Kansas Wrestling
Mike Furches and I have discussed it and thought that what would be better to kick off the new school year than to head on down to Stillwater, Oklahoma to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame with anybody that wants to join the convoy from Kansas.

We thought that August 13th would be a great day to do it. It will be a Saturday and should be clear on several calendars. We would leave Wichita area by 8 am I believe giving us plenty of time to see the Hall of Fame. Due to the fact the Hall of Fame has various hours we would like to get a head count for the trip if anybody would like to head down that way we can get a group rate and even a surprise or two for the day.

I know several people in the Wichita area would be more than willing to house some of us Northerners up for the night of the 12th if you want to head out early from Wichita with the convoy. Just reply on here if you are interested or in a private message with # of people in your party that you'll be coming with. We hope to have a few vans so people don't have to worry about gas and toll fees as much.

This could be a great way for Kansas to wind down and celebrate so many great accomplishments from this summer of wrestling.

Hope to see you all in Stillwater!
Swayz I may go.... is there any chance of being back by the 14th so I can leave for college?
I'm in! I'll say up there after practice with Curtis after I get surgery.

No Alex, you can not go to college. Ever!
Question for somebody out there. I am a high school wrestling coach outside of KC and am trying to get a club started in conjunction and as a supplement to our school wrestling progam. A question was posed to me by some parents concerned about the safety of their children.

Does USA wrestling require background checks of their volunteer coaches as well as other people that come into contact with kids as a result of their participation in the sanctioned program????
If they don't it might be something that the organization might want to consider.

Again, I am just in the beginning stages of getting a new program going. Right now it is in just the exploratory stage. As several parents have requested that I do some legwork.
Back on topic...

Alex I have to be back 14th anyway so yea.
What is your cost estimate. Remember, I'm am what is now to be considered a broke *** college student. Once again, remember this. But I'm more than willing to pay what needs to be paid. Hope we can round up some crew. You won't be anything near bored around me. Promise. Is TCarmona in on the action?

I believe that I too fall into the "broke *** college student" category as well. I am thinking about going depending on if I get my new car or not before I leave for college as mine now might not make it to Wichita running... so I'm hoping I get my new one. I am sure a Gossett, Ryan, Chenoweth, & Swayz crew could make a very interesting trip, add in Mike Furches and the stories will begin to unfold. Add in TCarmona who also will be a "broke ** college student" now too so hey it could be a fun trip.

Alex

I'll see what I can do... never been to the museum itself but i've been by there on my way to an OSU vs. Iowa Dual (Before Mocco was a traitor)
Well I think I am also in both categories, those interested in going and being a broke *** college student. I might be able to house a few people as well.

That was a great dual...I was 2 rows up. That was Muhammed (MO) Lawal's 1st and only year at OSU.

As for broke *** people, remember I have student loands and medical bills still.
Swayz-

I think you win as far as the debt goes.... but yea it was a great dual. We ate at Eskimo Joes before hand then enjoyed the dual and the ride back to Russell. The best part was when Mohammed jumped from the outter ring to the center line and was ready to go, he has ups!... too bad I missed you there, I was in the upper level from the ground on the north side.

Alex
Well well well........Everyone loves me! Depending on the events if I coudl go the 13th. I am moving the 12th to Manhappy. Depends on when you guys would want to leave on the 13th. Swayz if I met you in Chapman then we could ride to the next stop together. Let me know the good word.
No, we all just need someone to pick on.
Well if that is the case I was told with your skinny buhler wrestling self would be it.
I had to wrestle Mo and actually talked with him via Chenoweth's cell phone when Curtis called me from Fargo...he's funny. I may have a surprise set for those going at the Hall itself. May have a speaker to talk to us in the video auditorium of the HOF. Still in the works though.
So what do you say sways ride to Wachita together?
If I'm going I'm heading down the night before other wise we have to leave at like 6am...I think we are gunning for an 8:00 am departure.
Who's house are we gonna meet at?
Probably easiest to meet at Mike's I would say although you can get to the turnpike cheaper from your house. Maybe we'll get it figured out.

Dun dun dun....The man-crush strikes yet again with a feeble attempt to flirt with our very own Bronco Wrestler.
Where have you been billy Mc Jennings?
I have a lot of space for vehicles out here too.
Yes, I'm in love with Bronco Wrestler. That's why I drove to Russell one night just to see him....and Joni and Sarah....
Did Joni and Sarah get you and Bronco on tape?
Needed to make a comment here. I think the Graebners, James and Christina may try to make the trip down, for those not knowing them this would be a great opportunity. I may also try and set up a meeting with a legend for all of those going down in a little town between Wichita and Stillwater along the way. Won't say who it would be with but some of you can make a few guesses. I will say that it would be worth the trip alone if you can come meet this legend of wrestling. No guarantees yet but it looks very promising.

We will need to take several vehicles if everyone shows up. I would say plan on bringing at least $5 to help with gas for each vehicle, possibly a little more, then another $2 - $7 for admission, I think students get in for like $2 but maybe Swayz can verify that. A few bucks or snacks for something to eat along the way, and if you want we can stop off at Eskimo Joes to eat. I know Swayz puts the little burgers away. Should be able to have everything, help pay for gas and the like for around $25. We need to plan on where to meet, here is fine and the church has ample parking and it is easy to find for most folks. I am about 2 miles off of the Turnpike on Meridian in Wichita. We could even do breakfast here at the house if I know how many is coming. I could get up early to make the breakfast. Anyone that don't mind rooming with some snakes, a few rats, both pets and food is welcome to also stay here at the house on Friday, Thursday or whenever. Just let me know. For those not going to the HOF before, you will enjoy it and it is well worth the trip. I know a little about Swayz's surprise and it will also be fun, we need to pack the house for these events though. Later and you can contact me if need be.
I think I know who this legend is. And if I'm right, it is worth definitely worth it. Mike, would this little pit stop happen to be located where we stopped and had dessert the last time we went down?
Yes Curtis it is in that little town.
I know what it is, and noone else does! HAHAHAHAHA!
Well don't you want a cookie?
Depends on what kind it is. I'd love to have one of those sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles on it.
Otis Spunkmeyer?
No he is talking about the cookies from Walmart!

