can dukes beat taplin? (who also beat wiscombe) Can wiscombe beat dukes or taplin if given another chance?.. we will see next week.
Posted By: wrestlingfan171 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/17/02 05:11 AM
i dont know but at regionals dukes didnt look like he was up to par with the hayden kind in the semi-finals when he was on his back in the last part other than that he was rather impressive to watch
Posted By: MatRat Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/18/02 02:00 AM
Dukes was beat at regionals! Ingenthron got jobbed by the ref (who by the way seemed to be officiating all the Basehor matches, and just happened to be at the seeding meeting Thursday night WITH the Basehor coaches!!) and the scorekeeper who took a penalty point away from Ingenthron that was awarded in the 2nd period. Everyone who saw the match knows Ingenthron won that match. Dukes will be knocked out by the semis at state!
Posted By: WrestlerJCW145 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/18/02 02:35 AM
Yes Dukes did have a tough match against Ingenthrone. But what about his finals match against rush from clay center I know rush is tough and i know dukes is tough i lost to both of them by a point... Did dukes just catch rush in a pinning combination or what could you please inform me.
Posted By: wrestlingfan171 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/18/02 02:56 AM
Yes I was their watching the match with Ingenthrons cousin Ryan Phillips (the one who pinned Dukes last year in the finals of the state tournyment in 31 seconds flat). Yes dukes should have had his second loss but the refs did give the shaft to hayden.
Posted By: wrestlingfan2580 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/18/02 02:58 AM
i attended the Basehor Linwood regional and would just like to clear up what happened in the match between Matt Dukes and Kyle Ingenthron. With about 30 seconds left Matt was ahead 13-8. Kyle got 2 points (sorry, i don't recall if they were take down or reversal) and then got Matt on his back and kept him there for the remaining time (about 10 sec.) and received 3 point near fall. So the score should have been 13-13, but the scoreboard said 13-15 in Ingenthron's favor. When the coaches took their books to the table, the ref looked at them and said it should be 12-13 (Duke's winning) because the scorekeeper put up a penalty point against Matt that he never called. I personally thought that it should have went into overtime, because I thought the penalty point was given (and it was in both teams books), but I do know that Dukes was not wrestling to his full capebility and definitely proved himself when he went out and pinned Josiah Rush in finals.

