I'm doing a research paper and I'm looking for some ideas on some wrestling quotes i can put in it. It is more of a speech so I need something to catch the audience's attention. I can't remember all the quotes my coach used to say so will you all please give me some ideas? Thanks Houston
The only quote I can think of right now is............. "The more you sweat in times of peace the less you bleed in times of need", but if I remeber anymore I will post again
Winners make it happen -- losers let it happen There is a big difference between wanting to and willing to
There is always room at the top Losers let it happen, winners make it happen
You will not score 100% of the time on the shots you didn't take
It takes a big dog to weigh a hundred pounds.
The medals we wrestle for are not made of Gold, Silver and Bronze. They are made of a little bit of blood, a whole lot of sweat, and a few tears!
It's not the fall that hurts... it's the sudden stop at the end.
Wrestling: Its what MEN do during boy's basketball season
(holton's motto)
your altitude is determined by your attitude
Wrestling is the oldest, toughest, most demanding sport of all. Its nature remaining intact through the ages. Two opponents battle--using only God-given tools--in a test of will and skill, strength and stamina, determination and guts. In the end, one wins...the other doesn't. ITS THAT SIMPLE!!
As with all worth while quotes, they can provide a wide meaning across many topics. This is one I picked up " If you want something bad enough, you will find a way; if not, you will find an excuse."
"You can have ANYthing you want, you just can't have EVERYthing you want." -- Dr. David Byrne, KSU Prof. of Education
"If it is to be, it's up to me." -- unknown
"It's not the size of the dog in a fight that matters, it's the size of the 'fight' in the dog."
-- unknown
"There is 'do' there is 'not do', there is no 'try'." -- Yoda
"If you do what you've always done you'll always get what you've always got." -- Aerosmith
"Win or lose you will never regret working hard, making sacrifices, being disciplined or focusing too much. Success is measured by what we have done to prepare for competition." John Smith
"The ones who want to achieve and win championships motivate themselves." -- Mike Ditka
I'm so disappointed in you guys. No one came up with this:
"The sight I adore on a basketball floor is wrestling mats from door to door!"
You should be able to buy headstones with that on it!
"Good, Better, Best... Never let it rest until YOUR GOOD is better than the rest.
"If You Believe, You Can Achieve" and "Pain Is Weakness Leaving The Body" by Coach Wayne Jackson
"The pain of sacrifice is temporary. The pain of regret lasts forever." -- Eric Akin
pain is temporary, pride is forever
pin to win
i hope this helps you out.. Bronco Wrestler
Thanks a bunch everyone! I'm sure I'll be able to use most of these in my speech. Once again Thanks and God Bless. Houston
My favorite wrestling quote is:
"Basketball is for gay dudes."
Don't tell me about the pain, just show me the baby!
"If you haven't been beat then you haven't been far enough away from home." I heard Ben Duell Sr. say this on the radio, he is a commentator for wrestling, rings true in a lot of cases.
"There ain't a horse that ain't been rode, and there ain't a cowboy that ain't been throwd".
I don't know if anybod has put this on here yet but "It takes a big dog to weigh a hundred pounds" deep, I know but very meaningful.
"If wrestling was easy, it would be called basketball"
Here are some we have used at Remington..

If it wasn't hard everyone would do it.
It's not the six minutes, it's what you do in those six minutes.

Hers is a quote they use at Kapaun / Pain is weakness leaving the body.

What is hard to endure is sweet to recall.

A quiter never wins.