By the way here is the wrestling hall site:

SORRY!!! I don't have a walmart within 20 miles of me so I don't know what he's talking about!!!

Alex
Exactly Swayz. Now I want some of those cookies.
Well why don't you go buy some?
Because I don't feel like going into Wichita to get them.
Wow a 15 minute drive....
I'm lazy. Plus I don't want to use up my gas.
so take a jog... you need the exercise or ride a bike...
It's raining though. And I might melt.
We all couldn't be that lucky.....

On a more serious nurtritional note, it might melt the cookies then you'd be really sad
That's very true. Especially if all the frosting was ruined. That's the best part.
of course....
So who all is planning on making the trip?
I am thikning about it.... still haven't decided
You need to come. You and the Swayz could meet up somewhere, and stay the night here.
I might see about meeting him in Salina or something....
Then maybe meet Gossett somewhere.
perhaps stop in Hutch and pick him up...? This could get interesting very quickly....
Very. Maybe pick up TCarmona in Manhattan.
that's outta the way I think.... He would have to meet us somewhere as well....
Him and the Swayz could meet up before hand and meet you in Manhattan.
oh true.... never thought of that
then again I don't think too much, my success in life comes from not trying too hard at anything.... seriously I graduated in the top 10 of my class without ever studying for a test in High School and I hope college is the same way, it'll make life a lot easier.

In juco mainly just go to class and take notes...a lot of teachers will automatically give you a good grade based off attendance...some will even curve finals based on what you have done just classwork wise.
I think I like the sounds of that...
How bout Alex and Swayz meet in Salina...drive to hutch...Then I'll take ya to wichita to Curtis's, then he takes us to Furches. *Good Idea*
How about someone call and see if the Hall of Fame will even be open on Saturday.
Alex isn't going
Swayz, you've got all the connections, so I nominate you for that task.
according to the website for the Hall of Fame it is open on weekends by appointment but you have to call ahead
I may still go, but I will be going to Hutch first to stay w/ Andrew Gossett then down to Wichita.....
o ok
yep, just talked to Gossett and got it straightend out...
I'm not calling because right now I'm busy with other stuff trying to get done.
Plus it's 1 in the morning. I don't see anyone answering. lol.

Maybe your high school was really easy?

Just a thought...
Okay since some of you are so lazy, I just got off the phone with Leroy Smith and they are expecting us on Saturday at the Hall of Fame. We do need to leave Wichita around 8:00, I told them to expect us around 10:30 or so. It would be great to have so many people that we have to have a caravan down. I will also be working on setting up a meeting in Perry on the way back with non other than Danny Hodge. I think Danny will be open to it but need to make sure about his schedule and times and all. I'll talk to him a little later today to verify everything there. I don't think I am stepping on any toes here but everyone is welcome and it would be great to have as many people as possible to go down, especially those from the forums. I think that between me Curtis and others we could put people up that came down on Friday night so you wouldn't have to leave so early on Saturday. Please pass the word around and let's take a good group from Kansas down to the Hall of Fame. Bring your camera's and plan on having a good time. Get on the phone's start calling people and let them know. If we have at least a group of 10 or more the cost is only $25 for the group. If we have a group of 50 or more the cost is $25 for the group, you can see that the more the better.
Bumping this up. I'm running into some problems, but want everyone to go to this that can. I have been there many times and know that it is a great place to be. I love the video library especially. If you have never gone this is a great way to do it.
i would love to go but i just found out at lunch that i have to work on saturday. which really stinks cause i was all excited to go bu maybe next time. you all have fun on the trip.
Swayz are you not going now?
David Williams shall be making the trip because I called his employer and told the guy that he quit.
Will we back Saturday night?
Those going will be back that same night!
Swayz, are you going?
I am not sure I am going yet either. I had planned on it but due to financial constraints I may not be able too. (Pay for books is going to kill me $500). I shall try my bestest to be there though.
Your going....I told your mom.
I am not going to be attending. I was given the all clear to start working on Wednesday and was told to either clean out my car to put it up for sale or get a job.
Probably makes sense at this time to cancel the trip. I'll contct the HOF this morning. As of yet I really haven't heard from anyone. Maybe some other time.

Good Call Mike! I think it's tough to get everyone together even with this much notice. Maybe during the year or something a group will go down when there is a dual at OSU and catch both the HOF and a dual on the same day.
Well Swayz in the case You can travel up to manhattan for the weekend with............drum roll............me!
When you going to be in Manhattan? I have Big John coming in from Iowa on Sunday. Maybe I'll get out to Manhattan for a beer on Monday or something. Big John is the guy I'm training for fighting.
I think you know my cell. Should be there @ 9am

You know how to fight?

We had a lot of guys at UCO that trained in submission fighting and striking when I was there. Jason Tapia is 3-0 right now and soon to be appearing against a UFC guy. Mo Lawal does a lot of that stuff, and Pete Pettry won the US Military Submission Fighting Championships.