I would like to see dukes and rush wrestle again.
Posted By: ryanphillips Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/18/02 06:54 PM
I have been following this topic of awhile. I wrestled 145 my junior and senior year of high school. This year is very different than the past two years. I really think that it is wide open at state. The burlington reg. and the B.L. reg. were the tougher of the four reg. at 145. The top four in both reg. have an excellent shot and placing. I have seen or wrestled many of these guys. Just remember at the state tourney anything can and will happen.
Posted By: Psyclonez420 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/19/02 12:47 AM
I was also there and I think that was cheap of the ref, but you have to remember that the ref was from Basehor and was probably bias that whole tourney. Dukes showed his potential when he took out Rush with a pin when it all counted.
Posted By: MatRat Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/19/02 02:36 AM
Rush just got caught by Dukes, they were both scrambling and Rush got off balance and Dukes caught him on his back. F.Y.I Justin
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/19/02 03:41 PM
For all you doubters out there you all sit there and say the other guy in the semi finals would have beat dukes, well even if the ref threw him the other point it still would have gone into overtime so who knows the outcome. I also talked to Dukes after the match and he said he didn't wrestler his hardest and was caught in a stupid move on his part and said he had to prove himself in the finals and thats exactly what he did they weren't off balance don't make excuses Dukes is stronger and threw rush to his back. And as for the other kid I believe he was put on his back three times and and took his 2 injury timeouts to get of his back, and took another again and gave Dukes the decision of top or bottom. dukes is a strong kid and great competitor and if you can't take it you shouldn't be out there. And also the reffing may have been bad but it was on everone you guys proabalblyt just chose the basehor kids to make it known because it was from Their school.
Posted By: ryanphillips Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/19/02 08:24 PM
Hey wrestler4life, I was at that Bashor. That other kid is my cousin(Kyle Ingenthorn). For you saying Dukes wasn't wrestling his hardest, that makes no since at all. I was watching the match and it looked like he was wrestling with all he had. I will admit he was working kyle over at the start of the match. Kyle stayed with him and caught him just like Dukes caught Rush in the finals. The reason kyle took those time outs was because Dukes had his arm behind his back and then started pulling on it, he did this more than once. You do have a good point the match would have gone into overtime and who knows who would have won. I didn't think that the reffs where bad I think that they were calling good and even calls all weekend long.
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/20/02 05:12 PM
I understand where you are comming from I am not saying your cousin is not a good wrestler he obviously is and will be pretty awesome when he is junior or senior, but I know Dukes and he wasn't wrestling how Dukes wrestles towards the end of the match, but he did have a good fight. And About the arm thing when you're about to be put on your back and possibly pinned its not supposed to feel good. but he didn't need all the injury timeouts he took you can't expect not to feel pain when you are going up against the top wrestler in the state at 145 4a. And everyone can't say he was supposed to take firs or beat Dukes because he lost for 3 and 4, but don't get me wrong he is a good wrestler and I am not saying he is not.
Posted By: Bubba Darks Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/20/02 05:40 PM
they are both good but I would put my money on Ross Taplin from Abilen.
Posted By: VS Vike coach Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/20/02 05:48 PM
Actually the match to watch might be the potential quarterfinal between Dukes and Wiscombe of Santa Fe Trail. Those two had a wild one in the KVL finals two weeks ago (Dukes won) and the potential rematch might be worth the price of admission. Wish I could see it from Hays.
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/20/02 05:49 PM
Yeah Okay, since he has been beaten by dukes and 2 other people. :p
Posted By: wrestler12 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/20/02 08:45 PM
Yeah i agree. the potential rematch between wiscombe and dukes will be a dandy. yeah dukes has bea wiscombe twice but the first match coud have went either way and wiscombe had him beat the second match but dukes won only because of poor reffing. the third match between dukes and wiscombe will be a good one to watch. good luck to both guys!
Posted By: WrestlerJCW145 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/21/02 12:49 AM
The two people that wiscombe got beat by were rush and taplin and they were both by a point. They are two very good wrestlers who are ranked high in the state. But I know that Wiscombe will be ready at state. and will give dukes all he has got.
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/21/02 02:44 PM
Bad reffing thats all people ever want to blame there loses on pick a new topic, and give Dukes the credit he deserves......... Let me guess all the other loses by one point were bad reffing also....Get real.
Posted By: old145 Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/21/02 03:12 PM
J Wiscombe is good, But he does stall a lot on his feet. All is does is block off.
Posted By: Static Re: Stirling vs. Dukes - 02/21/02 03:22 PM
Thank you I thought I was the only one who seemed to notice that. I appreciate that. :p

To MatRat
Re: Official and Basehor coaches.

I wanted to wait until the season was over before I addressed this issue, so that things would calm down a little.
I know that emotions are high and tempers flare in the course of a close match, but before you make any accusations about me, you should probably get your facts straight! Yes, one of the officials did attend the the seeding meeting and this is not unusual for a regional seeding meeting. I have been to several meetings where an official would sit in on the meeting or even run the meeting. And yes, I did talk to the official, but that doesn't mean I negotiated any deals with him or any other officials. Get real. If I had, then I need to work on my negotiating skills because my team finish fourth in the regional, not first. Just so you know neither of the officials for the match in question were from Basehor as some have stated, one was from Effingham, and the other official was from Topeka. So much for the home-town official conspiracy theory.
Crazy things happen in high school wrestling, we see it every year, and the match in question was one of them. I think that there was mistake in the scoring of the match also, I thought the match should have been tied myself. The official made the ruling and that is the way it stood. If you are questioning the the ability of the two wrestlers (145 lbs. Hayden---Basehor) then you need to look at their State Tournament finishes, enough said on that. As for you questioning my ethics or integrity, think again about the comments that you made. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I have never operated unethically. Maybe you need to question your own integrity after the comments that you have made. My advice is that before you question the character of another coach, maybe you should question your own character. The comments that were made were pretty immature.

Sincerely
Scott Neil

Scott:

Good for you. Unfortunately, knowing what you are talking about is not a requirement for leaving comments on this thing; if it were, most of these posts would never make it on here.
Congrats to you and Matt and rest of your kids on another great season from us up in the north part of the county!

Just a point of information. I ran the seeding meeting at Bashor and there were no referee's in attendence until the end and that one was from park hill, mo. That was a real silly thing to say and had nothing to do with that match. I went over the scoring for that match myself and it was right. Might not have turned out the way you wanted it but it was right. The seeding meeting had nothing whatsoever to do with the outcome of that match.
